billy joel has such range, like 'the longest time' is straight up doo-wop, 'river of dreams' has a gospel choir and synth, and 'the downeaster alexa' is an epic fisherman story. bonkers

Just goes to show how incomparable The Stranger is; this was like the 4th or 5th most popular song on the album and it still went Gold. "She's Always a Woman" is another lyrical and thought-provoking masterpiece. You shake your head that so much gold can be on one album.
