I'm 5ft 4 and roughly 145lbs, I started cardio exercising last February in hopes of losing weight but transitioned to mostly strength training. In the process of strength training I haven't lost any weight but I haven't gained, besides gaining strength and seeing physical progress I've also gotten rid of Acanthosis nigricans( caused by insulin resistance) on my chest which usually developes when I weigh more than 135lbs. I'm a busy stay at home mom who doesn't have hours to dedicate to exercising but the 30ish minutes 3 to 5 days a week of strength training have helped me so much health wise and is worth it alone even if I don't fit back into my size 4 clothes again!

I owe it to you guys for getting to a point where working out doesn’t consume my time and thoughts. My life is more balanced now. I didn’t think this would happen and it has taken place gradually since I’ve started listening to your podcast and implementing your tips.

Hey I’m constantly going to the gym and doing heavy circuits. My weight has not gone down and it’s a bit depressing. I’ve heard you say not to do circuits and stick to one weight at a time. I was under the impression that doing circuits is like cardio which helps reduce body fat. I’m 5’7 and 218lbs and I’m trying to get to 177lbs Is this a dream to get to this weight ? I’m 54 is this even possible??😢

@@ricardobenjamin2756 I’m no expert, but I think your goal is totally obtainable. If you haven’t tried anabolic, I think that would be a good program for you to start with. 2-3 full body workouts a week plus getting in some walking every day will do wonders!
@JesSoccer92487
@JesSoccer92487 Жыл бұрын
@@ricardobenjamin2756 I think (and let me be corrected if wrong of course) you should do a program like MAPS anabolic, because you probably need to track progressive overload and focus on building muscle vs cardio circuit training where you're only burning the calories you are currently eating but not necessarily gaining much muscle and your body is probably hitting plateau bc its adapted to that style of workout... prob also need to track your macros a bit esp see if you're getting adequate protein for muscle to repair and grow

I started listening to you guys 11/2022 and got on MAP 15 and MAPS prime because I needed to just be consistent. These pod casts & programs have helped me so much. I'm focusing on getting stronger, eating whole foods, getting 40% of my protein at breakfast, and 10 min walks after every meal. I have 100+ lbs to get off, but im not worried about the scale even though im down 10 lbs. Just getting stronger and lifting more is my main focus. I've learned so much from you guys. Thank you for spreading positivity and sharing your expert knowledge. You guys are the best!

I started going to a gym as a new year resolution at my highest 125 kilos .. after 4 months of group cardio sessions 5 times a week, i hit a dead end at 113 kilos .. dropped out of gym .. i was exactly like "i wanna enjoy my life" type of guy.. blaming my genetics for my over weight.. around June is when i came across MIND PUMP.. You guys were like that breath of fresh air for someone who was drowning.. I've been regular with 4 to 5 days of lifting weights.. now at 88 kilos.. Stronger.. feeling much better.. I met some friends after a year on new year.. boy the compliments i got were priceless.. Big Thank You to MIND PUMP ❤️

I've been listening to y'all for over 2 years now. My husband has been lifting for 10 years and I've been lifting for around 5 years. I love hearing about all your wives & their pregnancy/fitness journies. I am currently 3 months postpartum with a honeymoon cruise in April. It was our first child, so the mental game of seeing my body transform so fast was hard to stomach. I'm just now getting back into the gym, lifting again, and slowly seeing my pre-pregnancy body return. Due to our pregnancy, my husband also gained some baby weight that he's struggling to get off. We'll continue to listen and learn from y'all!

Love the point of muscle memory. Mid 2022 I caught Covid, then had plantar fasciitis, then damaged my lower back at work, all within a month, that meant no gym for 6 months! Got back into the gym early November and before Christmas I had gained all I had lost over that 6 month period! Very grateful for the evolution of human being and our muscle memory! 💪🏼😁 Now to re-gain all the lost gains over Christmas 🎅

Excellent point about picking a realistic workout plan. This is the main advice I give people. Consistency is the key. Pick a workout schedule you can commit to 100%. Two or three days a week is perfectly fine as long as you stick with it long term. Way too many people try to do too much too fast and just give up after a month or two.

I love your content! Last March I committed to 20 mins of exercise 3x a week. I ended up doing 20-30 mins anywhere from 3-5x a week. I’ve tried to get into shape so many times and always failed for the exact reasons you pointed out - you don’t go from a sedentary lifestyle to hitting the gym an hour a day 5x a week. In august I joined a 100 day challenge to move 30 mins a day and shocked myself by actually doing 30 mins as a minimum each day. In November I started working out harder. Doing Pilates and HIIT style workouts. Over Christmas break I worked out 6 days a week because I love to. I haven’t seen any changes physically with weight loss BUT I am stronger, I have more stamina and that is enough motivation to keep me going. Hopefully this year I can slim down a bit, gain more muscle, and continue getting into better shape. Thanks for the inspiration your podcast brings to me every week! It really motivates me to keep going and teaches me a lot!

On and off for years here, started a PPL split awhile back with proper protein & creatine and put a decent amount of strength on relative to a skinny fat guy who couldn’t lift a 20lbs dumbbell. Now I have been able to personally come to that point where 3-4 days of 1 hour training with trigger sessions is so appealing. I will say i believe a huge part of it is mindset and learning to convince yourself the goal is health and you what Sal said about loving yourself not hating yourself as the motivation is KEY to wanting it.

I make 5 days Monday to Friday a habit of workouts before work, some being better than others. Then understand that other things may interfere with two or three of those days but always get back to it. Learned on my own by trying several things that weight training works for me and sometimes throw in some spin classes and getting more footsteps. Have been pretty consistent for past 20 years but food is the killer! One other thought is how useful watching the fat percentage on the scales...and keeping an awareness on that and staying within a range to not get to a place where it becomes a big project to lose a pile of weight. Food is my nemesis and eating from boredom! Trying to focus on protein and vegetables right now to put that in check.
