It's finally here, my 62nd & 900 Subscriber Special. This is How you DON'T Play, Castlevania Anniversary Collection. It has all 4 games in one convenient video. Took a really long time to make, but I'm really happy how it turned out.
I never played these games, but I really like to after playing. I never even seen that infamous AVGN episode that Phil like to reference when playing Simon's Quest (which is the 2nd game). If I see it for 4 bucks on Nintendo Switch eshop, I'll pick it up. I just really wanted to see a TiHYDP for this game, so I decided to make it.
Because Phil put all 4 games in one playlist, I'm only going to count this as 1 TiHYDP & not 4. Kinect Star Wars Galactic Dance-Off & Kinect Star Wars Jedi Destinies is in 2 separate playlist, so I count that as 2, even though it's one game. Enjoy!

I still find it hilarious that he pointlessly saves state on Castlevania 2 since you respawn near the exact spot where you died and the only consequence for getting a game over is that you lose all of your hearts

Oh my God, the part where Phil kills the snake statue, does a little taunt, and then walks up the stairs into a skeleton that spawned has me in tears. This is the funniest shit I've seen in a while.

Fun fact: Fight with Death is very similar in Rondo of Blood (but you have even less room, plus bottomless pits to deal with), that is where I got my training and beaten this one fairly easily. Plus stage before Death is the same in both games (but Rondo has Death as a boss later than Castlevania I)

These save states are doing an amazing job at showing how incredibly dull Phil is. Rather than try to learn, he just powers through. Meanwhile, all you get from him is a feigned, often overacted 'Oh nooooooooooo.', 'Awwwwwwwwwww.', 'ack-ack-ack-ack-ack'. If 3 people sent me a penny every time he does one of those, I would be able to pay off my house.

Hearing your reactions when you fall into a Death pit is classic. AVGN quality. It sounds like you're witnessing Simon getting kicked in the nads by one of the enemies. In fact that should be an actual enemy. That'll make you jump backwards into a pit.

Dude. You have so much patience. The hit detection on enemies is abysmal, and yet super convenient for hitting you. Not to mention how limited in movement and attacks you are. The difficulty in games back in the day was so ill.

I beat this game when I was ten on the NES. I couldn't save it right before the boss and reload when I died. I had to start from the beginning of the level every time I died. No save game at all. Everytime you left and came back, you had to start the game over from the beginning. And I didn't have stream Chat telling me where hidden items were or how to defeat enemies. We didn't even have internet then. It was difficult. Falling off platforms sucked. I figured everything out myself and it was satisfying when I beat the game.

But then games were also short, only six levels or maybe eight. Even the first Mega Man had only ten stages in total. So ofcourse they made the games more challenging for people to come back for more.

Oh my I don't get it, I played a lot of Castlevania 4 and he probably died more often in this one run than I did in all my time combined, but then most of my deaths came against the spear-wielding chicken skeleton boss, and apparently he did that on the FIRST TRY? How does he exist, he makes NO SENSE!

No no no wait wait wait. Im dying here. First he spams the time stop, doesnt see the bird and jumps into it taking damage. Then he jumps over the fireball, then stops the fireball in front of him and then walks straight into it taking damage once again and calling the game stupid. Dsp - the reigning worst player champion for 14 years straight. He cannot be beaten and im dead serious. Ive seen Chance Wilkins fail at a trucker simulator, getting stuck on the freeway and getting lost in a parking lot but Phil is straight up worse.

Dude, I love your videos. I watch all your tihydps, but this is unwatchable. As someone who loves the nes Castlevania, and has been playing it since the game came out, watching Phil save scrub though it is infuriating. This is clown content only made for idiots. I know you're doing your best with what you are given, but there is no saving this gameplay. I commend you for trying to polish a turd, but there's no way to make this watchable.
