I guess rogue-lite is fair. The system map is probably randomly generated, the worlds themselves are also probably generated every time. This kind of meta-progression is also a rogue-lite feature, right? Even though it goes against the "lose ALL progress upon death" principle of rogue-likes.

@@_APV_ Roguelike means "like the game Rogue". That game had no meta-progression, so it's irrelevant. I would argue that permadeath is probably the single most important feature of being a roguelike, along with finding randomly placed loot that gives you the power you need to beat the game.

@@FortWhenTeaThyme you know everybody knows that rogue didn't have meta progression? But creating this "lite" as separate gentre is BS. No modern game denies meta progression completely because it's just bad game design. Achievements are meta progression, unlocking new characters is meta progression. There is no reason to compare modern day games to rogue that literally, and there is no reason to be a 🤓 about calling like/lite when everybody understands everybody

Speaking of min-maxing a tutorial, in Bladestorm (I love that game) you could indefinitely level your horse units in the opening tutorial fight for the...I think sword unit? by getting a 50-kill combo. Got to like level 30 before starting the game lul.

I'll pick this up, impose my own permadeath on the campaign, and see how that goes. I guess I'll go in with only one life and then if that's unreasonable after one or a few runs, I'll try three lives.

seems like a well rounded rogue-lite miner game. like the hovering bit. for me it depends on how much content there is because it kinda seems a little braindeath. and what i absolutely distaste is the artifact beeing a huge treasure chest and the cells/boxes that have different colors and are just a "!"... little bit off. but the worst thing is no stats for temporary upgrades...

Why would you not grab economic upgrades (e.g. more ores per block or more ore blocks) before any other buffs?

Past a certain point, it becomes more efficient to catch up certain other upgrades that allow you to gather more nodes/minute or nodes/run, because increasing that side of the nodes:node value equation becomes temporarily more impactful. But yeah, definitely should have started on it sooner here than he did. Kinda is what it is with live blind content for YT, though. "Best" choices don't always get made in the moment.
