Mcdoubles back again with a brand new video and today we finally try the brand new GROVE RANGER legendary worldforged enchant that came out with chapter 2! This enchant aims to give you the "ranged nature healer" fantasy that you rarely see manifest itself in MMORPG's.
This is basically Druid x Hunter, but it comes with a twist - Ascension was possibly on some herbs of their own when they designed it. This means we have to try 10x as hard to get it to work and so throughout this video we go from 1-60, through mythics, raiding BWL, and back into mythics again in an attempt to test the build, make it work, and show the progress along the way!
In my discord I posted two theoretical builds; one that is similar to the one we ended this video with and one that is an agility version.

IMO they chould've made it so Grove Ranger transforms your shot abilities into different healing injection shots that can target allies, and do low damage but apply debuffs when used on enemies, and that'd be another *cheff's kiss* LRE

I know for a fact that a base wotlk Core dosent support Hunter shots healing players. Its code simply dosent support it on a deep level. I think thats why ascension went with this solution. But it would be cool if they gave it time and made it work 👌

@@kimserne A really simple work around is create a new spell that is instant with whatever cooldown the hunter shot has, that uses the animation of that hunter shot, but heals instead. Give it the requirement of using a bow. Maybe make it so that it uses no ammunition (maybe the arrows are pure magic) or add an ammunition cost. It's outside the box and more work than what they did but significantly more plausible than them reworking the WotLK core to work with hunter shots healing.

I think you missed the detail that you get Grove Ranger stacks from all hunter shots. The build I used focused more on using aimed shot and steady shot to build stacks and constantly use instant-cast healing touch. As you saw, the two new spells are actually a joke, but even worse the Blooming shot without the Nature's Power proc costs insane mana. About as much as wild growth for a fraction of the healing. However, this build ultimately has the issue that all your healing comes from Healing Touch, but there is only 1 epic RE that will buff that healing in the form of Garden of Growth. I ended up not using this re because the extra healing was not worth the effort of having to track/maintain living seeds across the party. So I just put on some hunter REs for extra damage, but even that felt bad because stacking full spirit for healing power provides nothing Ranged AP. Maybe if spirit-agi gear existed this would work, but currently the dps is as bad as the hps. I managed to do some +4/5s without issue once I fully specc'd into the Marksman-but-with-healing-touch build, but I got bored of it quickly and have moved on. I personally hate that so many of these new Legendary RE's are adding new abilities or replacing existing ones and therefore breaking interactions with other talents and REs. For instance, Blooming Shot only seems to scale with healing spell power, so all the modifiers to arcane shot seemingly don't work. Also, Arc Aim Concentration (arcane shot procs clearcasting) would be an easy fix for the mana issues except that it is explicitly banned for Grove Ranger. I think at this point I actually prefer many of the older REs just because they are more generic and this opens up the potential for unique builds. These new ones are so rigid and use up nearly all of your epic and rare spell picks, so the only real customization comes from green/legendary spells and your talents. I think you said it in a previous video, but it feels like Ascension has really lost the idea of "classless".

So I've been maining this build for a few weeks now and here's what I've discovered: Gear: SP is better than Agi, point for point, but Agi gear often comes with AP, so the formula for comparing gear is: 2(SP) = (0.65(Agi)+0.3(AP)) Or, simplified: "Double the spell power. If the number is more than the Agi and AP combined, the SP item will give you more bonus healing." There are other things to consider, such as Int, Sta, and secondary stats, so here's my personal stat priority: SP>Agi>AP>Int>Hit=Crit(Below Cap)>Mp/5>Stam>Haste>Spirit Here's why: SP is just the best stat hands down per point. 20 SP gives 40 healing. 20 Agi gives 13 healing, and 20 AP, which translates to 6 more healing on Medicinal Sting and Blooming Shot ONLY (Not Wild Growth, Regrowth, or Healing Touch, they only benefit from healing power) Agi is good, obviously. Your Grove Ranger shots scale from your ranged AP, and with the right talents and REs you can get up to 65% of Agi as Healing Power. In the end though, Agi has more of it's benefit in DPS bonuses than healing, even with the max possible scaling, and DPS is not the Grove Ranger's job. That said, the best set (IMO) for Grove Ranger is the Enhancement Earthfury set. It has every stat I want, and the bonuses are perfectly suited to Grove Ranger. Overall I love this class more than any healing spec besides maybe traditional Holy priest. Oh right, rotation: Medicinal Sting 100% uptime > Chimera Shot > Empowered Blooming Shot>Steady Shot A typical boss pull in M+ will be something like this: Pull with Medicinal Sting. Feign Death if needed. Chimera Shot Blooming Shot ---------------- Steady Shot x2 Blooming Shot Steady Shot Chimera Shot Blooming Shot --------------- Repeat between the lines until the boss is dead, adjust for mechanics. Anyway, Grove Ranger is a versatile healer archetype that brings some of the best raid heals in the game (yes I'm directly comparing it to free-pick tree specs) and has an interesting and unique play style. Oh yeah, did you know Grove Ranger can heal while silenced? 🙃

Legit have just started playing after watching your videos for awhile. I am lvl 57 on my first attempt and it's been fun so far. As of Season 9 I did a mythic 30 with Grove Ranger, which is my main. With the buffs and adjustments this class isn't that bad now. I finally get compliments and questions about how I'm able to perform so well. I plan on making a video of what I use, but this is entertaining to see the early works of this class in play. What a pioneer!

worse part with healers for dungeon leveling right now are Tanks thinking they can pull everything but getting hit hard, los us, and expect healers keep up and cast heals on them. Especially mana tanks that don't realize when there mana is gone they get hit like a truck.

I think if you try to go on to serpent sting multipliers as well as arcane shot, it'll help their healing. The same thing is with that time healer build, spec into damage abilities that turn to healing and they jump way up -Leblo

Chimera shot is good to pick up.and from what I tested blooming Grove scales off arcane shot modifiers. And having a few extra hunter shot abilities help keep up Grove ranger stacks. I did a few run but they was lvl 50 dungeons I was pushing around 400hp sec. From what I been doing is mainly druid and a few shaman talents and only a handful or hunter talents spec seem pretty good for me. I rebuilt vampire lord spec I was playing if you want to see hp per second that's the build over 1000k a sec but if people get chunked it's hard to come back

Having just done this yesterday, it's definitely a boss-oriented spec. Chimera Shot to keep your Medicinal Sting up constantly on a boss, plus any shot gives stacks. Getting rid of Regrowth is a good idea, but you're definitely built way more into shaman heals than me. Raw Nature healing is what I built for, and it seems to be working alright, though mana will always be an issue. -Punt

Had a lot of grove rangers so far in mythic and some in m+. My experience with them was usually awful, slowed down the progress in the dungeon as they wouldn't have enough healing for more than a pack of enemies at a time. This was mostly due to players thinking they were supposed to be dealing damage instead of actually healing people. Now I had two instances where the heals were actually decent, one in a m+ where the dude healed alright and managed to handle more than a pack at a time. The other them being that Scholomance in your clip where my internet died right before Ras, sorry about that. :D Chenzillen - Thrall

Stack AGI for rAP and use the Druid conversion talent to gain healing power for wild growth/HT/RG. You can play dark surgeon the same way. The RE intentionally states that part of the kit doesn’t scale with SP. You can probably increase the base healing a ton with the proper shot/sting talents and rAP. Mana regen is solved by using the applicable hunter talents. I feel like they just changed AGI to help with spell crit too

Something like this: Sting > Blooming (1 stack) > Wild Growth on Tank (cash the stack) > focused burst > direct healx3 > blooming shot (enhanced) +1 stack > Wild growth -1 > focused burst > cashx3 > repeat (this is assuming focused burst will give you 6 stacks)

Great video, just wanted to say that using blooming shot outside of its buff is a meme, thats why most people are using other hunter shots(mostly steady shot) to build stacks, and relying on hots during that part of the rotation. Supposably, you can easily get away with enhance/hunter set with aspect of the viper in m+, but im still spam prestiging for that setup. Not sure if riptide is the play over rejuvenation, lifebloom, efflorescense, and regrowth. It's really just another HoT spec, but seed is better at that. -Zofyen

I have fouind that i love the Tree of Wrath healing build. Its fun does healing and damage honestly IMO good group healer. not sure if its great for M+ as after 120 rerolls never saw Tree form but just what i had with it was very good. Derpz XD

Should have made a powershot heal that works kinda like preservation evoker dream flight but a arrow. So it heals for x% on shot but then leaves a aoe line patch that heals for x% every 1 secs for 6 secs.

I've found Grove Ranger to be quite good, with the one problem being that the REs two transformed abilities are really weak. Medicinal Sting should probably do twice the healing it currently does, and Blooming Shot should do like twice the damage and three times the healing it currently does. Outside of that, the natural synergy with Resto Druid is really nice, as I'm getting easy 3.5-4k crits with healing touch, and I just use Wild Growth on cooldown and pepper out Rejuvenation to anyone who needs a little extra healing.

Well, i love to play paladin themed chars. I recently tried "one with the light" as a leveling RE. It was great. When the patch dropped, they removed the "+holy spelldmg" it had to balance the -50% physical dmg. So that re is a pure debuff before you hit 50. I hate the new change for "hybrid". Where my Shield of the righteous hits for 400 it now hits for 160 with the same RE. I want the previous patch back.

Saw you buying living essence... A bit before you did this I caught a guy trying to reset the market of those to 50g each. Luckily I had a couple of stacks to post and he took some of them for 30g. Stuff never sold at 50g and then they went down to 10-15 again.

I would revisit this build, im using it while leveling over and over now and i feel as strong as prayer of preservation with instacast heals for running with the tank that just chain pulls.. I would i do also use the get healing power from agi enchant on 3pieces.. arc aim consentration epic for free healing almost.

is there a speec thats only based on Autohits and attack speed ? with slice and dice ,windfury and every attack speed buff with aoe ? what i mean is go in autohit afk and bäm dps high ? im honest i was playing on ascension but its a bit to much right know i have a dragon tamer with spells's skill all over the place its very hard to get in

The issues with this spec makes me worried for the other healing specs. I know there was a problem with the respawn on one of the items to get Cyrotherapist, but the devs were aware and working on it (might already be fixed). Hopefully, they're keeping an eye on the other problems and are quick to make changes as needed. - CasualHealer

I love how the enchant specifies that the healing doesn’t increase from any spell power. Also the healing from blooming shot is also increased by 100% not 40% from Nature’s Power buff. The wording is just weird sometimes, 100% damage and healing with 40% mana cost reduction, that being said since it is getting a 100% increase and STILL not doing that much healing shows how under-tuned it really is. At least make it stay on the ground as a HoT but you can only have one Blooming Shot “HoT patch” on the ground at one time. It would fix the whole problem of spamming it and not benefiting from the buff ever and increase the duration of the Grove Ranger buff to like 10 seconds.

Regarding the Valentine event bosses... They do insane damage by design, but you need to use cologne to negate the effect (actually there are two items which you use, depending which boss gives the dot)... They can kill players on WotLK as well... Mcdgw :)

Valentines event if people don’t get the cologne and the perfume on the table they take insane damage from the mobs. They need at least one on for its protection.

When I saw this spec on the teeser I thought it would be more of an attacking build with offheal possibilities. Like autoattack and serpentsting and arcaneshot to do like 3k dps with some offhealing. Not topping dps or healing at all, just support :) That was my thought of the build atleast. // Majj

i been played the build and i think the same sling should be more spameable for you to wait for blooming shoot, instead of it thinked they should change them arround make the proc an aoe on the ground that you leave for your teammates and the shoot be like the other specs that it heals a percent of the damage it does around the target, that will make it feel way better -onemoreheal

i have been making it work in mythics, i started as full SP but that didnt work. started using Shammy gear to double dip AP and SP and it worked so much more. im not saying its very good but i have been making it work and looking forward to any buffs.

At 15ish mins in when you're doing the v-day event... the people in your group taking big dmg were standing directly in one of the mobs abilities, which does a fair bit of dmg. Lol. Generally, as a tank, you want to have that guy turned around facing away from the group and as a dps you don't wanna stand directly in it

those mobs throw poisons,you must take bottles from table..and than you wont take that much dmg:D

As I am seeing it, it definitely needs SOME kind of change. My primary thought of a change was making something like Blooming shot be a 2 sec GC ability or Nature's Power makes Blooming Shot into an instant cast. And the part about Wild Growth I think should increase according to every stack it has (If it deals 100 ish dot healing by itself, then five stacks makes it deal 600 ish dot healing) but I honestly haven't seen any of how good Wild Growth could be. It is an "in theory" good ability since its an aoe dot heal that stack with many other dots, but WoW's system has almost never been kind to dot healing. PS. the sting that would give healing to all allies should act similar to Haunt, in that it heals for full when the enemy dies, regardless of how long it has been on it, or maybe even spreading it to other enemies like a poison, resetting when out of combat. PPS. It does sound like this was made with the idea of it being a pvp healer. Rangers are often really good in pvp "but if they could heal, how much better could it be?" was the idea but they forgot to tone it for pve.

This is very strange cause I'm lvling with the grove ranger while watching this idk if there was an update since you've recorded this but at lvl 50 I'm healing for more than you are at max with blooming shot Keramune-Thrall

Never get meditation before pyromaniac. They do the same thing, but Pyro gives you more crit (usually, until you're at extremely high spirit levels) and gives you threat reduction. Meditation is almost always worse, and is what I consider to be a trap talent.
