She is ultimately learning enough that she will be able to do just about anything. A lot of these skills create a mindset in how to address a problem, solve the problem etc. and that transfer to anything she will want to do. Add on to that her attitude about it and her future is unlimited.

As a teacher, I appreciate the way Matt goes about the business of teaching Lizzie. I also appreciate that Lizzie is an excellent student. It seems, at least on camera, that she is accepted and respected by everyone. She seems always willing to learn and do. For example: Matt: Who wants to get in it? (A vehicle sitting precariously close to falling off the road and rolling down a hillside.) Lizzie (trotting toward the vehicle): I will!

Lizzie is adorable. Watching Matt teach her hits home for me. A few years ago I bought a vintage Porsche for my daughter. She and I took on the project of fixing all of the little issues and getting the car back to 100%, everything working. Along the way we did lots of electrical and mechanical. It was fascinating watching my girl learn; she was like a sponge. It did take a while to get her proficient with a manual trans - I can personally testify that Porsche makes a strong trans, otherwise she would have torn it out. She told me that she was a little scared of the car at first, but now she says if anything goes bad, she’ll just fix it. It gives me great pride knowing that she will never have to rely on a man to fix her car.

@@isallah1kafir196 I'm pretty sure the previous hood was autodarkening, so you can adjust the darkness setting. What is probably the issue is they need to change the cover and possibly also the shade unit, just because it's so well abused. Lizzy I hope Matt shares this wit you... I have two granddaughters, 7 and 13. You are an inspiration. They have been, "hanging out with Poppa" in my home shop with me since they were able to walk. They watch their Dad and I on various projects, and we have brought them along learning how to use tools and work on cars (the 7 year old "helps" where she can, but she is getting used the environment and that is how ya start". When Matt first started showing you with a MIG Gun in your hand welding I knew it was time to get the 13 yr old on the welder. She was very hesitant, but after watching you weld, and seeing it is "no big deal" she jumped in and learned. I started her on a 120 MIG and now she can prep and do basic stuff with my 230 PowerMig. I am telling you, you really are an inspiration for young ladies who want to be able to do stuff, not just sit around and wait for and/or watch their boyfriends work in the garage. You are proof that a girl can be a girl and hold her own around a bunch of guys, not just in the Rodeo Arena but also in the shop. You will never know how many younger girls you have inspired, but I can tell you for certain you are absolutely making a difference for girls out there, and I thank you for it, and Matt for encouraging you and bringing you along,

Love all the Mentoring moments this organization provides. Some people don't know how to teach, rather impatiently intercede before completing a task that would suit just fine. The A/V department that catches all this detail is on par with many documentary videos. Keep up the great work. Thanks for bringing us along.

Having a good welding unit probably helps... When I tired MIG welding using flux core wire with a borrowed imported unit, I ended up with so much splatter to clean up, I went back to my old Lincoln AC-225 "Tombstone" stick welder because I spent more time removing splatter than the I spent removing flux with the Lincoln. Never could justify the price of the Miller units for just use around the house. I never tried MIG welding with a shield gas though...

@@CurmudgeonExtraordinaire same. I weld with my tombstone. Mig looks so easy compared to stick.
@JohnnyD1993

@@CurmudgeonExtraordinaire Flux core isn't mig. Unfortunately with a lot of the information available people use it interchangeably, which I believe causes improper welding techniques. Sounds like you were using it improperly. Lots of spatter is usually an indication of a amp setting to high. If you can stick weld you can run a FCAW. Splatter spray is a tremendous time saver. Experienced individuals have no problems running Chicago Electric flux core arc welders with cheap flux wire. Blaming the machine is an easy out.

@@CurmudgeonExtraordinaire - My husband taught me how to MIG weld on our little Miller 135 then our Millermatic 210. Both are have gas shielding. The Millers are expensive but we have an excavation company so we justified buying them. And we bought them second hand for a great price. Instead of laying ‘dimes’ I joke that I lay ‘worms’! 🤣. I’m still learning but I really enjoy helping fabric stuff and want to weld better. We just had to change out a cab on an excavator so we just got a set of torches and I definitely want to learn how to use the fire wrench! 🔥🔧🤟

@@JohnnyD1993 -- Understood... But I did not have the experience and this was before the vast amount of KZfaq videos on welding, so I was was failing and decided to just go back to something that I knew how to use -- oxy-fuel gas welding (not brazing) and stick welding... That was over 35 years ago, so maybe I should give it another try, but I have a pretty good supply of electrodes for stick welding, so I really don't have much incentive...

I'd also like to mention (once again - Ha!) that it would be really nice to see a build or an upgrade video of Rudy's Jeep - even if it wasn't on a regularly scheduled build / recovery video day. And on that note - maybe someday soon we'll see Trevor & Lizzie with their own personal recovery vehicles? Thanks, for this week's videos!

Wonderful video guys. Matt I wish you had been around when I was learning to weld. All the instruction I got was "put the ground on something clean, flip your hood down, scratch around till it arcs and go". Let's just say that 15 years later I've been blessed with many mentors and learned a lot from them and trial and error. You are an awesome teacher. Lizzy you are a breath of fresh air in today's world of stuck up entitled kids who aren't worth a darn. I hope you know how blessed you are. Matt's taking good care of you.
