This is How You Know if Your Frontal Lobe is Developed #brain. The frontal lobe, a key region of the brain located at the front of the cerebral cortex, plays a critical role in numerous cognitive, emotional, and behavioral functions essential for human behavior and decision-making. Its intricate network of neural circuits and connections enables a wide range of complex mental processes, including: Executive Functions: Perhaps the most well-known function of the frontal lobe, executive functions encompass a set of higher-order cognitive abilities that facilitate goal-directed behavior, planning, problem-solving, and decision-making. This includes tasks such as reasoning, abstract thinking, working memory, and cognitive flexibility. Motor Function: The primary motor cortex, located within the frontal lobe, is responsible for the initiation and control of voluntary movements throughout the body. This region coordinates motor commands and fine-tunes movement patterns, allowing for precise and coordinated actions. Speech Production: Broca's area, located in the left hemisphere of the frontal lobe, plays a crucial role in the production of speech and language. Damage to this area can result in expressive aphasia, characterized by difficulties in articulating words and forming coherent sentences. Personality and Social Behavior: The frontal lobe is involved in regulating personality traits, emotions, and social behavior. It helps individuals inhibit impulsive actions, control emotional responses, and regulate social interactions. Damage to certain areas of the frontal lobe can lead to alterations in personality, emotional instability, and impaired social judgment. #psychology #psychologyfacts

I don't have the correct sources but many therapists already said that trauma or neurodivergence can stunt brain development and it's as if for traumatized people, they stay a certain age until they resolve it The only thing I can say correctly is that Google did say that trauma can stunt brain development because your brain was more trained to keep you safe rather than develop normally

@@palestar828Probably due to it being common for people to say/think that trauma makes you mature faster, so they think it mean brain development. I wish people would stop thinking that, because usually those that appear decent despite trauma are infact struggling. Somehow ending up almost emotionless is going to be seen as mature among other traits, when it's often actually not healthy and is instead as a result from trauma. There are also those who don't turn out well. It seems like a more likely explanation for why someone managed to turn out well despite something difficult is because they were given the tools to cope with them, which you don't get through abuse but through guidance and positivity. I didn't mean to rant to you, but this is just something that get to me, because it's one of the most harmful misconceptions regarding human psychology.

When I started elementary school, I was dubbed a child prodigy, being able to read and write correctly, solve math problems and draw well just at the age of 7. My IQ was well above the average for my age. My biggest dream was to become a scientist. I had a good memory, was well organized and learned fast so I was praised a lot by teachers and my classmates hated me for it. Eventually, my brain got destroyed by intense school bullying and violence. Today I am 26 years old. I am diagnosed with OCD and severe MDD. I am resistant to antidepressants and doctors think I have developed ME/CFS (Myalgic Encephalomyelitis/Chronic Fatigue Syndrome). I never reached college, I'm constantly tired and my cognitive skills have dropped so severely that I have lost most of my english (not my native language) skills and I'm slow to form correct sentences in english as well as my own native language. My dreams are crushed. Last year I discovered that I can't take care of myself anymore and I lost my job. My My brain is at it's end. I expect to develop dementia before 40, if I even live that long.

I’m just trying to hang on to hope, you could say 😅🤣. I truly hope that things improve (& that we don’t get dementia before we are 40 😅🤣) despite the setbacks that have been faced. Do you leave the house much/socialise? Sometime I wonder if the cognitive decline is due to that, in my case, for far too long. This is due to certain research that has surfaced about the cognitive effects on those isolated in prison & during the p@ndemic. I have neurodivergence’s as well; so it’s definitely not the only reason in my case. Don’t want this to be way too long, so I’ll end this by wish you, & all who happen to read this, a lovely dae/night/life❣️ Peace ☮️ in & out ✌️ May you, & all who share a similar story, find the happiness, success & prosperity that your younger self deserves 🙏💚

@suoinchrist It's not that you're less wise, but we have different strengths and weaknesses, and with ADHD, that might mean our weaknesses are a lot of the frontal lobe-related stuff. It's disappointing to know that your brain will never work the way others' do (I have ASD in addition to ADHD and at 18, I am considered very immature compared to my peers) but that doesn't necessarily limit what we can accomplish. I may be immature in a lot of areas (mostly executive functioning and social skills-related), but that doesn't mean that I'm not mature in other areas. I can also exercise my weak areas. For instance, in the past few years, I have gotten much better at understanding and responding to social cues. I also have less meltdowns now. Those things might be harder for me than for other people, but everyone has difficulty with something. This is just ours. I wish you the best.

I feel very grateful and lucky for that, obviously I still have traits like the need for stimming, quick overstimulation, etc, but I feel genuinely wiser than before. But I realise that is simply luck on my part, because a lot of my neurodivergent peers are still struggling with things that I’ve gotten good at. Everybody’s different. It’s awesome to see everyone get better at certain things, though, even if they need their own pace.

But humans are HUMAN. No human is FULLY capable of things like not getting distracted, effectively planning, controlling emotions, etc. It's just that adults "should" be better at it. You don't need to hide behind a diagnosis to explain why you're not a hyper efficient robot. Give yourself some slack - you're HUMAN. Sure, things like ADHD, ASD, etc. make it MUCH harder than a neurotypical, BUT don't hold yourself to unrealistic standards either. So many unrealistic comments. It's okay to be human!

Sure the fall may make it faster but you shouldn't hide behind explanations like that to excuse being human!" No, dipshit, the person died because he fell off a building. Jesus Christ, everyone's an expert now. The next time you want to comment on a subject, please make sure that you've actually read about it at all (Facebook doesn't count) before anymore shit comes out of your mouth.

I'm 32. I can't do most of these things, all of the time. I have had a ton of trauma starting at birth and still hasn't stopped so 🤷‍♀️ I have literal PTSD, anxiety, and depression. On the autism spectrum too.

My gut instinct follows my frontal lobe. In fact, it's what has brought me to understand what maturity looks like vs pleasure orientation in making decisions and routines.

For me a big jump in development was at 18, a smaller one at 20, and just recently at 23-24ish some even smaller changes. I can only describe them as seeing the world clearer. The one at 18, was wild! 😂 I looked back on myself in the past a bit embarrassed by the stuff I did. Also had words for behaviors I displayed as a kid. Like the touch of sadism I felt when I believed an injustice was done against me. Me enjoying seeing/causing discomfort or suffering to the one I thought deserved it for treating me badly. Minor's brains go brrr... 👁️ 👄 👁️ Not much foresight. But satisfied nonetheless with those small, cringy 'liveable' regrets. Goofy ahh kids, should always be allowed to enjoy their goofy ahh childhoods. 😊 Savor each second, there is no going back.

For those of us with Adhd, it's roughly around the age of 35. We can also be behind in emotional maturity by around 30%. It's pretty wild 🙃

I have adhd, but I feel like my rationality increased at 20 years old. I used to be quick to get angry but now, even if I feel angry, I don't react and just let it go. It feels like I don't have the energy to start yelling anymore. I have depression every now and then, but it's not as extreme as it was in highschool. My fear has also been regulated too, I used to be absolutely afraid of rollercoasters before, but now as an adult I absolutely love them. I'n thinking maybe my masking has boosted the progress, or I've just not seen shit and there's more to be seen.

I'm 30 and I still feel like 15 sometimes. I've got AuDHD, childhood trauma, etc, and although I do adult things and I'm literally a parent I feel as though I'm not as adultier as other adults. I live a fully functional life and know the difference between right and wrong but I guess somedays my traumas make me go with decisions that aren't as healthy for me (like eating half a cake).

That's not how that works either.. the process is very complex, those with conditions often develop slower but your life and experiences through life are the main player in development.
