This Healthcare REIT Is Best-In-Class for High Yield Dividends

(NYSE: HCP) has been busy restructuring its portfolio to focus less on skilled nursing and more on life sciences and that could allow it to deliver dividend increases to investors. With interest rates rising, is it OK to include this dividend stock in income portfolios?

I think the healthcare industry is probably the best one to invest in. Any industry where you can charge your customers $1,000 for an asprin is bound to pay their owners pretty well.

Mortgage REITs have no solid assets they only hold securities. They buy the morgages from banks in bulk so if they have a high default rate such as in 2009 they have no assets to fall back on

I hold a Morgtage Reit and I love it! There is more than black and white to that - not all are alike. btw. lots of Reits are Hybrid Reits that hold mortgage backed securities as well to diversify themself not everybody knows that. 😅👍

Priced too high right now. 78 million in cash and almost 7 Billion in debt. Better options out there.

@@emydan Reits made 20-50% return the last year. Today is not the time to buy REITs. It was early 2018 when you had to buy Emy Dan. You could have grabbed O with over 5% yield.

@@fitnesstoffer2703 Agreed. I've been looking for REIT's that haven't run up and I can' find any. Guess I have to wait to see if Fed and interests rates start tightening again, then REIT's will take a hit

REIT's, basically a cover for people who can print money out of thin air... You will rent everything and you will be happy....

@michael smith thanks for the comment, I wish I can get drip on Robin Hood it doesn't offer. I have both HPC & OHI. OHI has almost double dividend of HPC but no nobody talks about OHI I am wondering if I am missing something

@michael smith Most of it is free. You just put in stocks/tickers you are interested in and people who know about them review/analyze them. You have to take some reviews with a grain of salt (might be paid). There are subscriptions to those good reviewers, but even they have free reviews to keep their followers happy.

@@coopblack52 seeking alpha is good but it has its down side it interpaters your day so much notification, I didn't know how to mute it, so I had to block it. I have fools Rx for advice. I have not been the site for some time actually that how I found out about OHI Searching stocks with filters. But I don't know much so trying to learn but not putting the time it takes, I miss lot things. This kind of show is good from the professionals. I am hoping they will tell us the pros and cons of OHI if any sometimes it is tax complication or something. Thank you for your feedback and suggestion.
