I have a crossmen air gun .177 and I went into my papas hay barn with out a scope no iron sight and I got 3 crows and 1 pigeon

High powered air rifles produce enough recoil to throw the scope off all the time. Even with the provided scope and rings the scope may slide in the rings. I have had several scopes literally break from the stress of the recoil. I have 2 Gamo Bone Collector .22 cal air rifles and one of them has the Gamo Recoil Reducing Rail, which I suggest you buy and install on your gun too. I love both of mine, one is green and black composite stock, and the other is wood. They are very accurate at long distances. Definitely check on the Recoil Reducing Rail. The smell comes from the oils left in the barrel from manufacturing and to keep the barrel lubricated. It’s called dieseling, it burns off the oils when you shoot. You definitely should not dry fire a high powered gas piston air rifle either. I don’t know if you don’t realize it or not, but 1300 FPS is the same as some .22lr FPS. Those heavy pellets you bought won’t go that fast, but lighter alloy pellets will. Don’t shoot holes in the church roof, be careful. Have fun!

Great video, dont dry fire your pellet gun to much btw, it's hard on them when there's not the weight of the pellet to resist the piston when it fires, and it slams forward extra hard

Springers-don’t try fire, will break scopes if not made for springers.

On a 177 air gun the pellets vary in size and can make your accuracy off by a few centimeters each shot you doing good Kendall

You broke it when u dry fired it. The spring inside the gun, when dry fired, is like shooting a bow without a arrow in it. It blows up. I o ow this becouse I had bought multiple ones from halo and my first one, I dry fired and it busted.

A trick with Spring pellet guns is to hold it as loosely as possible so the pellet, which cannot make it out of the barrel of the gun in time, can consistently make it out of the barrel before the push and pull of the spring affects the shot. Consistently letting it buck the way it wants to buck will give you cleaner shots. If you shoot it like a normal gun it will be inaccurate Look up the “artillery hold” Many blessings - He is no fool who gives up what he cannot keep to gain what he cannot loose.

You can’t use the rim fire scope on a spring air gun. The reason is the double recoil. You have to use a air gun scope.

Kendall, i have gone through a few scopes on my RWS 36, reason being.......due to the shock of the spring powered air gun it jolts the scope as much as a 12 gauge slug gun i was told. Hope your KG scope holds up if not Amazon sells a nice actual airgun scope for about $60. If yours does hold up......ya got a good product! Keep up the great videos

Get ya some jsb pellets, most pellet rifles will like one flavor of ammo over others so if you want max accuracy you may have to experiment

You need to go on Amazon and order some airstar gold pellets. I used the lead ones for years and I switched to these they are so much better than lead pellets.

Make sure you get some airgun oil, and look up DIY blast bottles. Pretty much just 2 Lt pop bottle pumped up with a bicycle air pump but needs like 110psi to work right...

I’ve had a gamo for probably a good 10 years (the older model of the whisper) and it jerks like heck. The gamo sight is absolutely junk got a Simmons 4x32 and now I’m looking at your rimfire recon for my 1960’s jc Higgins .22. I’ve been watching you for a couple months now and you’re currently my go to binge during tooth surgery recovery, I love the content and keeping Jesus involved just makes it the best
