Hi, I had just one question. I have been practicing the knuckleball for a few weeks now and I can surprisingly hit the ball with minimal spin 50 - 70% of the time. The problem I'm getting is the lack of height, as I can get lots of movement, but rarely kick the ball above chest height. This has two problems, being that the ball has less time to move, but also, as knuckleballs tend to dip a lot, it reaches the ground pretty quickly. I was wondering if you have a way to get more height on the shots without backspin.

Hey there! Excellent question! The main thing people always say with knuckleballs is “hit it just under the center of the ball, so it has lift”. While I think that that is (partially) true, hitting it so “high” deadens the ball. I try to hit the ball a bit lower, but still striking through the heart of the ball, thereby creating the lift. Be careful not to hit it too low or too hard, because then it will just turn into a backspin shot or it’ll blast over the bar. Keeping the rest as is, the height on your shots should increase, without damaging the amount of movement!

Hi there! Thank you, first of all! Secondly, the balls I use are FIFA tested and certified, although I have never seen them in professional matches. I do believe that they are allowed though. As for how the ball should be, I find that tough to say, as I pump them up with air to my touch. If I think they have too little air, I add air. If I think they are too full of air, I let some air out. It all comes down to personal preference.

I tried to use the same part of the foot to kick the ball (little bit below the center), but when I do that, the toe part of my boot already hit the ground. Should I place my kicking foot more horizontal? (or make huge angle with my supporting foot)

Yes, I would encourage you to try it. As long as there is a clean connection between where you want to strike the ball and the ort of your foot that you want to strike the ball with, then only the follow-through matters. If you keep that minimal/zero, it should create a knuckleball

All the way from Nepal! ❤️ much appreciated mate! I draw my inspiration from both Messi and Ronaldo, I have no bias towards either, and I love the way that Kroos, Modrić and Xabi Alonso play/played, so I adapted my playstyle to match theirs a bit!

I don't actually agree with that. Even sometimes if you don't want to hit a knuckleball, you hit it. It takes a lot of practice, I've been practicing for years, and still can't get it sometimes. It's not easy, but not impossible.
