This amazing guitar player, songwriter and composer actually acted in some films later in his career.

Exactly what I was going to say. He was a musician for whom guitar playing and singing made him famous then did some films.

I mean for that matter Glen Campbell was in True Grit and I believe some other films, to call him an actor who also played guitar would be pretty silly.

@@rwfrench66GenX Yes of course, my point was that calling Jerry Reed an actor who also plays guitar would be like calling Glen Campbell one also since they both went on to act.

@@rwfrench66GenX Pardon me for being pedantic but The Monkees were half and half in that regard, Jones and Dolenz were primarily actors first but Nesmith and Tork were musicians first and became actors for the series.

My favourite picker. Jerry’s version of this Ray Charles classic is stunning and played with great feel, timing and Jerry’s sense of humour always comes through. The album, “Jerry Reed explores guitar country”, is one of my favourite albums and a master class of some amazing playing. I know that this tune is not on that album but it is a must have. Thanks for the video upload. Your hard work is very much appreciated.

This guy turned the Nashville scene upside down. Even Chet Atkins considered him a better fingerpicker than himself. Some years ago I spent a few hours transcribing this same video. Levi, if you ever consider doing more Jerry Reed's transcriptions please consider his "St. James Infirmary" version. I've seen it nowhere and I've struggled with it.

Love Jerry Reed. Amazing and unique guitar player. The story about Elvis getting Jerry to play on his cover of Jerry's song, "Guitar Man" still makes me laugh. His guys just couldn't play it like Jerry did! True legend!

I've always thought that Jerry was just a perfect example of entertainer. He seemed to truly enjoy all the aspects of music and his later film career. And some of that guitar playing he did is absolutely monstrous in terms of complication. But he always made the guitar playing look so damned easy and enjoyable and most importantly, not really the focus of the performance. It was as if that complicated guitar playing was just another tool in his trickbag to accomplish the end result of delivering a wonderful bit of entertainment to all of us. He truly was one of the most fantastic musicians and entertainer of the last century. Eric Johnson has frequently said Jerry was a huge influence on his playing. Thanks for posting this and transcribing it, probably not the easiest bit of guitar playing to notate. :)

Yes! What Comes Around (A film that Jerry actually directed) Is a stellar underrated film with a pretty great soundtrack produced by the legendary Al De Lory from Glen Campbells huge stardom days! Something Glen could never do was do a really good movie. At least Norwood has a alright soundtrack right?! RIGHT?! Nah. Jerry is fucking awesome, god I would LOVE a City of New Orleans tutorial, but it's so good, I know one day I'll learn it either way. Any Jerry Reed is still just a banger man, thanks for everything!

He may have been the best of all with multiple talents. Ii've been a Jerry Reed fan since the mid 60s. I am fairly certain Jerry also had a variety TVB show in the early 70s when I attended "University" (as you cousins across the pond say.). I am certain everyone here knows that Reed taught Glen Campbell the turnaround Campbell later used on "Rhinestone Cowboy." I could be wrong, but I recall Campbell state this sometime in the 80s.

I did that for years... you didn't watch them, because youtube didn't show them to you. Funnily enough, you don't search for things you don't know about, and youtube doesn't suggest things you've shown no interest in. This works.
