Traffic has noticeably refuced in Owerri than before. Must be the subsidy removal. Owerri is clearly better looking than before. Cheers.

So I'm trying to travel to owerri from America, but I'm seeing a lot of travel advisories saying it's high risk going therev right now. I need someone to help me understand if it's a good idea for a black American to go there now

I can't possibly advise you to come or not but one thing I am sure of is that the whole of southeastern Nigeria is basically the same when it comes to security. Nowhere is currently better even inside the villages but Owerri is definitely worth the try.

Most roads in Owerri are dilapidated and covered with mud and dusty. Go to Akwakwuna, Orji, Obinze, worldbank, etc.

Very disorganised. The traffic is not guided by laws everyone driving anyhow. No traffic lights, no indication, no signs. Owerri is still under developed and so have many rivers to cross.
