Just how deep does the ocean go? Way further than you think. This animation puts the actual distance into perspective, showing a vast distance between the waves we see and the mysterious point we call Challenger Deep.

The fact that the ocean gate submarine attempt to reach a depth that even a navy submarine could not do is mind boggling
@KINGREAPER950
@KINGREAPER950 11 ай бұрын
They are completely different machine for different tasks. A navy sub is like a lorry/bus designed to hold cargo and use space. The ocean gate sub is like a tank. Small ok the inside and designed to take lost of forces. Comparing the two just doesn’t work.

The effect of the pressure is that it applies a certain force to every unit of area. As it is a smaller vessel, it has less area, so experiences less overall force. It's ideal for these to be as small as possible, which is why they're packed in like sardines.

Google the "Trieste". It was doable for several reasons 1. Trieste was a bathysphere designed to do just that, basically a ball with 2 men inside hooked up to a propeller . Not a "sub" or submarine at all. 2. The mission was funded by the United States Navy, so plenty of money. 3. Record has never been broken because you cannot go any deeper than the deepest part of the Mariana trench. That's like saying "how come no one has climbed higher than Mr. Everest, which was done 70 years ago?

I guess it's because of never really been that into the earth based biological sciences and that's what ocean science is mostly about. Another thing is that ocean is fricken scary, and yet I'm somehow intrigued and not scared of the endless black vacum void with the random huge ass gravity wells that kill you, the endless distances between other stars, the intense heat in either direction of the spectrum, the lack of any atmosphere let alone breathable one, and the complete ignorance of what even lives out there if anything.

Kind of confusing honestly. 10km 910m/10 910m. 10 km? isn't it 10 910 miles? Why write m for meter when you wrote miles above so shouldn't it be miles? I get easily confused by inconsistency
