Mark has one of the “quietest” left hands I’ve ever seen. Literally no wasted movement, his hand barely moves when pulling out all sorts of crazy licks and chord voicings. Sounds amazing.

I hope you realise how lucky you are to have an amazing music shop like that near you! Local music shops are an endangered species here in the UK, so treasure what you've got and support them by buying there.

That es175 is the sound of American music, the rockabilly tone, the country tone, the jazz tone, and the 70s funk tone all in one beautiful guitar Also in my opinion there isn't anything better than a fender music master guitar with the mustang scale .

I have a 1959 ES-175-D with the original '59 PAF humbuckers which were authenticated by Gibson about 20 years ago. (pictured in my avatar) I am the second owner and got it in 1963. The finish on the guitar is immaculate; no cracking, checking or hazing and after all these years, I haven't had to even adjust the truss rod. All parts are original except for the plastic on the tuners which disintegrated over the years and had to be replaced. I saved the plastic pieces and machine heads and may send them to Dan Erlewine to have them reproduced. ( I saw him do that in one of his videos) This one is my holy grail and will go to the grave with me.

Nothing like the sound of a well built jazz box. The sweetness and resonace is so beautiful. That ES 175 was nice, but they get even better with 5 figure price tags to match, brand new and worth it. It is a whole different world. Also Mark is seriously good, so versatile and with enviable technique.

That Super Bass with the 4x15 is exactly the thing I absolutely don’t need cause not enough space and too loud.. but I’d definitely buy it. You know, just for fun 😂.

Big House is, with out a doubt, my "if I hit the lottery" store. They have so much amazing stuff in there (like that Lemmy Marshall Bass stack), but it's definitely not a 'run in and grab a new guitar' store. The staff in there is top notch as well and very personable. When Onorato had both my G&L's in for service, I came VERY close to pulling the trigger on an early 90s G&L bass in there. The new space they're in now is SO much better than their old space over in Decatur. It also makes it very easy to hit up them, the ATL Guitar Center, and Atlanta Discount in one trip.

I wish that I could hear this high quality level of guitar noodling when I walk in to other guitar stores! Some great playing and technique on display in this video from all players!

ES 175 with p90s is my favorite guitar. Ever since I've heard old Jim Hall records.

100W Super Bass is the greatest Marshall amp ever made according to Tom Bukovac. It's the one Eric Johnson uses, and Eddie's "Brown Sound" amp.

Saw video of Mark in Fearless Flyers. He just makes you want to go buy a baritone guitar. Rhett, you can definitely see how diverse your playing experiences have been over the last five years or so. There’s an ease in your playing that wasn’t there before. That’s not a mediocre player commenting above my pay grade, just a music listener and viewer who notices things.

My brother has a vintage ES-175, and it is amazing to say the least. It's all original, made in 1964, and in great shape. It has the wooden bridge, and split inlays just like the one in the video. It has a single patent sticker humbucker, but it's not at the bridge position, it's at the neck but lower than where a neck pickup is usually placed. It's the only Gibson model I've ever seen like that. (Though I wouldn't be surprised to find out there's more) Sounds great and has the best neck I've ever played, nice and thin. Back when I was a beginner, I wasn't supposed to touch it. Of course, that forbidden fruit made it so much more tempting. That was the guitar I was using at the time when things started to come together for me as a guitarist. When thing started to gel, become second nature, and I realized this was something that I can get good at. Dare I say, I might even have a talent for. That was when I fell in love with the guitar. So, that ES-175, and all ES-175s actually, will always have a special place in my heart.

My dad passed away and left me a beautiful blonde '56 175 . That thing will really howl with those p90s!

amazing condition for a 56! my friend loaned me his late 60s 175 for a few years and it was incredible. soon after returning it he had his place broken into and it was stolen.

I wholeheartedly agree on your text about and take on Mark Letterie in the intro - he's the _hottest_ pro player of our time for me as well, definitely already some sort of living legend, versed in many styles, incredible fluency and impeccable time, clarity and cleanness of tone I find second to none and a consummate, 100% _musical_ musician through and through! Definitely a "hero" on the instrument for me as well as he impressively demonstrates with his jazzy riffing here on the ES-175. Great video and very cool of you to have taken him prior to the concert! Awesome stuff!

175 has always been at the top of the list , Gretsch Falcons and Country Gentleman , hummingbirds , and different Les Paul's , and all-time favorite is 335.

Couple years ago, I found a heavily modified 58 es-125. The body, paint, p90, and the pickguard were original and practically nothing else. The bridge pickup is a patent number from the 60s, it has a bigsby, grover tuners were added, a toggle switch was added, and 2 knobs were added for the bridge pickup. It does that out of phase thing as well, it is a stellar blues guitar.

Love the sound of those old amps. So organic.

I have inherited my dad’s 1957 ES 175. The first year Gibson used PAFs. It has a single PAF in the neck. It’s incredible. Would LOVE to play an earlier one like that with a pair of p90s! Great episode. Love Mark Lettiri!!

I played a 1954 es 295 like that in goldtop, just uncredible , the p90s sound really sharp.

Hello Rhett, I think it's the first time I write to you, :) I am French Québécois, so My 'Englishe' is not that secure! :) ) I totally understand your falling in love with the 175! Mine is a 1958, or '63, nobody's sure' it could even be a '68... with PAF pick-ups, 'Z' shaped string holder and the finish on the body is a bit crackled and almost non existant on the neck ! Same sunburst as the one you show on the VDO. Just beautiful! It has been very well played and meticously maintained, but long time ago, more than 40 years in fact, I decided that she would grow old with me, I'll be 70 next july, and we both, the guitar and me, have a nice, well played patina! :) She's my lady, and I whish you can go for this one. Yes they come at a price, and they need a bit more TLC than a Les Paul or a Tele/Strat, but the satisfaction we get from these instrument is so full, so inspiring.... worth every penny! I have a 1962 original 175t with a 1964 p90..and I also have the original lipstick pickup and pick guard. And the case is in pristine condition.. Bought at auction and they didn't have any idea what they had..Great tone
