About time I can watch this. Is it just really rare? Was it cancelled? Could it be this is just so unpopular nobody's bothered to look into it? Thought to be lost, I cover an anime nobody's seen clips of, or even screenshots of in 30 years. Kenny lauderdale takes a look at a sukeban anime so rare that even a single clip of it has never surfaced online. Found anime is rare, so we're lucky this wasn't forgotten forever. I also cover the circumstances surrounding this delinquent series & it's relation to sukeban deka & other 80s anime of the time. Less of an anime review & more of a series overview & look into this piece of lost media. Lost media anime doesn't come along often, but when it does it's time to celebrate. Unlike saki sanobashi this actually exists & got found.

Well in defence of that, it's a obscure Japanese Anime that doesn't have a English release written about on a website that anyone can edit. I say well done to that person who added it to even knowing that it existed.

It's pretty sad how ignorant Japanese publishers are to preserving the accessability of old media. Most anime never got a rerun and a lot were never physically released and even IF they find their way online, they get taken down by copyright strikes immediately.

And the video game side of things isn't that much better a lot of the time lol. I get maybe they weren't anticipating that ppl decades later would WANT to watch/play their stuff, but still you'd think just out of principle or something preservation of stuff hard earned money, exhaustive work and skill (and hopefully passion) of a team of ppl went into

It’s not just Japan. Back in the day Monty Python’s Flying Circus was run on the BBC and was hugely successful. The BBC then wanted to get this, save money by reusing the tapes and recording new stuff over the whole show. Thankfully Monty Python themselves bought the tapes from the BBC before this could happen on one of the most iconic comedy series of all time would have been lost. It’s appalling how many shows may have been lost this way.

We seriously need an anime museum for all those lost animes out there, once one is found it is to be recorded on modern mediums and the original tape put in glass display, in few decades some anime will be lost forever and might not be obtainable anymore.

There's just no demand for some things getting re-released. I didn't mention it because I found out AFTER, but even before the new asuka series they made another manga spinoff in 2018 called Blackmarket School Chronicles, so they had two chances within the last 2 years & still didn't bother releasing this.

@Maintenance Renegade Hoping to see it on KissAnime in 2020. If it got so much attention for being rare from this one video, people will want to see it. Nobody cares about the copyright to this: they didn't even care enough to let it exist beyond a few videotapes 30 years back. A ton of people watched "Twinkle Nora Rock Me" because of a meme, and it wasn't even good.

Tbh there needs to be a highly publicized lost media recovery project where people can mail their tapes in to some archive group to have them recorded and put online, then sent back to the owners if wanted or kept in a physical archive maybe. I hate to think of how much media we lose every year
@faceless2302

It's really heartwarming to find this on anime sites now, even with subs! Every piece of media that can be archived on the internet should be, it'd be such a waste to let people's work be completely lost, like this tape was in danger of being. The internet won't last forever either, but at least it's a step up from degrading physical copies.

Shout out to the guy who sent you the VHS tapes! Lost media is an eerie void so I'm happy that it was found! I think though that if the media never gained popularity or positive acclaim then it will fade into existence. For example, this anime was a fad and although the fad became big, the anime was not good. I think most lost media are lost because it never gained any profit or popularity to warrant the merchandise. This doesn't mean media should become lost by any means but just why it does.

Man, you're doing God's work digging out these hidden anime treasures. I hope you can find out what happened to Chironupp no Kitsune and why this anime never got any home media releases. Originally shown in theaters in 1987 it only aired on TV a few times up till early 90's and since then it disappeared completely. At least we have someone's low quality VHS recording of it available for download so it's not completely lost, but there's also a picture book release with high quality screenshots from the anime and it always frustrates me that we'll never see the film in quality as good as those pics.

We could totally argue the fact that he got the copy by some1 illegally as he didn't paid for it and watched it for free therefore he committed a crime. That sound totally stupid if you think about it but that's how they disguise "sharing" with the "piracy" label. (and I do know there are people who abuse of internet and sell illegal copies of media for own profit and yes THAT is piracy... but there's always gonna be people doing the wrong we can't do nothing about it, not for that we should stop "sharing" stuff between people who cares about the media and have no way to access to it other then by someone sharing / letting them said media)

I'm a movie collector, and I share your joy at finding an impossible rarity. I finally, after 15 years, found a copy of a musical movie that hasn't been released or exhibited since the early 1970's as it''s been the centre of an acrimonious copyright dispute between the studio that produced it, and the family of the composer of the original stage musical. In another case, i spent ten years seeking before finding a copy of a movie that was thought to have been completely lost in a studio film vault fire. Having the movie is only half the fun of collecting. The hunt, and the final rush when the hunt is successful, That's a huge part of the enjoyment for me. The longer the hunt, the bigger the rush of success. Oh, and I found both the anime's subtitled on Nyaa in the 12 minutes I've been watching this vid. Thank you for all your leg-work, it's GREATLY appreciated, One collector to another. It wouldn't be available NOW if you hadn't put all your hard work into finding it for us. Once found [if the film is free of copyrights] then it is VERY desirable that it be spread as far and as widely as possible into other collections so it can never be lost again.

peffiSC2source S He can still sell it and make a lot of money, simply because it’s physical media. Kenny doesn’t share because he could care less about spending to time to post a link or torrent it... despite putting hours of labor _editing scenes from the full show on his hard drive._ I’ve talked to him about this before, and his response was “ you put it out”... despite the fact that I don’t have the video and he does. Kenny just doesn’t care about actually preserving the video or sharing it with anyone. He just gets a kick out of posting videos talking about it.

@@TheRealNormanBates I mean, the value kind of drops if everyone can just watch it. And I agree with Kenny. If you are so keen on sharing this, go through the trouble he did and do it. He is a video content creator, not your personal lost media uploader. He has no obligation of actually sharing or preserving the lost media. He just likea to talk about it, which is alright with me. I personally have zero interest in actually watching most of the shows he talks about. I like his content because he goes in-depth about lost media and obscure information. I'd wager that a lot of people feel the same. If you actually want to watch it completely or somehow preserve it, why don't you ask Kenny in a PM who the donator of the tape was and offer to buy it from them?

@@peffiSC2source It seems ridiculous to me to make a whole channel dedicated to old media with a large section about lost media and then not care about helping to preserve said media. It makes him come off as an asshole hoarder who has no care for history or actual preservation despite constantly hyping himself up as a savior who brings us this lost content. Odds are the amount of effort this video takes is the same or even more than it would be to just rip it and upload to Nyaa.

peffiSC2source S who cares about the value other than those who own it for themselves? why do you want lost media to stay lost media for the purposes of a few people to make money? its incredibly selfish behavior. personally i cant even imagine owning something that NO ONE has ever seen and NOT putting it online somewhere. i still own the physical copy which is cool and people get to watch something elusive - its a win win unless you just really dont even like anime and just care about owning something that COULD convert to money but wont unless you sell it.
