An actual real debate is where you go back and forth several times, revealing the differences in their policies, based around one particular issue. You can debate a couple issues, that's fine. But you could easily spend 2 hours on just one topic, for example abortion, or the USA borders, or foreign wars. Every issue deserves to be debated, and we didn't get any debate at all. But this "debate" was still very telling so we could learn alot.
