I can’t imagine, even on a terrible day, seeing a paper airplane drop serendipitously at my feet and not smiling/looking around for the sender. Y’all, I did not expect so much intensity. I’m leaving this last reply to let you know that I’m proud of myself for writing my comment because it means I’m progressing in my healing journey. I’m an Army vet with severe PTSD/MST. Three years ago, I wouldn’t have responded to this short like I did now. I would have ignored the small things because I was drowning in pain, trauma, self-blame, shame and worthlessness. A few years ago, I didn’t expect to survive the year. I was broken mentally and physically and didn’t see a way forward. I still have tough days, but I use my tools and skills to push through, and I’m finally beginning to find joy in the small things again. My comment is harmless. I wrote it from a healing, gentle place. I was simply trying to demonstrate my experience and moment of joy after severe hardship and trauma. Please don’t take it so seriously. We’re all humans here.

I threw a paper airplane three towns away once. Off a 160’ tower at the oil refinery where I worked. It hit the exhaust of the furnace stack and shot up hundreds of feet. Then the river winds just took that puppy up the Delaware River, parallel with 95 and running that way north. We watched it for over an hour. Toward the end it was just a random glitter of light from the sun, showing its position and strength. I think about that a few times a year. Was awesome!

It’s obviously fake. Why doesn’t the air plane not have a shadow when people have shadows. How did it land flat when there is a lip on the bottom. How did the paper airplane know when to slow down to go thru harder areas. How did it keep its steam after slowing down. The person walking didn’t even acknowledge it as it flew by him. Which it went, left, right, left, right and somehow gained its speed back. If it’s that hug you would show your paper airplane on camera before throwing it and freaking out when the person just walks by it. Paper airplane’s don’t slow down to avoid things.
