Johnny Collinson welcomed Sam Anthamatten and Duncan Adams to his HOME in Little Cottonwood, Utah, the gateway to the Wasatch mountains that shaped Johnny into the freeridin’, freewheelin’ ripper that he is today. The riders show off the best of Johnny’s backyard secret spots and favourite lines - charging couloirs, hucking cornices and stomping cliffs. The result is this full Utah segment, straight out of THIS IS HOME, released early for your viewing pleasure. Kick back and enjoy!
THIS IS HOME will drop on December 5. Be the first to get it. Sign up at thisishome.film.

Snowbird was my home mountain. I've had multiple seasons of 100+ days of 10k feet/day minimum. *Snowbird adopting the Fast Pass GUARANTEES I'll never ski or go there again.* I've attended wilderness survival training, wilderness medicine, as well as advanced avalanche prediction and recovery training at The Bird, but the Bird gave us THE BIRD with Gast Pass. BYE BYE BIRD!

DO IT! I grew up skiing the best the east could offer... Jay Peak, MRG, The Slides at Ice Face, Tuckerman's Ravine with a yearly trip out west. The opportunity to move to Utah came up and i jumped all over it. It was the best 15 years of my life. Skiing continuously until the 4th of July multiple years. Skiing a 40 footer or hucking a 60 is almost a weekly event when at a place in Utah. Screw the bird now that they've adopted the pay more extra fast pass crap. But, Solitude, Brighton, Powder Mtn, Snow Basin... school bus skiing at Powder is a blast!

Anyone know what bindings he rides on for Backcountry? Tech or Frame?
@patricpeters9716

Took me a while to find out, but both Collinson and Anthamatten ride CAST Freetour bindings. The front binding swaps out between a Tech (CAST's own version) for walking and a Look Pivot 18 for ripping downhill.

ok dont laugh but here is a question all i have ever skied are groomers Hv New york at the most 1 ft of powder, when you do a Big jump and land in the powder in your vidoes do you hit hard? or is there so much give it is super soft landing?

Solden_The_Skier Powder makes you land backseated more than park.

think of it as resistance on your legs.. average base snow for groomed trails is like 100 cm.. average base for mountains is like 25ft plus 6-10 foot of powder.. its like weightless floating my man and drops are heavenly.. its the speed thats the hard part it comes quick

How come most of them seem to have centered stances on their skis? I would assume they would set it back for powder? eg 0:45
@salsamanrocks
@salsamanrocks 6 жыл бұрын
They have their skis center mounted, similar to a park ski. I'm pretty sure they do this so they can ski backwards and so they have as much ski behind them as they do in front so the weight doesn't feel weird spinning in the air

Center mount is new school, and you don't need to be back, even in powder. Newer skis have camber under foot but rocker on the tips and tails, so they tend to want to rise up out of the snow. That combined with alot of width make powder skiing even more heavenly! Get a pair and see for yourself.
