The River Test area between Overton and Laverstoke is featured in the 1972 novel _Watership Down_ and its 1978 film adaptation. In the film, Michael Hordern, the narrator of this video, provides the voice of Frith (the sun), which the rabbits see as a deity.

40 years ago. Someone should go back and go over the items covered in this intelligent documentary and compare it with the present. I don't think it would be a pretty picture; successive governments have ignored both people and place, allowing the destruction of effective employment, countryside, agriculture, education, policing, towns and housing.

Never heard Romsey pronounced Rumsey. My parents lived there for over 30 years, and no one referred to the town as Rumsey.

My family lived nearby for many generations (King's Somborne and Stockbridge) and pronounced it RUM-ZEE... in fact, though moved away, we still do. King's Somborne pronounced King's ZUMBURN too.

The GLC did the same thing to peterborough turning it from an East anglian market city to a dumping ground that's got worse over the years.

Congratulations to the producers in making the most mawkish and twee video in history.

It's Romsey or Rumsey, all depends on weather if you are Hampshire born and bred and have that broad accent. Both felt the effects of the 80s destruction of industry, some places like Southampton was hit by the Tory Government right away, while others like Romsey and Andover did not affect till the 90s, Just have a look at all those companies how many are left, The industrial site at Nursling that they showed a few second off, never did get maximum use, there are still open spaces and empty warehouses on that complex. Southampton Waters is just a small stretch of the River Test, which pours into the Solent

It's Romsey, not Rumsey! + Andover is the poor relation to Romsey, we get all the social housing, Romsey gets all the private development. Andover is fast becoming lawless and unpoliced
