I hope the medical community jumps on this to make this a reality for the world WITHOUT pushing this genius kid to the background.

@@galaxi407 She's applying for a patent. Willem Johan Kolff gave dialysis to the world. He didn't patent it. He travelled all over the world teaching people to do it. He saved millions of lives. One of his students, Robert Jarvik, heads his own biotechnology company. He got famous for the Jarvik 7 heart. He also was famous for the Lipitor TV commercials. You heard of him, but you never heard of Kolff, and Kolff continues to save millions even though he died in 2009. She claims to be seeking an "equitable plan" which seems to be in contradiction to seeking a patent. A true equitable pursuit would be to make it Open Source.

These young people are showing this world what they can do. I knew when I retired that there were a whole bunch of new people that would replace me, and it makes me proud of them. I'm so happy that I was right. The children are our future.

What a fantastic young lady. How many people who look like her are blocked, or held back. "Cost effective", that does not compute, for the Pharmaceuticals. They even tried to block her, from attending a science project. Exceptionally advanced, for her young age...wow!!!!

It started with an idea and with the help of her teacher it will become reality. This reminds me of the Rocket Boys of Coalwood West Virginia where 4 young men. Entered a science fair and won they went on to college and made good. They did not have to ever work in the coal mines again. It did open the doors for others to follow their dreams. Homer Hickam jr became an engineer for NASA the others succeeded as well. Now, this young lady is opening the door regardless of the hardships that one has to bear. So Congratulations Dasia I am in awe of what you have done and will be doing.

This is exactly what I told my kids. I love hearing about kids like this people like this so I can use as an example for my children to see that they're not just on this Earth to be a part of this dumb generation that there are some children who are just meant to do great things and hopefully mine or one of them. There are many many kids of every color I'm sure don't have "don't kill us" on their back pack and using their color as a jumping off point. All kids doing anything awesome today when the decline of moral and personal convictions, personal responsibility leaving these kids so fast it's frightening. Hat off to any high schooler wanting to make all of the world better. even wanting to start by making their neighborhoods better....

Black in general invented everything. This young lady is in that category too. I'm deeply concerned about certain ethnic groups will steal their ideas for financial gain. Black folks invented some of the the following: 1. The Automobile 2. The Internet 3. The fax machine 4. Caller ID 5. Call Waiting 6. The Cell phone 7. The digital touch dial pad for the telephone, thus replacing the rotary dial pad. 8. The leak proof diaper for babies.

Congratulations dasia, my advice to you is to keep race out of your great work. It’s totally not worth it.. people have lives, colour is a divisive construct. Fact is many black people may be disinterested in science, has nothing to do with inclusivity. Just try to avoid such political talking points. Not worth it. Love from a sister.

If you listen to the interview she states how she came up with the 💡idea. Why is it so hard to believe that AA women have genius within them....they do! She put in the work and made it happen. She actually won against all other competitors. That speaks for itself. I'm very proud of this young woman as her future looks very bright. She's obviously very intelligent.
