I arrived at the capital city's airport today and went straight to the main bus station to get on a ride that will direct me to the southern parts of the country where cities like Mirissa, Matara, Galle & Weligama lie. I didnt expect this unexpected memorable encounter with the locals of Colombo, in Sri Lanka.

Do not get confused or embarrassed when a Sri Lankan asks about your age or marital status. Asking about your age helps them determine whether you are older or younger than them, which influences how they address you. If you are older, they will treat you with the respect they show their own elders. If you are younger, they will be friendlier, like with their siblings. Marital status is just a common question to get to know someone better. Cheers ❤❤

I'm in the tourism industry in a small scale. All the tourists I have met so far had nothing but good things to say about the people in Sri Lanka. They loved the train rides especially to the hill country and the quality of our new trains with first class AC cabins. The constant negative I hear is about taxi drivers. Majority of Three wheeler drivers and some car taxi drivers as well. This is one area we need stronger reforms.

train ride for them is good but not for own country ppl . i have been suffering from this train problem for over 8 years and still im suffering, a few years ago we could buy a ticket for 40 rs and now its 120 rs

@@xx__miqu__xx3812 My friend tat's called inflation. Its a fact of life. When i went to college a liter of petrol was Rs. 13.50 :) Still Sri Lankan train tickets are really cheap. A cigarette is 160 right, so is a loaf of bread... so a 40 ticket now at 120 you should not complain

Bro, The local name for betel (that green leaves) is 'bulath,' yeah It's not healthy with tobacco. You can enjoy it without tobacco. With some pieces of areca nut and a little bit of lime, it's very good. And keep in mind it's not a food. so don't eat any of them and Do not swallow. chew and throw the saliva that comes into the mouth. Try it once when you have time again. Safe Travels. 🇱🇰

@@sirkhizer You have the famous galle fortress.. and beautiful beaches out here... and also there are some museums inside galle fort as well... you can visit to a hidden beach called jungle beach... and you can watch corals and turtles at hikkaduwa... There are much more...❤️

@@sirkhizerThese buses have no specific name. They are privately owned buses so are called private bus. The red buses are run by government transportation board. However there are some policies being brought forward to reduce lights and distractions in the private buses.

@@sirkhizer”Sthuthi” means thank you in Sinhala. It’s pronounced as “Ssthuuthi”. But we locals use “Thank you” in our day to day life. If you wanna impress locals, then use “Sthuthi” or you can simply say “Thank you”.

@@sirkhizer yeah but. You can only buy two leaves for Rs.20. Normally A leave cost about Rs.10. Just because he was a whole seller. His price could be Rs.5 each, you can only buy 4 leaves for 20.
