To share some vulnerability: Today is my last day with my cat of 17 years. I am listening to this before bed and just wanted to say thank you all at WPE for this gift of normalcy during a period of such tumultuousness and heartbreak. It felt really really good to listen to some levity and to sniffle laugh along with you guys today

The nice thing about the podcast is that the WPE crew are genuinely good people who are genuinely entertaining aside from the rage and trolling and screaming and hysterical laughter we see on the streams, and the podcasts let us see the nice parts of them.

As someone who worked at Starbucks for about 3-ish years the names thing is even something that pisses me off. One time we had this trainee who was always spelling everyone's name wrong or hearing the wrong and we had to change the name basically every single time. The odd mistake is a given we're only human. The amount of stories I've got from that place is in the 100's 😂

I got hired as a front desk person for a mechanics shop when I was 19 or 20, and I would go weeks at a time without seeing any customers. I wasnt allowed in the "mechanics part of the shop". The few times I tried booking work for the place, I would get told off. 6 months in, I turned up to work and the entire place was surrounded by SWAT/Police, and I was detained on the spot. Turns out, this place was a chopshop drug smuggling front. I was young and didn't see any tells or dodgey activity, and to be honest, was the best job I've ever had to this day. Everyone was really nice (except when I actually tried to do my job and get them work). Full benefits, insurance, over minimum wage, the works. Imagine the look on my dad's face when I told him why I didn't have a job anymore. Thanks for the podcast, always a good listen 👍

Too expand on the whole 'if dreams were free' topic, like cath and gabby i would LOVE to own my own cafe, but iv always pictured a speacility restaurant. The Fandom Cafe. It would be catered to thosw of us who are OBSESSED with tv/games/storylines, it would be stylised like an american cafe, each booth would be themed, so for ellis, a Halo booth, space looking, a picture of master chief on the table, with other space type items around, maybe a few books/comics within that area that are reccommended to those who love halo. There would be tv screens tuned to episodes of certain tv shows around the cafe. Cosplayers will have discounted meals (percentage dependant on effort put into costume).... food would be themed on characters, like there would be a friends platter called "Joey doesnt share food!" ... if only dreams were free!

Employees represent the company they work for. A dick of an employee shouldn’t have been employed. The higher up in the hierarchy an employee is, the more pertinent this becomes. I get Ellis’s point about corporations going under impacts staff, but if it is otherwise profitable, someone else will buy up the premises and need similar staff.
