It's been a "tale of 2 seasons" for Cade Cunningham, who's only scratching the surface of what he can be as an offensive superstar.

Three very important things to help contextualize Cade. 1. He has only played 126 games. 2. Cutting Killian and starting Ivey made Cade's job a lot easier. 3. A year off and very little experience means he had to get his legs back under him. This dude is a monster and his stats next year, assuming health, are going to be mind blowing. Duren and Ivey developing with him two, it is a slow rebuild but we have a very strong young core.

Usually when i watch live, i search good players for their name. During pistom vs my team. I had to search 2 names. Cade and also killian. I have never seen an nba playrr so bad like killian that was so unbelieveably bad to the extend i have to search up on him

All that happened is they started Ivey. Nothing else. Literally, give a naturally great playmaker like Cade even just 1 good shooter and they'll be able to space the floor off that alone.

He was also shaking off rust after not having played for nearly a year. The Ivey lineup was the immediate factor, but I think Cunningham would have had a slow start to the season regardless.

There was *A LOT* else. First and foremost they got Bogdanovic back around the same time (game 20) and the offense itself changed dramatically at that point. Early on he ran PnR into a set defense, often with both Ausar and Killian on the weakside so defenses could easily help. In December they were using Spain and by February it was a fully modern offense with multiple actions. Specifically the third Washington game Cade came back and the offense went back to Cade ball. They won without him the next day against OKC and since then Monty hasn't gone back to that Houston Harden style offense. Livers has been off the team the last 20 games which obviously helps a ton And Isaiah Stewart missed 20 games since Christmas which also made Cade's life easier. Having a true wing (Knox then Fontecchio) makes such a big difference. And finally Cade was cold/rusty to start the season and started to get a rhythm in December. Plus his finishing process is better -- he's taking smarter shots vs trying to challenge better athletes at the rim -- and the foul rate is night and day from where it was the first 20 games. Jaden obviously was a big piece -- he is the only other guy defenses have to really respect -- but far from the only change.

It helps when they finally realized to stop giving minutes to Killian and Livers who were blackholes offensively. Ivey has been solid hitting threes (except lately), and they are finally forming some chemistry which is something that they were really struggling with initially. Fontecchio has been a more two-way version of Bojan which has also helped. Stew missed a bunch of time this year too. Monty basically killed our season by wanting Killian to date his daughter. When they were on that long losing streak, you can definitely tell it was affecting them psychologically. Having won really got the monkey off their backs and they are more or less focusing on just building some chemistry now. I've been really high on Sasser too, he's kinda the perfect backup PG. If his defense gets better, he may be one of the best backup PG's in the league imo. He's incredibly poised and makes smart plays, which as a rookie is really impressive. One thing I would like to see Cade improve on is his aggressiveness, a majority of the time he has no dawg or killer instinct. He really needs it imo before we write him into top PG conversations.

I really like cade cunningham as my favorite player to play at the PG position Very good size for a 6'6 point guard i know that he is young he is already 22 years old and he will turn 23 next season and with his length and size cunningham can do basically anything a team need the big issue in his career and it's a major weakness is his 3 point shot and his turnover ratio he has to fix both of these issues if he is able to he will be a very good player for a long time. he needs to be more picky with his passes and his 3 point shooting.

Honestly Jaden Ivey doesn’t really make sense next to him, the idea of having a jumbo pg is to have size advantages but teams put a wing on Cade a lot and allow the guard to slide to Ivey taking advantage away from Cade. Not to mention Cade and Ivey’s minutes together aren’t nearly as good as there minutes apart. Shaedon Sharpe or Benedict Mathurin would have fit better as down hill physical and athletic threats who can also take advantage of guards. Cade has his own set of weaknesses but he manages to hit that tough middy pretty consistently, sometimes it feels like he’s forced to take it because he is unable to create anything else consistently, he’s only 56.8% in the restricted area and only 42.2% in the paint (non RA) on the season. Cade is the type of guard who would thrive with a 3pt shooting center, watching and statistically you can see he has a hard time scoring past opposing teams bigs and settles for that middy a lot more than he should. He’s either going to have to get better at pullup 3s or find a pick n popper at the 5 who will space the floor for him

Woah no way! Being on a better team is easier? That's crazy! Pistons are very young. They are getting better and thank God they traded the elderly to New York. Cade hasn't changed much he's always been good. At the beginning of the season he was getting hammered and swarmed. Ivey is getting better at shooting, Duren is getting stronger and fontecchio has helped space too. Cade is a really good playmaker and the better the team gets the easier it's going to get.

Watched the majority of pistons game the past 3 years and this is the first season I’d say cades been healthy. I was seeing things this year that looked far worse the past two or he just didn’t do. I love your points on his 3 ball. His arc has came back. It was very flat the past two years and I’m assuming it was from his leg injury. Once the pistons get a better roster around him we’ll see luka lite performances. I think his turnovers will get under control with other ball handlers around him and he can conserve a little stamina. He’s such a fucking dog and you can see he doesn’t want to lose. I think detroit with Cade, JD we have a great two piece punch for now.

Pistons fan here, it's truly a shame that if things don't change in the front office or coaching this off-season that these young guys will have years wasted of their career on this team. There's tons of flaws with this roster and way too much to discuss with what made this season such a disaster. People who have really paid attention to Detroit this season know that the real issue is the front office who constructed this horrible roster and the coaching who has done everything in their power to make things 10x worse than they would be otherwise. This disaster is not on the players who despite all of them having flaws (which are compounded by the coaching), have all still shown out to be promising prospects. Cade looks like he could be a legit secondary star on a playoff team (in a jaylen brown type role), as much as I like his game no team will ever win a playoff game with him in a heliocentric role. He reminds me of Michigan Native Devin booker before ironically, Monty came in to make those suns a real NBA team. Ivey's expanded his game onto the ridiculous athleticism he was advertised with coming into the league, which was hidden by Killian Hayes and now he is often stuck in the corner. Duren's major leap offensively this year has been overshadowed by his defensive regressions, I hope he will turn it around but he needs 1 of ausar or stew to help him on that end and having either there destroys the offense. Ausar is one of the most insane defensive players I've ever seen as a rookie and I sincerely hope he can put together an average jumper, him falling out of the league would be a tragedy. Isaiah Stewart is also a sneaky good role player and I'm rather excited about Quinten Grimes. There's tons to be hopeful and worried about with any of these guys, I don't think I can recall any rebuilding situation quite like it where the franchise and coaches completely fail the players they brought in. Maybe the post jordan bulls? Sorry for all the rambling, great video as usual.

I’m a piston fan so I’ll say what I’ve been witnessing, every teams mission when facing the pistons is to shut down Cade because they know his teammates aren’t a threat so the whole plan is we’re not gonna let him beat us we’re gonna making his teammates 2 of whom are sophomores and 1 is a rookie who’s not skilled offensively, I would like to see a scoring threat next to Cade and that’s when we can fully evaluate him so that means he wouldn’t be doubled on every play and we’ll see who Cade Cunningham really is.

The problem is the ownership and front office. Our front office has been absolutely terrible the past 15 years. And that all falls on the ownership. Tom gores is by far the worst owner of any sports organization in the world. Dude has only hired bums to run our franchise he’s the most incompetent owner in all of sports. There’s also a ton of nepotism in this trash organization. Arm tellem is the vice chairman of the pistons and his son Eric tellem who has literally no experience working in a sports organization is the pistons senior director of player personnel. Our gm troy weaver hired his own son as a strategy analyst. Again no experience working within a sports organization whatsoever. The roster isn’t even that bad it’s 1000% all on the front office and ownership. SELL THE FUCKIN TEAM

5:43 love Cade, and good finish. But pass the ball man 😂 you have 4 guys on you. He needs to get that Luka/Bron playmaker instinct, he has it some games but not most of the time

Cade Cunningham ain’t no Luka or Magic. He can hoop and all that. His versatility, scoring ability, and court vision make him a promising star in the league. His team isn’t good at all this season because they lack winning mentality.🏀🏀🏀🏀🏀
