It's not actually, not going to ruin the discussion but sadly this is just one of the global warming effects Usually they would have a nest under the ice, but today the ice is too thin for the parent to create a nest, that is why the parent had no choice but to leave the baby on the surface, which causing them to get eaten by polar bears much easier The parent should be somewhere nearby under the ice, hiding, and if a polar bear is spotted, the baby will run to the hole created by the parent and join them under the ice (the sea)

A fun fact is that usually arctic species don't see many other types of animal, and can't even comprehend that you might be something foreign. So they assume that you are a weird looking individual of their species or something.

詳しくないけど多分、 体色は雪に紛れるための保護色で、 もちもち感は厳寒に耐えるための脂肪で、 ぱっと見生きるの諦めたフォルムは陸上での捕食を捨てて海中での狩りに特化した機能美。 運命的に可愛く生まれたんだと思います。

He was such a great photographer. He stayed in the cold for hours and even fought the cuteness of the seals to introduce us to such a beauty of a creature. Rip Rei San you will never be forgotten.

His community section on KZfaq is heartbreaking. My heart goes out to all of you that recently find his videos through recommended on KZfaq, and ask yourself; this was 5 years ago I wonder what he does today. Today he’s remembered. God bless him and all the wonderful work he did, giving us a glimpse of a world average humans cannot comprehend. Thank you for being loving and compassionate enough to document this footage for us, and most importantly; Rest In Peace.

ピント合わせるためかもしれないけど、寄ってくるアザラシの赤ちゃんに対して一定の距離を保ちつつ撮影するその姿が推しを前にしてちゃんと距離感を守るオタクに見えて大変素晴らしく感じました(小並感)
