6 ай бұрынEver wondered what the Formula 1 of the sledding world looks like? Meet the Böckl - our traditional, DIY sled, straight from the heart of South Tyrol's Pusteria Valley. In this video, we're taking you on a ride beneath our house mountain, the Santa Croce, showcasing what we usually get up to on an after-school afternoon.
The Böckl isn't something you'll find in stores; it's a testament to our creativity and love for winter adventures. Crafted from an old ski, cut to perfection for those sharp, snappy turns, and topped with a simple wooden seat, this sled is the epitome of a handcrafted joyride. Building it is straightforward, but riding it? It's all about balance using your core muscles (six-pack proof), control, and a bit of courage!

I totally agree after watching this ,skiing is, for tourists. The Irish love fun (Craic) it's what we treasure more than anything .Watching you, your wife and boys having the craic is pure gold ,long may it continue, how good it is for your well-being and for the family, no winner, all winners, your kids will remember this all their lives. I loved your young lad explaining how the Bockl is constructed. Go and enjoy ,my god the fun, laughter ,yahoo's and dad taking up the rear filming, watching , you must have Irish ancestors. Whenever we got snow (rarely)we would get strong plastic bags put them under our butts and whoossh..............the Irish Bockl .If you are ever in Ireland you are all welcome to come visit.

E' sempre bello vedere e sentire un adulto divertirsi come un bambino. Io ho ormai piu' di 70 anni e il fisico non regge piu' ma dentro di me mi butterei pure io giu' da qualunque discesa,anche oggi. Bravi ragazzi.

We live in Ski town USA, Park City/ Deer valley, Utah home of the 2002 Olympics! We just hosted a World Cup Freestyle Moguls and the Ariel’s . Great event you should come over to watch the first week of February. We will come to visit Alta Badia and ski with you and your boys it would be a privilege. Thanks for your videos

Have skied there in 2004 late in March. We got so lucky that we had almost every day 20 to 30 cm of powder. That was a blast. Personally I loved Canyons with that 9990 chairlift taking almost to nowhere 😂

Hi Igor, we met on Wednesday and I was so thankful for your inspirational videos of you and your sons, there helped me recover and give hope after a back injury. My wife and I loved your latest video looks so much fun on the Bockl. Nothing like those in Britian lol. We had a lovely laugh watching flying the snow paths. Good Morning Igor, I am so impressed with the Bockl and amount of fun you are having I have decided I may have a go in building one out of some Oak Planks I have spare. No suprise I can't find any drawings, they will have been very individually made and handed down. Just need to find a spare ski somewhere. Thanks for the fun watching and again more inspiration. Yes right, it's all individual, you will never find Böckl made in series. There are also people that use the ski in their full length. Da Völkl a Böckl è uno schiocco di dita 😂 Ottima alternativa!! A fine Gennaio la scuola ci porta in zona Pecol al Civetta. Purtroppo un po' distante per tornarvi a trovare come ho fatto a Dicembre 🤔 A sudëi Igor

No il Böckl non é ne slitta ne sci, é un .... "bastardello" 😂 nato semplicemente per necessitá. Poi di slittini c'è ne sono di vari tipi, quelli da passeggio (quelli classici in legno), quelli da pista battuta (che si trovano in ogni noleggio dove poi c'è una pista da slittino), quelli da pista naturale (e qua siamo giá fra i professionisti: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/m6tiapSfnM_agps.html) e per finire quelli su pista artificiale come sport olimpico.

Hi Igor, Thanks for uploading this video. I like these Böckl thingies and your sons do too. Wouldn't it be nice to make another video with a tutorial of how to build these? For myself, I have decided to go on a ski trip this week in Austria. That means, I'm going skiing today. The ski trip to Italy with work has unfortunately cancelled. So I must watch all your videos this winter to be able to enjoy the picturesque scenes of the Dolomites and especially the area where you live. Many places in that video I am already recognizing from my ski trips of the past years.

@@UstariaPosta Ah yes, I understand that your hotel is fully booked during this time too. Maybe you could give the camera to your sons and let them make some skiing videos for the channel, if they like to. After these years, they probably know how this works too.

L'importante é poi la lunghezza dello sci, dipende dal raggio di curvatura che si vuole ottenere. Peró piú corto é lo sci piú equilibrio é necessario.

Cosa vuol dire "ustaria posta" ? bellissime discese e quel slittino è un po' più comodo della mia bassa Backman, questa è solo una pista per slittino? io scendo dalle 3 cime di lavaredo, da monte piana dal Nemes o Klamback ma trovi sempre gente sul tracciato, complimenti. Tanti saluti.

Ustaria é il nome ladino per osteria, Posta perché anticamente era anche l'ufficio postale e quindi con l'arrivo delle prime diligenze con la posta arrivavano anche i primi turisti. Forse come comoditá sono piú comode le Bachmann, ma come guida il Böckl é molto meglio.

I am Europe size 34 (very small feet). I'm sure they are much larger than me but you might remember what brand they wore when their feet were smaller. Gracie

I appreciate your suggestion about helmets, but let's consider the concept of risk compensation. In skiing, for instance, we've observed that despite more people wearing helmets, accidents on the slopes have actually increased significantly. Helmets can create a false sense of security, particularly for newcomers to skiing, leading them to ski more recklessly. They feel safer and, as a result, tend to take bigger risks. While helmets do offer protection, this can be offset by the riskier behavior they encourage. Here’s an experiment to try: ski one day wearing just a beanie, and then switch back to a helmet the next day. I'm willing to bet you'll find yourself skiing faster with the helmet, often without even realizing it. This is because a helmet can give you a sense of being in a 'bell jar,' altering your center of balance and perception of risk.
