This is not Helios 44-2. It's a Helios 44, as is written on the lens barrel. Edit: In the video you called it a 44-2, but I see now that in the video title you clearly state it's a 44.

Do you think this is better than the 44-2? (as image quality and bokeh)

Thanks for your comment. According to my research, in resolving power from center to edge, the 44-2 has 38/20 lines/mm, and light transmittance of 0.82. The 44 has 35/14 lines/mm, and 0.81. The 44 is single layer and 44-2, chemical. No such big difference🙂

I think you won't. And why? Think the quality control over the normal one, less oil on the blades, ligther and like "luxury" version. And if you have a normal one, zebra version, you can invert the front lens and get the best of two worlds.

Hello, one more word. If your copy is an M39 version, to use it on a mirrorless, you will need first, to buy an adaptor ring from M39 to M42 and then, an M42 mount adapter to your camera :)

I have seen a M39 to Leica L mount from KeithFaith. Maybe they have it in other mirrorless mounts. No need for a M39 to M42.

You're deeply wrong about why there's "swirling" in bokeh happens, and about why it tend to make image "pop". Actually, reason of why lenses like Helios-40 and 44, especially m39 versions swirl like crazy - optical vingetting is reason of uneven light falloff in out of focus zone because of exiting pupil is too narrow for exiting light to get in the corners at the same angle (remember m39? Lesser diameter than m42, stronger the swirl). Technically, you can make any lens into swirling monster by simply putting cardboard circle somwhere in the mount to cut some light coming from the rear lens element to a sensor.

I had 3 copies over the years... in the end i sold them all, really it's a tree-bush-flower lens... because without it, you won't see much of a swirl at all, and as a "normal" lens, the lack of contrast, sharpness, extremely prone to flare make it "unworthy" for the occasional tree-bush-flower portrait you're going to take... just my 2 cents..

What you just mentioned is true. The KMZ series was produced about a year ago when my channel was launched and lenses from other brands have not yet been reviewed. As other lenses are revised, I feel a strong separation between them, especially when I started using Japanese lenses (Pentax) where the color, sharpness saturation and flare is much superior and gorgeous. And now, what to do with that lens that you currently think is worthless? In my point of view, it is accepting its defects and, from its defects, taking its virtue. Thanks for your comment.

Hi! I think you made a mistake, you don't have 13 petals, but 8. There are faces on the video, not a circle. Count them!

Indeed yes, it’s a 8 blades. At that time, I was told it’s a Helios 44-2, but it’s wrong, the same seller told me, it’s 13 blades, and again. After this, I decided to make my own research. Thank you for your comment.
