I have one.. not expensive and very stable! If it wasn’t I wouldn’t be in it, cause I am a chicken sh*t… I fish standing up all the time .. highly recommend this yak for those who can’t afford the Cadillacs of kayaks

Hi Aliex - I’ve watched several of your videos and they always contain good information. It would be nice if you could develop some form of standardized method of testing the stability (what does it take to flip a kayak). Car testers do accurate 0 to 60 tests, g-force cornering tests, braking tests. Power tool testers have developed all kinds of accurate and reliable ways of testing the power of the tool or some other trait of the tool. Not sure how accurate your personal experience is while rocking a boat back and forth. I once read an auto magazine comparison of a Honda model vs a Mazda model. They said that most of the time the Mazda “felt” faster, but that most of the time the Honda was faster. They knew the Honda was faster because they had an accurate way of determining that. Just sayin 🙂. Keep up the good work.

i have a system, it will never be as accurate as running a car on a race track why? because water conditions are always ever changing, even I change, weight 190 in some, 185 in others. Plus there is almost no interest in kayak flipping tests. I think these videos are good enough to give the kayaker an idea of how it may be like, they should practice flip and recovery on a safe place with help and PFDS

Your forgiveness is secondary stability. The unit has a buoyancy limit of 470 pounds. Subtracting 78 for the hull weight you get a 392 pound carrying capacity limit. The builder states a paddler suggested weight of 200 pounds. The hull has a rather chunky appearance to be able to carry that weight but handles well. Where are the rod mounts? The drive is not sealed and is open to the elements but states the builder it requires no care. questionable. Since it's open to the water I hear it sinks if dropped in. For the cost it appears to be a viable option in the recreational arena.

prop is too long, hits the hull, you can trim it if you want

You are not overly large; I wonder how much water it takes on with say, 250 standing in it? It says max displacement of 470, and I worry about the water. Other than that and the prop being so long under the boat, it looks like the best head-to-head competitor with the Pelican HDII Catch 110. Those were the two I was looking at two years ago and really, they do seem to match well with the Riot looking more stable and faster. That Pelican was very reliable and good to me. Slightly heavier than this one. Would you say the Riot Mako is good for recreational anglers like the catch, or maybe a little more?
