If a cat really needs a bath--which should be a rarity, and I do not recommend it unless they have diarrhea or have rolled in the mud, and cannot clean themselves up enough--it helps to put them in a cat walking harness, so you have something to hold on to while they struggle. Do it in the bathtub, not a small basin. And make sure the water is pleasantly warm. Have a warm towel ready and dry her immediately, so she doesn't get chilled when you take her out of the water.

I had my cat for 17 years and only gave him one bath, just weeks before I lost him to diabetes he started peeing in his bed, I gave him a bath and he caught pneumonia, dogs are different, they get really dirty and can't clean themselves.

When my kitty was a few months old, she always joined me every time I had a bath. For some reason, she loved it. Now, almost aged 13, she is no longer curious about water, but stillyoung and cheeky at heart❤

A tub full of warm water, a larger container in the tub (must be taller than the level of your water) with warm clean water for rinsing - depending on ur cat, you'll figure it out, a weight in the bottom so cat doesn't kick it over. A firm hand around kitty to get cat in the tub - make sure edges of tub are clear of 10 bottles of shampoo, bubble bath, toys, face clothes, etc. MUST be clear of stuff your cat can grab ahold of.....pull your shower curtain back out of the way so that wayward paws & nails can't pull them over too. A firm but gentle hand. Don't dump your cat in their and shock the beans out of them. You need to make this into a reasonably pleasant experience. No aromatherapy or smelly stuff, cat doesn't care & they have much more sensitive noses than us - and dogs above them. Keep all your family members out of this mission, no laughing, crying, photo taking, etc - best that no one is in the house!!! Once kitty has had a washing - don't scrub them, yah they're dirty but let's get them used to the whole procedure. No rough scrub brushes, sharp objects or anything to hurt the cat or you. A squirt of shampoo - you're not washing the car or a truck, so let's go easy on washing the cat - do make sure feet and bum get a bit of a washing but let's not traumatize the cat so you never see him/her for a week - NOWS TIME TO PULL THE PLUG ON THE TUB * but tilt the plug off to one side so the water doesn't make that loud - shooooop sound. Hey don't forget - to a cat the escaping water is going to be amplified - sort of like going to a concert in your neighbourhood musical venue. Once you've emptied the tub rinse kitty the clean warm water from that tall container you put to far side of tub when we started this. You had no reason to use that container of water until now, rinse until you don't see any soap suds or residue, good job! Get your nice fluffy towel & wrap up kitty - he/she won't want to stay long but hold on as long as you can - but no need to squeeze the poop out of your cat. A nice warm hug is all they need & NO don't put your face up to theirs, no time for baby talk & if you haven't kept the paws INSIDE the towel you could have a big five finger surprise come your way. We'll, here we are. If you figure kitty is MOSTLY dry let them go. Yes, they're going to run to most convenient hiding place, luck and straighten out their fur. Don't recapture, cajole, laugh or make noises. Make sure all the cat paraphernalia, bowls of water food and treats were already set up for them. This is home,no time to barter....they might do a little shivering after the tubby - so do we; or a little checking everything is in same place it started before the tubby - ta-da! You are a bonna fide cat (and dog) shampooer & can now set up your own business. Don't forget, this is to get basic dirt and stuff off them not give them a psychological complex about having a bath. After we figured out how to keep the tub the least traumatizing & distracting experience it gets easier. Gentle and kind - you aren't there to punish them and yes it is really a single handed experience - maybes 'hand-off' person once you get the hang of things. Good luck, it gets easier as time goes on. Gentle and kind, it's not a punishment!

Nah, in Simon's Cat they're just being goofy cats with just a different frame of mind and goal than humans.

Totally agree and doesn't matter how many nice smelling soaps and gels (don't use perfumed products on cats, their sense of smell is stronger than ours) I have it's never the 'experience'' people rave about....and only do it because I have to. Yes, I've made my shower area as nice an experience as I can but it's just not 'a happening place's for me. Water on, shave or treatment what needs special attention, rinse, get the heck outta Dodge, dry off and get into other clothes,/jammies/housecoat/ sweats or what-have--you. Check. Done.
