Aloha! Hey so I'm back with a brand new slight adventure. I took a quick trip to Molokai(Moloka'i to be exact). Believe it or not, all my life, a little over 30 years, I've never been to Molokai. It's always been a mystery to me. Out of nowhere I said to myself "I'm not going to wonder anymore" So I got on a plane and took a two day trip to Molokai. I have to say it was a trip well taken. So come along with me as I get to see Molokai for the first time in my life. Those who've been to or are from Molokai I hope this video sparks joyful memory for you guys, and those who've never been here, lets have some fun on our exploration.

We spend 10 days on Molokai some 15 years ago. My wife and I are devoted to children. During our planning for this trip we contacted the local primary school and asked what we could bring that they were in need of. We were told that the youngsters like to draw. We brought art supplies, paints, crayons etc. When we arrived we met with the teachers who graciously accepted. Maybe 6 months passed after we returned to the Mainland, we received in the mail many wonderful works of art from the children. We were and still are very grateful for having the chance to meet and share with the people of Molokai.

My wife and I purchased a condo at Ke Nani Kai two years ago this March. We had rented someone else's condo for a month before deciding to buy one at KNK. A year prior to that we had rented a condo at the Wave Crest for five days on our first trip to Molokai. Your video is excellent. Deb and I were on Molokai a total of 3 or 4 times in 2017 due to the death of her mother. (Our home up to today is in Springville, Utah. That said, our home is on the market to sell, as we've decided we want to live full-time on Molokai. We're buying a house there as the condo doesn't have enough space for two people and all of our things, so we decided to buy a house.) Late this month or early in March, we'll be moving everything of ours to Molokai. Our love for the Island of Molokai and its exceptional people cannot be overstated. I'll be 71 years old in March. I twice lived on Oahu (for a little under 3 years total) in my youth. I was eleven and living on Oahu when Hawaii became the 50th state in 1959. I know of no better place in the world than the Hawaiian Islands. We're all one big Ohana. Aloha & Mahalo from Andy & Debbie McKane.

I hope that the pristine, natural state of Molokai is not altered- that it doesn't become a tourist trap like some of the other islands.

Ohhh Yeahhh Brahdah...., Molokai is one of my favorite islands. The Treats there are very authentic since the Kama'Ainas use mainly natural produces as their ingredients. My favorite ice-cream oh yeah is the Kulolo. Mahalo Nui for sharing Brah!

St Damien gave his services to patients from all over the islands and world and they were banned to Kalaupapa not the whole Molokai, just thought I put my input since I was born and raised on Molokai and also works down in kalaupapa with the remaining patients . Nanahoa was accused of cheating by his wife Kawahuna. He turned into stone which is now know as Ka Ule o Nanahoa (phallic rock). There is also another trail below that you can follow but has deteriorated where his wife was also turned into stone which looks like a ladies business. Hope you enjoyed Molokai. Aloha!

I was there last November. I really liked that 3 mile beach though. I went just before dawn. It was great. I only wish I had gone down the right (north) to where the beach curves to the west (out into the ocean). Whereas most of the beach is far too dangerous to swim or get in the water, I was told you could get in if you stay right there where it curves out into the ocean. But going out too far would probably get you drowned. Picturesque, but dangerous water.

Yeah I was in the center. I was going to swim but just the way the water was moving and no sight of reef anywhere, I was pretty sure I would be swept far out so I only got my feet wet.

Papohaku Beach has dangerous currents. Talented musician Randy California drowned there. It's a beautiful beach, but others on Molokai are safer.

Moloka'i (Mo low ka - eee) Like the song bradda.. Moloka'i is wayyy more interesting than Fthr. Damien. What about the abundant kahuna of various backgrounds. What about the long history of civilization there? Halawa??
@HawaiianOnTheMove
@HawaiianOnTheMove 5 жыл бұрын
Toni Sanoe Dela Cruz I wasn’t there for a long period to film everything of Mo Low ka-ee, only there two days one night. Also, according to a Kamehameha Schools hawaiian language video I watched, pronunciations of hawaiian words for things, names, places etc. can vary among the hawaiian community. Some Hawaiians will pronounce wai with a “w” sound and some will pronounce it with a “v” sound. However you say it is okay as long as your audience understands. The teacher stated when in Hau’ula say it like how the people in Hau’ula do, when in Kona say it like how the people in Kona do. I was in “Molokai” and I heard the “Molokai” people say it both ways. I’ll say it the way I was raised.
