Hi, great video ! I’m seriously considering getting this watch, here is my dilemma, is this one better/worth it more than the submariner no date ? I know they are a bit different. I’m going to be trading in my mint omega Speedmaster Racing CoAxial in order to help finance this purchase, is that a good move ? don’t think the omega will go up in a value anyways. Thanks !!

Just got mine, brand new. Took no time to get used to the brilliant dial.....easy to switch from hour to min/sec mode....love the colors, the anti magnetic. Instant classic.

Absolutely spot on. Having had and sold both Sub (non-date) and Dweller -something I now regret- I have decided to put another Rolex in my collection; and, this is the one. I am hoping they discontinue soon. Remember the Sky Dweller's journey? Try and get one of those now and you will need a few stiff drinks and a mortgage. But, for the first few years no one wanted one. The splash of colour in the Air King makes it interesting, and to the traditionalists I say...look at the Rolex branding and Logo. Green and Yellow are not off-the-wall Design choices. It will become a future classic.

Great commentary and video. I’ve been looking at this watch for a quite a few months now as a first Rolex for our sons 30th and luckily just purchased a brand new one (although had to go on a waiting list) My hubby has the GMT 2 but I personally prefer the Air King ..I think the lay out of the dial and Rolex colours make it a stand out piece that is quite stunning and definitely a better value piece to collect. Let’s hope our son thinks so too!

Awesome review, I love the design of this watch, the explorer and Milgaus because of their familiarity are preferred by traditionalists as you pointed out, let Rolex finally play with a design that in my mind it’s a true winner...

Hi, great video - some excellent information especially regarding the historic elements of the air king. How are you enjoying the watch. This personally is to be my first rolex, purchased and awaiting delivery in the next couple of days. I love the heritage, unique looks, case size both in thickness and diameter, and the anti mag properties it shares with the milgaus are just plain cool. I actually really like the milgauss for similar resaons as this, it breaks the rolex mould with its splaces of colour. However one positive of the AK over the Mil, in my opinion, is the fully brushed bracelet! I'm purchasing as an everyday wearer and this plays a large part in my decision. How are you finding the bracelet and the clasp, any issues with the lack of safety flip lock?

I wish the Air King would be available soon in 36mm in case diameter for men with small wrists.

I just got my no date Sub 41mm after being 10 months on the waiting list. Now I'm looking for a more "daily" watch. I'm on the list for thd Explorer but the AK could also be an option...a dilemna... What problems we have ;)

Subscribed! I have no luxury watches (yet) but the Air King has been on my radar for the past 6 months. I hear some people saying that this should never be a first purchase - though the more I watch such videos, the more I feel this is JUST as good a buy as the Explorer. I actually prefer this OVER the Submariner! Even if I had the cash I’d still go for this Air King - that green and yellow logo is just so unique and looks so good. It just reminds me of watching Wimbledon growing up in London! Perfect video, that you so much for making this.

It’s not difficult to pull the trigger for this watch. The 40mm anti magnetic case, the green and yellow logo, the green second hand, Mercedes hands, iconic AIRKING fond. And best of all the price. All the special features pack into one awesome watch at a great price. Still considering??

I just bought a new black ceramic bezel sub with date and love it but I want to look for one of these next. I just wish it wasn't close to impossible to buy one at retail as I cant afford the mark ups at my salary. I already overpaid for my sub but thats because it was my first watch from Rolex and I am excited. I now want an everyday watch that isnt as expensive as the sub and not as bulky and was looking at this or the Milgause because of the fun factor.

Love ❤️ the Airking . Yes it could be discontinued but necessarily this year. The average production run is 10 years. It might be 5 years for the Airking so 2021. Since I put a big chunk of money in Rolex hot pieces, I am not in hurry to buy the Airking. Even it gets discontinued, I think it will take many years to have a major price jump. What do you think ?

I agree. I only have one Rolex in my collection, and this is the one I chose. I mean, how many Submariners can one guy have and still be excited about them. EVERYbody makes a version of that. THIS, is unique.

It is and it isn't. I Have a Milgauss and have just bought a Air king that came just before Christmas. Lots of '5' numbers, 5 fonts, clashing colours. All these things upset someone. I actually like it because it is in the true tradition of Hans Wilsdorf, in so far as he didn't just go for what was acceptable. This Air king is a real winner.

It's underrated because most people don't care for it's looks and it' s needlessly fat (yes, soft iron cage). But, to each his or her own.

Question...at 9:26 of your review, you show the Air King with a "15" at the 3 position, a "30" at 6 position and a "45" at 9 position rather than the white gold 3-6-9 that appear in these positions on the actual watch. What's the story behind that? Was that some kind of a photoshop move to see what that would look like, or is that an actual variant of this watch that I have never seen before? I think it actually looks better that way than with the 3-6-9. If you're going to build a watch showing the actual minutes of the hour as markers around the dial, then why not be consistent all around the dial? If they built this version and then also made the "5" an "05" so all the numbers were 2 digit, I feel this dial would be more balanced and would make more sense. Then lume those numbers...and I would be all over this thing. Even though Rolex lume kind of sucks...the lack of lume on this dial is disappointing. They should at least lume the 3-6-9 like they do on the most modern version of the Explorer.

This one makes me laugh. It's a Milgauss with an odd dial and it has no link to the old Air-King. It isn't an evolution of its design and its real-world link is to a car, not an aeroplane. Rolex should have named it the 'Speedking,' and in-fact there is an old model with this name.
