I saw a similar video (with this move your teaching) 5 years back, and it did the same thing to my golf swing. Literally "Changed the game" for me and have been smiling ever since. It's important to add the value in getting the hands in the correct position (slot) at the top to piece this all together and efficiently smash the "inside half" of the ball. This move you shared sets everything up so well to create power delivery! This paired with the "Hands move" is the secret sauce. Thank you for sharing this. This video should be at a billion views because it's so valuable!!

I believe this is exactly why my progress stopped in the low single digits and remains there to this day all these years later. Too much lateral movement off the ball requiring too much timing to find a consistent low point, relying on hand-eye ability to hit good shots but often without true compression of the ball. Always had the tendency to slide my left knee more back toward the right instead of moving it more down toward the ball, which made the movements Russell is teaching here pretty much impossible. Maybe it’s not too late for an older dog to learn this new trick. Another excellent installment- thanks, Russell.

Wonderfully explained and kind of blows away my keep my hips still and for my rigid type of swing. More importantly it gives me a routine that makes sense and feels comfortable. Always struggled with my low point being to far back, this has made that all but disappear, blimey I may even start compressing the ball!! Simple, effective and expertly put across! BZ!!!

I’ve been a weekend golfer for almost 30 years and have taken lots of lessons but nothing really worked to produce a solid feeling and low score producing golf swing so always resorted to “tinkering” and “trying” different swing thoughts and feels to try to salvage a round of golf when things fell apart. Since discovering Russell’s channel about two years ago and implementing his fundamental swing instruction and techniques I have finally played consistent golf and am shooting in the mid to upper 80’s. You are an incredible instructor with easy to understand instruction that changes weekend hackers like myself and make golf fun and not always just frustrating. I am constantly coming back to fundamental videos like this one and “remembering” how to move the body and arms correctly when things get a little wonky and then I’m back on track again. I can’t thank you enough Russell for your simple yet effective instruction.

@@russellheritagegolf Now if you could just help me with my putting. I fear it’s hopeless. Maybe you could please do a video or a series of videos on the short game. Around the greens and putting is where I loose easily 5-7 strokes a round. Who knows, I might drop into the 70’s at that point.

Simply put, this is brilliant stuff. A lot of average golfers never get the weight back onto front foot. My transition is.a little later than what your showing which ends up with me being more stuck in the down position. Can’t wait to get out and try the earlier weight transition. Again brilliant job!

Ok Look, You just gave me my own ahha moment 5 mins ago. I simply couldn't figure out how to use the body in the rotational swing. I've always been a flipper. 150 yard 7 iron if I'm lucky. I just worked on the last 3rd part of the swing for 10 minutes holding at p7 at 7:00 mark like you do with weight into the left and blamo. Anywhere from 138-148 smash factor ( never seen that with my flippy swing before in my life) and carry distance (60% effort) of 130-140 with just the last third of the swing. Thank you , Thank you Thank you. I know there's a lot more work to do but wow what a glimpse of the possible.

I think most golfers even with lower single digit handicaps could benefit from this tip. I think other than elite golfers no one really ever sequences their swing correctly and can truly recenter to their lead side the way it should be done. Well except for when they do it by accident and don't realise it and wonder how to recreate that same feel and great result. This is an amazing bit of advice you have provided here. Thank you!!

Hi Russell; I have a question about proper footwork when you begin the transition. Should your heel come off the ground & rotate toward the target or stay on the ground & roll inward toward the inside of the foot? A problem I have is rotating my hips too quickly & too far before impact. It's winter in the states so I can't hit balls to try it. Thanks.

Hi Russell, I would say your height drops about 2-3” half way back rather than closer to the top of the swing. I have that height drop in my swing by right arm horizontal in the backswing, which leads me to stand up in the downswing and strike it thinner. Is it because I’m possibly not recentering also?

Hi Russell. Is this a sort of ‘ stack and tilt’ type of swing would you say.? I have been trying that of late and it seems to have helped with the ball striking considerably.
@edwardsroba
@edwardsroba Жыл бұрын
I don’t think so as the weight still goes to the rear foot before moving back forward 👍
@Bawkzers
@Bawkzers Жыл бұрын
@@edwardsroba You can still stack and tilt with weight on back foot during the backswing. It's just basically teaching yourself to turn on a swivel, stacking over the ball or your sternum point rather than turning and shifting to the right.

The only problem I have with this feeling of "swinging up" is that you need to have a downward angle of attack through the ball, so if you have this "swing up" thought, you might early extend. The movement of hips and upper body through the backswing, however, was brilliant.
@davidgraham8058
@davidgraham8058 Жыл бұрын
It may seem that way but it will usually do the opposite. Early extension is often caused by a determination to hit down on the ball. People often get their head in front of the ball and the natural compensatory instinct is to early extend in order to make as clean contact as possible as you don’t have enough space otherwise.

Very helpful. Just to clarify one thing, there is advice out there that one should push up on the left leg forcefully, with videos showing some pros virtually jumping into the air. I don't think you are suggesting exactly that when you say upward movement. As you rotate your left hip, your left leg does straighten a bit at the end. But when I stop the video at minute 9:53 for example, your left leg is still bent at the knee even though it is well past contact and your hands have fully released and your right arm is all the way out to horizontal. Even when you have completed the entire follow through at 9:54 and your hands are above your head with the club shaft horizontal and pointing behind you, your left knee is still very slightly bent. So is it correct to say the upward movement you yourself make and recommend here is not a violent straightening of the left leg.

This is gold … just pick it up! I sliced the ball horrendously and so put a lot of time into improving strike and getting my lower body more active. Now I draw the ball and hit it farther and more accurately. It takes a lot of persistence but it’s worth it and these tips are really important. Just sayin’ …
