This is going to upset some people... Time to cut up the Willys 🤦🏼‍♂️

One good way to upset both sides of the automotive internet all at once, is to mix Toyota and Jeep parts! I'm sure I'll get plenty of hate from the Jeep/Willys purists that don't think anything other than original parts should be put on them. Aaaaannnnndd I'm pretty well certain that there will be some Toyota Land Cruiser purists who are going to be especially mad that I'm going to put a Jeep body on an 80 series Land Cruiser chassis. But luckily for me, I don't concern myself with what other people think, and I do the things I want to do regardless. The goal with this build isn't to create an extreme rock crawler, or a full on daily driver. I want to end up somewhere in between with a vehicle that I can safely drive down the highway, but then wheel some decent trails with, and still have that big V8 power for when I want to get a little rambunctious with the throttle

Just some share...for what it's worth. I did my business for 38 years with no employees.. Saved a lot of hassle. Only thing is set up that Roth IRA or 401K and stick with it. The physical body will let you down and you will not be able to do the same things at 75 that you can do at 40 or 50! Also; stay away from alcohol...it can creep up and kill everything.

I am a one-man Land Surveying operation. I have had employees. I am terrible at managing people. The worst part about having employees is being responsible for them, and making sure they have enough work to do. All the time. Working by myself I can get to lunchtime and say "Well, I just don't feel like driving all the way to [wherever]" and I can go home and do design or drafting work, or be otherwise productive. With an employee you can't really do that so much.

I certainly wouldn't mind seeing more Scouts on this channel. Just my taste as a Jeep and Scout owner, I'm not a Jeep purist. I am a bit of a Scout purist though. It could be done tastefully though with the right donor candidate. In my eyes, Jeeps are like Harleys, the purest thing to do to a Jeep is change it. Scouts were pretty much perfect from the factory though :).

The bar across the dash of the snow jeep has a great place to mount cameras. And it has some places for the passengers to hang on to. The passengers in my CJ-5 complained about having no hand holds, so I added "chicken bars" all over and a roll cage, and many other items. Wish I still had that Jeep, but had to sell it.

Thanks for the update. Answered a lot of my questions. Personally I think your Willy's project is a great idea. And that you don't really give a f**k what I or anyone else thinks is an even better one. Life is too damn short to have any f**k"s about what other people think about what you're doing. I've been a fabricator/mechanic the bulk of my life. And I spend time in the heavy wrecker and heavy haul business. Besides watching your videos on your daily stuff when you were working with Matt on his heavy wrecker your skills were pretty apparent to me. Waiting in anticipation to see those skills in your current Willy's project.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts and life with us, Casey. That fire would be heartbreaking for anyone, and it set you off in a slightly different direction, which many of us viewers are reaping the rewards of. I am just fascinated by human creativity, and I applaud yours in dealing with your vehicles. Toyota and Jeep both seem to have their fans, but one of the things I keep hearing over and over is how adaptable the Toyota parts are to many differing applications, so it'll be interesting to see what you come up with. Good luck with it! P.S. - Your Jeep is just a few years younger than I am.

I totally understand your comment about road worthiness at hi way speeds. My hand built (everything) T Bucket is great at 60 MPH and lower. At 80, you had better have both hands on the steering wheel. PLUS, with the open cab concept that you have with a T Bucket, it is not pleasant to go 80 MPH on the freeway. It has 3:21 gears, so it is plainly capable of well over 120 MPH, BUT, not with me driving it. I built it to go off-road, and to just cruise around, which it does great. When I went down to meet Matt and Paul, I drove it through Zion National park, and it was super awesome. You can see sooooo much more than inside a vehicle. As far as you building a Jeep/Toyota, hey Casey, they are your vehicles, build them like you want them. The ONLY one that you need to please is you. But, you know that just as well as I. I loved your question/answer segment. We have your wind today here in southern Idaho. I have to go out to the shop and modify my rear shocks on my T Bucket AGAIN! This will be plan D. LOL I am doing my own (recalls). That is one thing about self-built vehicles, you always can see a way to improve something. I am curious, are you going to use the Jeep's vin # for title and registration. I had issues when I went to have my T Bucket titled. It was originally going to be a street legal dune buggy, but when I went the the DMV inspector to get it titled, he said, "Sorry Dave, I can't do it. It would be considered a 2015 vehicle, (this was in 2015), and it needs to have crumple zones, air bags, crash-tests, just like a new vehicle." I said, "There are T Buckets running all around with hand built frames." He replied, "a T Bucket I can title." Soooo, that is how I turned that dune buggy into a T Bucket. I was just wondering how the State of Oregon will feel about it. I would think that since it would look like a Jeep, they would consider it a Jeep. Our DMV inspector did tell me that my 1923 Ford Model T Truck needed to look like a 1923 Model T. Incidentally, my 1923 Ford Model T does not have even one Ford part on it. The body is a fiberglass replica.

When I bought my used 2012 Subaru Forester, as I live in a part of Canada that gets a lot of snow and ugly weather, I brought it to a Subaru specialist to do a pre-sale check on it. I have a background in music, and thus wanted to upgrade the sound system in the Forester, so I asked the guy working it if he had a recommendation to upgrade the stereo, and he, agast asked me why. He then went on and on about how great the one I have is, and that it would be horrible to put a non-Subaru part in it. I was fully intending to upgrade the stereo when I bought the Forester, and then the Plague happened. So I haven't gotten around to it yet. It's still on the list of things to upgrade. To me, unless it is a show vehicle, purists are just a little bit too obsessive about their hobby....
