I've read a lot of stories, I've watched a lot of stories and I've played a lot of stories and in my personal opinion, not one tops MGS and not one scene tops Snakes reunion with Big Boss.

This scene made me literally cry for quite a few minutes, than I bought Metal Gear Solid 3: Sustenance and saw the hardships and the choice he had to do and suffer from then on. I then replayed this scene in the game and in a sense I felt happy for him because he can now see EVA and The Boss again like he always wanted to and he also died knowing that his true son will be able to live his life all the way to the end like he didn't get to.

to think the mgs series all started with that man. something he never knew would unfold. but his country set him up to be this hero that the world looks up to. and now to think at that moment the most powerful person in history is gone.... R.I.P big boss. u went through so much, you fought against something that spiraled into a monstrosity. and now it over you can rest now. *stands straight, and salutes to the greatest hero in mgs history* well nvr forget yours and the bosss bravery.*tears fall

with the HD collection and the PS Store classic MGS1 purchased I can now live my dream of playing them all in order, with the help of the MGS database, this amazing, elaborate, and emotional story will unfold. God damn what an epic moment.

I think the line "The world only needs one snake... no, the world, would be better off... without snakes." had soo much meaning to it in every way you look at how he said that. It really resolved a lot of BB's conflicts with himself and The Boss and Solid Snake.

it's simply because when snake turned on the sigar he "tasted" it, and since big boss loved that type of sigar then asked if is the best over anything else (other cigars and cigarette) After the death of big boss while smoking snake decited to stop smoking, underline snake have fear of the death also if he is a strong man

i read that he was really John Doe but for people very close to him he was Jack thats why Zero and The Boss calls him Jack

Only after playing this game, I realized that the entire MGS franchise is not about Solid or Liquid Snake or any other character but Big Boss. Period.

However earlier in MGS4, DREBIN (the guy you get all of your hardware off) actually injects Snake with a new FOXDIE strain designed to kill Big Mama (EVA), Liquid Ocelot and Big Boss. The new Strain of FOXDIE injected into Snake by Drebin actually cancelled out the mutated FOXDIE so Snake was no longer at risk of becoming a walking biological weapon, but however the new strain ultimately kills Big Boss as it was designed to do, which Big Boss knew and accepted. I took that scene with another character : Gracious Viper (Rosa, a girl made on the same genetic model than Snake, considering the former as her father) jumped in Snake's arms, coughed a little ("Oh, a cold... It ain't a problem.") and as she snuggled up on her beloved father, she chuckled out Big Boss's last words before falling asleep in a cute, childish sigh.

No para-medic is the one that started the Les Enfants Terribles the project to clone big boss. And after Zanzibar she put big boss in a coma and then later Naomi put him back together.

Actually, there are numerous times where he is called John. He tells Para-Medic that his name is John Doe, and tells Ocelot that his name is John too. He's also called John Doe in some official material and at other times just John. But really, Jack is a diminutive form of John, so it's kind of both.

i know its name for corpses but everywhere its written that his real name was John, in his early years he was called Jack so thats why everybody who knows him well calls him jack, (i think its not important because after week on battlefield everybody looses a name for every fan of MGS he will be Big Boss

Well in MGS1 it's revealed that Snake is the carrier of a an artificial virus known as FOXDIE that was manufactured to kill all of the witnesses of the events of MGS1 (It was injected into him prior to the mission). However because of his rapid ageing (which is just a result of him being a clone, and the way in which he was cloned) the FOXDIE virus starts to mutate within him, to a point where eventually everyone will be vulnerable to it. Which means Snake will become a walking biological weapon

Big Boss is Solid Snake's father so to speak, and it's actually Solid Snake who kills him here with the FOXDIE virus, although unintentionally.

Masterpiece...somehow though i wish the music from mgs 2 and 3 played at this part. Would have fit perfectly.

Not sure. But big boss tells snake at the end of MGS4 that Naomi put him back together. I was hoping that the new MG Rising, would answer that question.

I teared up a bit when Snake lit Big Boss's cigar for him as the music swelled...and I am not ashamed. Call me a woman if you want (that is if you're a sexist jerk), but I am not ashamed. I almost cried during the playback of Naomi's video as well (this is a sad game, isn't it?).

You need to play some Metal Gear! LoL She did excruciating experiments on him basically torturing him and eventually turning Null into the cybernetic ninja that you see in MGS1.

Nah, the is the last installment of the Metal Gear Solid series from what i'm aware, in the condition Snake's in can't imagine what he'd possibly be able to fight next, except arthritis , the next one is Metal Gear Rising.

david hayter should of voiced big boss too since he was the original voice actor in mgs3 for big boss so richard doyle maybe voiced big boss because big boss voice could of change from aging i guess :P

@MyComicStyle Opinion? Fact, pretty much. In the age of CoD clones, most video game stories this generation followed this outline: 1. Someone gets assassinated 2. Find out a Russian is in charge 3. Find out Russian has nukes 4. Find out Russian has plenty of canonnfodder AI guards he'll send to the most obscure regions 5. Kill Russian, stop nukes, save the day, fireworks play & credits roll. I'm tired of it, honestly. MGS4's was brilliant, and moments like these remind me why I like the series.

Liquid Snake isn't Solidus Play MGS2, and all things will be clear ;) I don't wanna spoil it (you will find that almost on beginning of the game) that Solidus only pretended to be Solid Snake (to "harm his image" I guess).

I think you aren't completely right. Big Boss was the driving force behind everything; an idealist who wanted to rid the world of wars, censorship, opression and make it perfect. Still, we get to play as another hero, Snake. I think he deserves the Solid in the Metal Gears and the games he stars in are definately about him, because he fights for his own ideals. In that light, I believe that the future of MG should include a new character, but have these two as legends who changed the world.

Unlike big boss. David won't have to continue the fight because of the patriot end. John was finished the day he killed the boss.
