I’ve owned a mazda 2 with retrofit auto cruise and gps navigation. Drove it for 7 years before I sold it. I had to say I missed the car. It served me well over the years. The only thing if you (2nd hand buyers) need to be aware of; the digital meter on the centre might have an issue. At least it happened to mine. 6th years of owning, 75 become 15. I have a Mazda 2 DJ model 2014 6 speed auto with the optional higher compression 81KW engine. I live in Brisbane Qld Australia. It has always been a very good car, with the only real issue being that rediculous stop/start system. That system costs me a new starter motor at 60,000 and I have now started on my third battery at 76.000. Mazda here wanted $1,400 AUD for the new starter motor, but I got one from another service shop for $600 fitted. The car does have a strange noise in the steering and nobody can find out what it is .. even though two new struts have been fitted. I simply don't bother about it any more !!! The noise sounds like a sticky rubber washer. One thing why did you worry about that boot size on your trip? ... all you needed to do was put the seats down and then you have a gigantic space for all your luggage. I have carried all kinds of large objects in the back of my Mazda 2. Even a 58 inch TV in its new box. But now Mazdas are very expensive with all the electronic so called safety gear they have put in. I don't need a system to stop me running into the rear of the car in front of me or running off the left side of the road etc??? After driving for about 63 years, I most certainly don't want a system to do my reverse parking for me ??? These systems should be optional so people can get a cheaper car without them.

If space is not your concern, then the Mazda 2 is a great option! Few things to note: 1) I average between 6L to 7.5L per 100 km depending on my driving style/use 2) Maintenance and replacement parts are 15 - 30% more than equivalent Japanese cars. Per service is about RM 350 (I use fully synthetic) 3) Try to find one with full service record and for 2015 cars check for suspension leaks and steering rack knocking noise. Hope this helps! 😃

Great user sharing from a journalist! Back to the year 2015, there are 3 choices of cars in my list below RM100k, which is Mazda 1.5 SkyActiv HB, Peugeot 1.6 VTi and Ford Fiesta 1.0 EcoBoost. I have a hard time to consider their safety features, build quality, exterior/interior, handling and engine performance for my daily travel between work and hometown. In final, I had picked Ford Fiesta 1.0 EB, because of its overall performance satisfied me more compared the others. I love the Mazda 2 as well, but it's front/rear lamp didn't take my heart as what provided in Thailand spec and it's lightweight makes me felt unconfident when taking the tight corner or high speed cruising on highways. Most importantly, my cousin had bought a Mazda 2 Sedan at the same time and, the speciality made my decision firm at that time. I am still using Ron 97 since Day 1 as well and keeping my full maintenance service record with SDAC, as what Adrian did with Bernaz for better satisfaction and confidence level. Service and wear-and-tear cost almost the same. No major service for the parts' failure (besides accident). I had claimed for a new engine water pump in the year 2016 and replaced a battery (RM648.65 including labour fee) in the year 2018.

Hey there! Do you think getting a used 2011 mazda 6 would be a good first car option as opposed to a brand new saga(both are in the same price range)?
@Yddp33074 жыл бұрын
Hey, to be honest i think if you have the budget around 40k, you shouldnt get the mazda. Yes it's quite reliable but the running cost is definitely way higher. Dont forget fuel consumption will be higher, wear and tear parts like tyres will need much higher cost compared to the saga. In finance terms, a 2nd car will bear high interest rates on the loan as well.

As @@Yddp3307 mentioned, there are alot of costs involved when considering a used Mazda6. If budget is a big concern, we'd still recommend to go with the Saga that's cheaper to maintain and comes with a 5-Years warranty 😃

major service pretty on par with Perodua, serviced my Myvi, major service. cost is RM600+, however that major service changed alot of components such as spark plugs etc. but of course thats few years apart, not sure the Mazda service costs now

But the 5w40 shell ultra, is it really worth it? I mean liqui moly special tec aa cost less than that and the shell helix is not making any such improvement to the car...

Shell Helix is the official oil used by Bermaz Motor and so far so good 😃👍🏻

Great choice Adrian. But I wondered how it would compared to Fiesta, the hatch that has been praised for its highly capable dynamic in Europe. Sadly, facelifted Mazda 2 has increased in price, way too overpriced no matter how you look at it. RM100k for a small B segment hatch and still 2 airbags is simply unacceptable in 2020 :'(

Very unfortunate due to the tax structure in Malaysia and the fact that the Mazda2 has gone up in price in general

good review bro of Mazda 2! I'm considering of having 2017 Mazda 2 i/o a new Proton Persona Premium, which both car will cost me 55-57k worth. What do u think Adrian?
@WapCar4 жыл бұрын
That sound's awesome! Few things to note - the maintenance cost for Mazda 2 is going to be much more expensive than a Persona (about 20 - 30% more). Spare parts are also pricier such as tyres, wear and tear parts. Also the Mazda 2 is much smaller than the Persona in terms of rear legroom and boot space. But of course the Mazda 2 is much more fun to drive and has a more premium interior. 😃

Buy mazda 2 if you only carry 2 people and no bigger than L size la.. the space is super tight imo

@@jijisuka2708 Yes, the rear seats are super cramp and the boot space is small

WapCar what about sedan version? Is the boot space sufficient? I’m considering between new bezza adv and 2nd hand mazda 2 sedan I know it’s not comparable but they’re in the same price range and have similar fuel consumption And i think the rear space of mazda 2 is at least spacious and more confortable than the new bezza 2020 And I’m also concerned about the maintenance fee, even though the mazda 2 sedan second hand price is attractive but since bezza is using toyota NR engine, sounds like it has long lasting potential but not sure about mazda’s engine
