I strongly disagree. He should invest it in property (specifically starter homes) and build a portfolio. I don't understand all the people in the comments not understanding how money works. You can use it to make more.

That's great but if he's trying to live a debt free lifestyle then paying off his house is an easy decision. He still has plenty left to invest with. Besides Dave always recommends paying cash for real estate when possible,.

@@strack94 Dave recommends paying cash for real estate to people who have a 5th graders understanding of money. You should NEVER pay for something in cash when you can pay 20% later refinance it and then buy another property and repeat.

Somewhat of a polarizing figure this Dave Ramsay. With his philosophies on money saving and spending. Like him or hate him, he obviously knows a thing or two.

It amazes me how all these people just give away how much money they have. It makes you wonder if the stories are real sometimes. I wouldn't give away any of my personal financial information on a national radio show, but that's just me. He knew he could pay off his house but was just gloating about how much money he had probably.

I have 190k net worth. Congradulations you now know the net worth of me, some random person you have never met, nor will you ever meet. There is literally nothing you can do with that information. I have not told you my routing numbers, what banks it is in (if any), or any of my personal information other than my youtube account name and picture, both of which can be faked (which they clearly are). The fact you are so paranoid someone will steal from you without giving them the information needed to actually do so is just unhealthy.

@@LegDayLasJust a thing with some people I’ve noticed. I’m super open about my finances but others I’ve met have been raised and trained not to talk about it with anyone like it’s taboo. My wife was like that when we met. She thought it was wild that I wanted to combine our stuff so I could effectively budget lol.

It must be different in the US (actually I know it is)! I've had a tracker mortgage in the UK that's cost me on average 1.0% over bank base rate for the last 20 years - typically actually about 1.50% - 1.75%. It would be ABSOLUTE MADNESS for me to pay off any part of my mortgage any earlier than I need to. I can, instead, expect to get 8-10% return (over those 20 years) on global trackers in my pension-wrapper portfolio. I'd be *_crazy_* not to use the debt in my mortgage to grow my pension pot..... So "pay it off!" would have made no sense to me and many others here in the UK in the last decade and a half
