The only other thing is the electoral college, and what is worse is that could actually be democratic as well if all the states agree to a popular vote rather than a state vote for their electors.

I agree that we are a "constitutional republic" but it's also accurate to call our government a "representative democracy". These terms are not mutually exclusive. We don't vote directly on every issue, but we do vote for representatives who make decisions on our behalf, which is a key feature of a democracy. Every president in my lifetime, both Democratic AND Republican, has referred to our country as a "Democracy" (...if you're up for calling the US a country. I realize that the word "country" doesn't literally appear in the Constitution but most people can read between the lines)

It was frightening. But, when I went back and watched again, listening to what they said, it was very different. Trump was repeating the lies he tells during his rallies and not answering questions during his turns--easy to do--but during Biden's turns I could hear Trump talking **on Biden's mic** when Trump's mic was turned off, and it was distracting. Biden was sick (as they said beforehand), dealing with his stutter, answering the questions, explaining relevant plans with detail appropriate to the two minute time limit, and fact-checking Trump in real time, with Trump at least sometimes interrupting off-mic during Biden's turn. Lies tend to be believed if not called out immediately, and no one else was correcting the lies, so Biden had to do it, and for each question also shorten his answer and any information pre-planned to fit into two minutes based on how long he had just spent correcting Trump. I could never have done that at any age. He's old and he made some mistakes, but he's the expert on being president: foreign relations, going from he worst deficit ever to the # 1 economy in the world, fighting climate change, doing the hardest and most stressful job in the world, campaigning, and accomplishing a tremendous amount despite Trump and MAGA members of Congress lying and fighting him every day. Per health experts, he could not do so well at the 18 rallies (vs. Trump's 0) since the debate if he had dementia. Trump, on the other hand, has worsening dementia per a huge number of health professionals commenting on dutytowarn on X. But he was repeating lies he's said over and over and not answering questions, so only his impulsivity and increasingly disordered thoughts showed it at the debate.

Biden is staying in to give us the best chance of beating Trump. Per Allen Lichtman, co-developer of the system that has correctly predicted the presidential election vote for the last 40 years, **only** Biden has a chance of beating Trump. Harris is next. Everyone else is **far** behind. Donnie does not specialize in predicting that vote, and does not have a 40 year track record of doing it correctly.

@@pauldirac6243 not if we ban together and not divide. This is how Hillary lost.. its the same playbook with corporate media and elites.. The primary is over. The voters have spoken. Any other candidate had a chance to primary him but didn't. Can't sneak them in the back door now without the voters having a say. Biden has a VP for a reason and a good administration that I believe in. Once this mess is over, maybe certain people will remember that vs looking after their own campaign and donors. As a black woman voter, Biden has our support. We put him on the map in 2020 by giving him our vote in SC when he' lost Iowa and new Hampshire primary and we will have his back this time as well.
