A hint my home inspector gave me about jetted tubs that had been used by the previous homeowners. Fill the tub up with water, pour in bleach and run the jets. This way you can clear out any oils, skin cells, etc from the previous owners.

In NY, Toronto or London, they don't make you pay 1 to 2 years rent up front bc of the credit system. And it’s not the “so called west”. There’s nothing “so called” about it. Some people have mentioned on the comment section that houses in ghana look cold and not cozy. One reason given for that was that the houses are made from concrete. I have to say on the one hand I do agree with the comments that alot of the houses showcased on you tube do look cold and depressing, but it's not because they are made from concrete. I love houses and real estate. I'm even building myself and have done a few times. I've also seen a few show homes here in ghana of top quality builds that are made of concrete. My conclusion is, is that a lot of homes have poor designs, so it doesn't bring out the best in the final finished look of the home, often the rooms are a bog standard square, with bog standard square Windows. Also the finishing materials are often of poor quality, e.g., tiles, paint, fixtures and fittings, which also adds to the coldness of the finished look. I've noticed that a lot of architects or builders care nothing about bringing natural light into the home. It is not a priority . This also adds to the cold look of the final product. There are homes here that are built to an international standard, unfortunately most of them are not showcased on you tube. That's why when I build I make sure all these negative elements I've pointed out are eliminated. Oh yes and burglar proofs on Windows do not help .
@downy1202
@downy1202 3 жыл бұрын
You are correct the home feels large. The reasoning you stated is very understandable in regards to construction and the end product. Since you are a builder do you have websites that we could see more international standard homes? That would also be nice to see.
@Miidi8787
@Miidi8787 3 жыл бұрын
International or Western standards are not always the best or even preferred in an African setting. If you look at traditional Ghanaian architecture, the homes are mostly cool & dark. People want to escape the heat after a long day, not let it in. Shade, good air circulation, security & insect prevention are of a much higher priority in this context than natural light, especially when sunshine is readily available almost year round. Large windows are also robbery magnets. Most residential buildings bar windows with metal as an extra security precaution. For the average person it’s more affordable to add those metal bars to an average sized window than floor to ceiling glass just to let light in.
@kehindeemiabata4032
@kehindeemiabata4032 3 жыл бұрын
@@Miidi8787 sorry but I think we have to beg to differ. All those reasons you stated for having that cold depressing finish ,can be achieved without having that cold look finish. Construction in Ghana has really moved on, especially in the last 15 yrs and having a cool, secure building can be achieved without small Windows, burglar proof etc. I just think a lot more builders need to be more creative with there designs .

@PaballoMo 3 жыл бұрын
@@kehindeemiabata4032 I agree with you. Watching these house tours makes me so grateful that I'm from SA, and our architecture and interior design is really top notch. Other African countries are yet to see the value and beauty of natural light plus green space on the outside instead of paving everywhere.

You are renting a Mansion. That house is huge. Usually, homes that have taller ceilings are cooler homes. I wonder if the house is so hot because of the way it is built. When I lived in Atlanta my house had very tall ceilings and I did not have to use so much energy to cool the house. That house is very nice. If you owned it you could have put more furniture in it to make it more homely. You could have created a lounge area in your bedroom since it is so big, that is what we do.
