In February 2021, an inquiry began to explore the introduction of new coercive control legislation in New South Wales, Australia. This video features Dr. Karen William's response to the question: you say the system is perpetuating coercive control; can you explain that?
On July 20, 2022, one year and five months after her testimony, legislation was introduced to criminalize coercive control with a punishment of up seven years in jail.

Coercive control is layered and extensive. It completely explains why victims are unable to get away from abuse, and how victims aren't able to *really* become "survivors" in reality. It just continues. With all of the AI/ML layers out there and ecosystems, shouldn't people be able to understand this more? So much goes into each situation.

I’m a man and a woman has destroyed me by using coercive control. What chance do I have when people speak as though it’s the woman who is the victim?

Hi Adam, We are so sorry to hear what you've been through. We do acknowledge that people of any gender can be perpetrators of domestic violence and statistically as it stands today, the majority of cases are male perpetrators and female victims. If you need assistance, you can contact www.thehotline.org/.

Men and children can be subjected to Coercive Control. Patterns of behaviour can usually identify this and hopefully the new law will be well implemented. Sorry you have been through this, my brother has too. Though the stats show us women are more likely to be subjected to coercive control that doesn’t mean it can’t happen to anyone.

This was good! US is exactly the same. As we all know we lose our children when custody is given to the domestic terrorist perpetrator!

This is sexist. It goes both ways. As a stay st home father I was subject to all of this.
What is the difference between a settlement negotiation and extortion? A tool for you to use!
