You guys have discovered what I discovered over the last 7-1/2 weeks as an official Callaway / MyGolfSpy tester of the Callaway Paradym irons! I’m 74 years old and have a 7- iron clubhead speed about 3-4 MPH slower than Kevin, and I have consistently gotten 160-170 yards of carry wither Paradym 7-iron. Yes, there are absolutely some “jumpers” with the Paradyms, where I have gotten more than 175-177 yards of carry with that 7-iron (and as much as 215 yards with the Paradym 5-iron!). I even played 9 holes of all-irons golf with those Paradym irons and it helped my score tremendously, plus I still reached both par-5 holes on that nine with lofted wedges (AW, SW or LW) for my third shots.

I play to a plus with P790s. I picked up Paradyme X because at 64 and battling military disabilities wanted to see distance gains. I play from blues or tips. No hot iron shots so far. I use the same tempo with these clubs. These clubs are crazy long yet land and stop like a rock on the green for me.

@@hiltd0860 Tried them at my local range, getting fitted Thursday... they FEEL incredible, send the ball absolutely flying, seemed for me to have MUCH better dispersion than my Lynx Predators... I didn't get any sudden flyers either as long as I kept my swing consistent. Really pretty and effective clubs that feel great to use, I can't wait!

Don’t be seduced by the distance. Instead be disturbed by the distance dispersion. 20 yards difference in carry from front to back is not what you want in your irons. Irons are about precision and consistency. 2 jumpers out of 8… that’s 25%! Anything but precise and consistent.

I totally agree, if he goes left of center at all he flies the green and around where I play thats bush. Definitely has hot spots! That’s why spin retention is so important with irons because he’s only losing 600 or so rpm and flies it 15 yards further. That’s scary and a ticking time bomb on the course.

I totally agree! My buddy has the Callaway Rogue X iron’s and flies the green by 10-20 yard’s quite often. That usually ends in a lost ball. Nobody should want a club that goes 160 on average, but flies 180 on a miss hit. Let’s not even get into hitting out of the rough.

I'm a 40+ handicapper. I would like to ask if you think this club might fit me. Cause right now, I got gapping issues with my 6 hybrid to 7 iron (Stealth 6 hybrid at 28 to Launchpad 7 at 30.) I looked at the specs and the perfect way I would be able to gap would be to play the X at 8 iron at 31.5 and my Launchpad 8 at 34 with my Launchpad 9 next at 39 and the X at PW at 41 and AW at 46. I know that's a little gapping issue at the bottom end but I'd much rather hit a full 9 and make sure it goes high as than a full PW and possibly thin the hell out of it by trying to hit it too hard. You think that might be a good strategy or try something else?

If you bend/order those 2-degrees weak for a 31-degree 7-iron, off the grass it will be spinning basically 6000rpms and you will have a club with even less offset that even low handicappers will like. It's like an older Apex CF-16/19 shape that isn't clicky - and that is a club that most golfers can play - from 3 handicap to 25.

It would be very useful to see the results for someone with a 7 iron swing speed of 75 mph. The kind of player who gets 130 to 160 yards with a 7 iron and has a 10 to 18 handicap. Kraft has a swing speed more typical for a scratch to 5 handicapper.

Well, I personally can give you something close. I have a 28 degree 6 hybrid and I swing around that 75mph swing speed you're looking at and I'm a pretty consistent 145 to 150. So with a 29 degree iron, I'd expect maybe 135-140 numbers.

@@jacobwilkie241 Thanks, much appreciated. I am 81, will be 82 in June, and am still playing forged blades with weak lofts. With my 35 degree 7 iron with a 77 gram Nippon Zelos 7 stiff shaft that I just changed to instead of my 120 gram Rifle Lite stiff shafts I have been getting an average carry of 134 yds, ball speed 96.7, back spin 5154 with a Pro V1x ball, with one max of 140 yds, ball speed 99.8. With a Bridgestone BXS ball I recorded an average carry of 137.8, ball speed 98.6, back spin 4559, with one max shot of 146.2 yards, ball speed 103.2. I don't doubt I could get longer carry with a 29 degree 7 iron, a loft halfway between my 6 and 5 iron. It is tempting, but I can't afford new clubs. And I still love the look of those blades and the feel. Now if I can just find a 60 mm mortar to launch my drives, I can get close enough to use that 7 iron for approaches! LOL.

@@johnk.atchley5079 It's great you hit your irons really well. But I can see one way you could get better while not adding too much loft for cheap. I see you have a 35 degree 7 iron. I play a 34 degree 8 iron and hit maybe about 10 yards shorter than you. So I can see potential of you hitting 150 with your 7 iron really easily. And that's by just getting some Wilson Launchpads. I know, if you've seen them, they may not fit your eye but trust me, for an 81/82 year old like yourself, I think they might add even more help for you to get the ball in the air. And the 7 iron it holds is a 30 degree loft so if you hit it like you do with your 7 iron now, which I'm sure you could hit it maybe better than you do now, I'm sure you'll get to the 150 range. Hell, when I changed my clubs to these Launchpads, I gained about 11 yards. And they are cheap too. Depending on where you live, they would be in the $100-150 mark. I got mine for $135 in Australia and I gotta say, probably the best $400 I've spent on clubs so far. Gapping is a bit of a problem right now since I got a 28 degree 6 hybrid after the 30 degree 7 and I go all the way down to my 46 degree PW after my 39 degree 9 iron. So that's really the only problem I have with these clubs. But other than that, maybe take a look and try them out. Maybe you'll get the distance you want and not have to get the driver.

I've had these irons for about 4 weeks now and have played 7 rounds with them. The dispersion and distance control is not nearly as severe as the guys in this video. Probably has a lot to do with the fact i'm not swinging my 7-iron 120mph. Long story is i've played more than a handful and my scores have been better than they typically are, with what was a 9 handicap that is down to an 8. And as far a spin goes, i generally get lots of spin, but i have not yet had an issue where i've hit the green and rolled off. Mine all have been really well at holding. And i'm not some Callaway fan boy. I had never heard of these irons prior to my fitting and would absolutely move on from them if they weren't performing on the course, but they seem to be.
@jacobwilkie241
@jacobwilkie241 Жыл бұрын
Yeah same here. I tested the X's because simply, I wanted a longer distance iron that would increase my forgiveness. First few shots were not my best, probably 6/10 for me personally (40 hcp with 80mph driver head speed) and I was totaling 130m on a few (about 5m farther than my best 7I). But then after those few shots, I started to get into a flow and was hitting some fantastic ones. But I never hit a shot farther than 138m, even on my best strikes. Not to mention, the average ball roll out for me was 7m. That's holding a green. And I was getting upwards of 5800-5900 spin on average but a few got up to around the 6400-6500 mark which is really good to see from a 27.5 loft 7 iron. These irons will go into the bag at some point. Just depends on when. I love the distance, the accuracy, the spin and the height.

By the way, at my age, I don’t usually game a 5-iron, but the Paradym 5-iron is soooo easy to hit that it’s a no-brainer gaming it. I am even thinking of getting a Paradym X 4-iron to use off the tee as a “driving iron”. I should probably get 225 yards-plus from the Paradym X 4-iron, which is my normal 5-wood distance.

There are a number of comments about distance and why one needs extra distance in a 7 iron. Well, when you get older, you'll know. In my 30's I hit a 9 or 8 iron 150 yards. Now in my 70's I hit a 6 iron that far, maybe. Mentally I still think in terms of a 7 iron should be my 150 club. Club manufacturers need to find viagra for clubs...lol.

Still seems a little chunky and clicky to me but maybe that is just the audio in the clip given what you both said but fascinating -probably worth testing for many of us. Question is whether there is a consistency of distance as opposed to fliers. I recently tested the jpx 923 forged against my club (Pxg gen 5) and decided to stick to my gen5s - odd flier with the jpx and the gen 5 feel was marginally better than the jpx. Key difference was the shafts which I preferred on what I have clubs what was offered with jpx. The trajectory and landing angle on these sounds fascinating and worth checking out perhaps. Especially for those of us in our later years!!

@@simrandhawan9084 I have the gen 5p which is what I compared the jox923 forged to. The fliers came from the jpx. I have a serious question. What is the actual benefit of so much distance from a 7 iron? Doesn't it mean buying a whole new set of wedges to maintain appropriate yardages for scoring?
@AndreeMarkefors
@AndreeMarkefors Жыл бұрын
The benefit is for the manufacturer. They sell more clubs. The rule might say "14 clubs", but it's actually "15 penises"-and you measure in length off the tee. This 7-iron has 0.25" added shaft length and 6 degrees(!) of loft on my MP-32. In my set, this is like a 5.5 iron. But I'm not hating on it, even though I agree with your comment. I just don't think players that hit 160+ "normal 7-irons" should be fitted into these clubs. I'd use this tech to potentially get better spacing at the top end. After my 5-iron, going to 4 and then 3, the spacing compresses and I'd take a few more yards per club up there.
@BuckMcAntlerson
@BuckMcAntlerson Жыл бұрын
@@AndreeMarkefors Don't disagree on the penises (never thought I'd start a statement that way...) but I think the point is (also) that with the clubs being able to achieve a higher launch angle they can lower the loft for more distance with less spin and still have a 7i hold a green like a higher lofted 7i should.
@AndreeMarkefors
@AndreeMarkefors Жыл бұрын
@@BuckMcAntlerson That's fair enough, and at least for arguments's sake I'll straight up "accept that". But even so I'm questioning the benefit of just renumbering "known distances". Because if all clubs are straight up 'one club longer' you'll just cut one at the top end and add another wedge. I don't see the benefit of hitting a 155 yds wedge at some point. I somehow doubt 175 yds will suddenly become "scoring distance" just because you have an 8-iron in your hand. Once again: not hating the new tech, more head scratching. And I'm guessing they are great if one's 7-iron goes 120 yds with old tech?

So yea this is SHOCKING THE AMOUNT OF A FLYER JUMP YOU GET FROM THE SAME IRON .no thanks ....

Those things would hold greens like Susan Bullock driving a bus with a bomb on it. No thanks.

To far, to hot. If wedge is going 140 then you need 5 more clubs after that to fill the gaps. Unless your over 80mph you simply won't hold greens.

I'm a Callaway fanboy but this is just plain old marketing BS. Let's do some comparative analysis...say against the Rogue ST Max.

This Iron is not for a good and hard hitting golfer. So dont think it is. The weaker golfer Will have less front and back dispersion anyway.
