Definetly at some point woke up too, tried to get out but pushed himself further in, then panicked because he was in a dark, cold, stincky, narrow space with no light, passed out of fear ( and that's how he got into the fetal position) and then died of hipotermia in his sleep.

I think that is a possibility. However, if this is the case, it raises new questions about why he was already suffering from hypothermia before entering the septic tank, and it is puzzling that his entire body was completely contained in the septic tank. As you can see in the verification video, it is quite difficult to completely immerse one's entire body in that septic tank. Therefore, I doubt whether he was able to put his whole body into the septic tank while he was delirious due to hypothermia and his muscles were stiff. If you were to enter that septic tank, I think you would have to be persistent and shift your body little by little. So, even if he tried to enter the septic tank in a delirious state due to hypothermia, I think he would get stuck in the middle of the pipe, as shown in the verification video. So personally, I think he ended up in the septic tank himself for some reason and then died of hypothermia.

According to the autopsy results, it is estimated that Naoyuki died around February 26th. The teacher took paid leave from February 24th to 27th and returned to her parents' home. And she came back to her room on the 28th. So I don't think it's possible for the teacher to kill him.

The fact that one shoe was miles away from the scene and the one with the body was in a place that would block the man from seeing up to the toilet hole gives me the clue that this man wasn't trying to perversely peep at the woman. This has to be foul play on the part of the woman and possibly someone else.

Honestly I don't think she has anything to do with it. How could she possibly force a man down a septic tank alone? She would've needed the help of at least one strong man. If she wanted him dead, it would've been easier and smarter to do so away from her home to avoid suspicions. Besides, she is a primary school teacher, that's not the kind of person with connections to cover herself up. Why should the Police protect a primary school teacher? It doesn't make any sense. It must've been someone with enough power to control the Police, to stop and investigation. Certainly not a young teacher. Most likely it has to do with the politics he was involved in. He probably had become problematic to some people and they decided it was time to get rid of him. So they chose to stage his dead close to someone he had some vague connection with to cover their tracks. It is not that unusual in corrupted contexts.

My theory is that he was pushed in there and left to die, so he put up his shoe in hopes that someone would find him in time. Also the whole toilet thing seems to be for his torture, since he would have gotten defecated on. The car also implies that he went to meet someone and got jumped. I keep wandering about the neatly folded shirt on his chest, though. Maybe he had nothing else to do before death so he just started folding his shirt. Or maybe he intended to put it over his face to keep it clean.

He was dying she didn't know and to make matters worse she was pissing and shitting on him as he was dying like damn. It's definitely homicide with all the things that were given. The shoe was there to make sure someone notices and make the death known to public. It's almost as if it's a warning to someone or more people that they are coming for them. If there are no more deaths after this, it's either they have killed the targets and hid the evidences, or the targets noticed and escaped the town beforehand.

It feels too unlikely to me that, even if Naoyuki was a perv, that he would've gone to such near (if not outright) impossible lengths to do so, especially since he should've at least had some sense to know that he could very well get stuck down there with how tight it was. In any case it is just a very plainly bizarre death! It would be nice if somehow the case was opened up again if any new evidence came up or anything, unlikely though it ever will be. It’s true that some people are so sick, they’ll go to unfathomable lengths to satisfy their urges, no matter how bizarre. But in this particular case, this seems rather suspect to me. I find it hard to believe that he himself curled into such a tight space without thinking for a second that he would have trouble getting out. Maybe he overestimated his ability to get out, but seriously? It’s all too suspicious in my book.

The guy who escaped prison probably had a genetic connective tissue disorder. I have Hypermobile Ehlers danlos syndrome, and my brother and I were amazing at hide and seek as kids because we could fit in super small places, no problem... My initial thought was that it was an accidental death of a peeping tom, but the way the body was found and the reconstruction effort to show how difficult it would be to get into the position leaves me wondering. That being said, if you wanted to dispose of a body it would be difficult to get it into such a position given the lack of diameter in the septic tank. Really makes ya think...

I think it would be difficult to put a dead person in such a narrow pipe. I think it would be easier for a living person to enter by changing their body posture. The scratches on Naoyuki's body, which appeared to have occurred when he entered the septic tank, showed signs of life. So at least he was alive when he entered the septic tank. I think if he had been forced into the pipe because someone had threatened him, the injuries would have been more noticeable. However, there were no obvious injuries on his body, such as any signs of being beaten. So I don't know what his purpose was, but given the circumstances, I think it's reasonable to assume that he entered the septic tank himself.

Maybe it was not malicious at all, for example the victim was drunk with some friends and they dared him to a stupid challenge and either forgot about him or something else happened that made them abandon him in the tank to die but that is a bit far-fetched

@@blazerker1640Regarding your former opinion, I don't think people would easily succumb to threats that don't involve physical violence and enter a place covered in excrement. Regarding your latter opinion, back then, teacher's dormitories were built in three or four rows. So, if there were several drunk people making a noise around the dormitory, I would think that someone would have heard them or witnessed them, but there is no testimony from nearby residents. Also, as you can see from the verification video, it is quite difficult to enter that septic tank. So I don't think you can get into the tank unless you have a clear will and tenacity to get into it. So even if a drunk tried to get into that pipe as a prank, I think he would give up halfway through. So, personally, I don't think your latter opinion is very likely. Another possibility is that he went into a septic tank due to hypothermia or some kind of drug that caused him to become delirious outdoors. However, if he was in a deranged state, I think he would not have been found with his whole body completely inside the tank, but with his body from the neck down sticking out of the pipe, as shown in the verification video. In any case, my personal opinion is that he went in himself for some reason.

Something happened at the river where his other shoe was found. And he was shoved deep into that hole on purpose. But certainly he was not trying to see the woman. The other shoe was blocking his view for one. And obviously even if the shoe had not been there it would still be far too dark for him to see. Someone killed him and dishonored his body on purpose. That is what happened.

@@Itstxr__ With the tank’s width, he wouldn’t be able to stretch his arms out but he could lift them up. But if he tried to fold his shirt with his elbows curled it could be possible. What’s weird is that he didn’t put it over his face, instead over his chest (near his neck, both his arms crossed to secure it there). In most of the reports I’ve translated, the shirt was “neatly folded,” I don’t speak Japanese so this is just speculation though since my translations are so bare bone. I don’t think he did that to cover his face but maybe he was suffering from symptoms of hypothermia or trying to see if removing his shirt would somehow make it easier to climb out of the tank. I mainly think he was trying to crawl out of either of the holes that the tank had (the toilet and the other lid, that’s why he was positioned so conveniently facing up to the toilet) and thought that removing his shirt would make it easier, especially if he was wearing a button-up. But this is pure speculation, Nao certainly wasn’t able to get in and out of that tank without any help.

Immediately I thought he was killed by someone. The location of death could be where the other shoe was found and the killer kept one of the shoes. When a person is already gone, their body is easier to push through tight spaces. I know that killers move the location of bodies a lot. Its possible the killer moved him to that place especially under water so that it seems like he wasnt in the river place. The killer knew how to open the toilet pipe. Killers sometimes move the body so that it gets discovered. Its possible the shoe wasnt even inside, and it was placed there.

Thinking more: folded clothes resemble motherly care, it could have been a woman, or two/more people working together. I wonder if the folded clothes was a killer signature. Another thing, was the shoe put there on purpose to be found, or to hide the body from being discovered. It would take more people to push down someone in that pipe, can't be just one killer. There has to be more evidence on the body, I'm wondering mostly about the lungs, it would help to know where he died. I feel bad for him, his case needs to be opened again and use the tech we have now.

~7:40 The pipe used for the "demonstration" was rounded, but in the footage of Naoyuki being pulled out, it looked like a square pipe/chamber. While the round one can be 36cm everywhere, in the square, only side to side is 36, but corner to corner he might have had 2~3cm extra.

It's crazy to me that this story has been told as a "pervert who died perverting" when there is SO MUCH to consider here. Even if he was a pervert, going to THAT extreme? And with how, near impossible, it is to go into that pipe alone, and the shoe above his face with the other miles away. It's just too strange

Yeah... I am not sure even the perviest of pervs would go this far. I know people are crazy, but I mean... There are ways to perv on women peeing without bathing in freezing cold sewage. Not condoning, just saying. Also, Japanese folks are known for valuing cleanliness. I can't see one willingly doing this.

It is natural for cement pipes to expand in the heat and contract in the cold. Thermal Expansion and Contraction. Therefore, if it was hella freezing 🥶 that makes it even harder and smaller than the demonstration of the dude going for it!

I find this case very strange. If his shows were in two different places, was he being chased or dragged by someone. Also the fact that he was in a fetal position in the tank is strange too, how would you get in that position in such a small space

Here's a couple of scenarios I can see happening if he is innocent. He lost something down the toilet, that was important enough to go through the trouble of going down into the septic tank to try and retrieve it, and misjudged the space and capability of twisting or turning around once he was down inside the septic tank, causing him to get stuck as he didn't have the leverage or upper body strength to push himself reverse out of the septic tank. He was killed somehow, without knowing his dating history, or the interactions he had with the women in that area, maybe he had done something that made one of them so jealous that they used poison to kill him, then dumped him into the septic tank hoping he wouldn't be found in a while. Or, perhaps the one to find him was even the killer, and that's why she saw the shoe, even though it would have been more likely to see the head the way he was positioned.

I did notice another comment posing a very important question. If the teacher *opened* the septic tank lid, how did the guy close the lid behind him? Or did someone see the open lid, but somehow not the guy inside when they went over to close it? Or, more likely, someone closed it behind him.

Who drops something in a septic tank which was placed so high above the ground? Even if he dropped something you don't just go inside it he could have had a handlebar or something or he could easily get help from the locals since he was so well known

The peeping theory doesn't really make sense either though. This was the teacher's private toilet and she had gone home for a few days. What would have been the point of peeping in a toilet of someone who was going to be gone for several days? He would have known he was doing to have to be in there a while before she was going to be back. He didn't have his car parked properly for that as well. That also doesn't explain why his shoes were in two separate places, which would have been not possable for him to do himself. Considering the weather it just seems not likely a logical explaination, it is absurd.

From what I know, you HAVE to check squaring toilets bc there might be creatures in there that can bite and harm you like snakes and even larger animals like the kimono dragon - which is what my dad had in the home he was raised in, just large ass lizards in poop lol

I’ve heard this story a couple times from another channel and it’s always made me squirm with the claustrophobia of it all. I almost hope the guy was dead before someone shoved him inside (if it was a homicide) bc the thought of him suffocating like that is just…not fun to think about.

He was definitely put there, this case is too suspicious. How would he be able to close the toilet if he’s already inside? How was his shirt so neatly folded? Maybe someone close to him had him meet up at that bathroom and they did that to him. The friends suicide is suspicious too, but maybe they were close and he felt like there was no hope. I’m not sure but I think we can all agree this is too strange for this to be an accident….

This remind me of a manga story ... I guess it's from Junji Ito... But it's a pipe through the sink then bathroom. Anyways.... This is just a case that should have been investigated further, but based from the theories, since he's also known in the area, there might be a possibility that they hide the truth or hide more evidences and witnesses. It's so bizarre and tickle curious brains.

I've known about this case for years, and it always infuriated me that they did no follow-up work on the female that found the body. Nothing she said made any sense. That man was forced into that tank, and I wholeheartedly believe that woman had something to do with it.

I guess my most immediate thought here - and perhaps they ruled it out already and it just wasn’t mentioned - but perhaps the man was drunk? If he was in there for two days before he died, so that would be enough time for the traces of alcohol to be out of his blood. Maybe it was out of a dumb peeping idea; maybe it was out of being cold; maybe it was out of being tired. Regardless of reason, without typical inhibitions to remind him how stupid an idea it was, he decided to crawl right in, only to realize the consequences of what would be his final actions as he became sober. It would also make the missing shoe make more sense, the minimal sign of struggle, etc. And frankly, if I was just caught at the back end of a gritty and possibly politically grubby election about the same topic of discussion that led to my friend’s suicide, yeah no, I could see myself getting drunk in response. Meanwhile, while I don’t think it rules out the teacher as a suspect in any potential foul play, I will say at least that when you’re a teacher, you watch for weird ass things and that leads you looking into weird places. Depending on the age of the students she could be more than aware that a few like to throw trinkets down the toilet. Especially in a rural school where she clearly knew where the septic tank is and how to access it, I wonder if she frequently had to fish out a few things to keep the system running smoothly. (Also, given the verbiage given, I wonder if she actively saw and acknowledged the object to be an adult shoe, or if she saw the slight glint of something down there, was like “damnit what not” and went to investigate).

It's unfortunate that this was ruled as accidental when the evidence clearly points towards foul play. Just because they lacked evidence to actually commit to investigating possible culprits or motives doesn't change the fact that there was plenty of evidence to rule out accidental death. Either the story was silenced or dismissed to not waste resources.

There are squat toilets here in India (i have never used it in my life, it looks not too comfortable) but no-one can enter the drain or septic. It’s not built that way.

I think someone ended him and stuffed him there. Also, if the shirt was folded, it likely means the person knew him and felt a bit of regret. Also did they ever check his car for a change of clothes cause if he was gonna camp a restroom, he would leave a smell after getting out

My only thing is- did he have broken bones? How could he have been shoved in without the perpetrator breaking his bones? Also, I think it’s possible the woman’s boyfriend could’ve done it, this is just guesswork on my part but it could’ve been a fit of jealousy

They refused to look into it more because of a lack of evidence that they clearly didn't look for to begin with 🤦🏻♀️ My understanding is that this kind of refusal to correct mistakes is a big part of how the conviction rate got so high - can't find proof they messed up if they refuse to try. A lot of innocent people are convicted because of this. Not that that doesn't happen elsewhere, just that it has become such a common thing (again, from my limited understanding).

The reason why Japan's conviction rate is so high is because Japanese prosecutors only prosecute cases in which they are confident that a conviction will be obtained at trial. Therefore, the conviction rate will inevitably increase. Also, some overseas people living in Japan are obsessed with the idea that if they are arrested in Japan, they will be 100% guilty, but that is wrong. In reality, only around 35% of people arrested in Japan are prosecuted. The remaining 65% of the cases will not be prosecuted. Another reason is that the method of calculating the conviction rate in Japan and overseas is different. Japan's calculation method inevitably results in a higher conviction rate than in countries such as the United States. Some experts say that if the same calculation method is used, the conviction rates in Japan and the United States are practically the same.
