The could not just be erased by an iron but it could also be erased with the eraser that is on top of the pen.The eraser create friction due to which the ink erases and that is why they are called heat sensitive pens or friction pens. Hope this helps 😊

Honestly if Light just used the heat-sensitive ink, he wouldn't have had to have so much trouble hiding the Death Note. Heat just makes the ink close to white, but doesn't actually erase it, so it would still take effect.

The frixion pen has a special ink which bonds with the paper if normal room temperature is used, but that bond will separate once heat or friction is used. That's also the same reason why one page with this ink erases if it was outside, under the sun, and when you photocopy it.

Im a registered nurse who used to work in a hospital where all paperwork must be filled by hand. Since it’s an official document; every time you made a mistake you had to fill it AGAIN. No liquid paper nor writing over. My colleagues and I eventually figured a way to correct the paperwork by gently scratching the mistake with an insulin needle. Similar to the sand eraser but even more precision 😂
