@@Gigarjian you only got it when switching from aerith to tifa when they were on their way to the beach. And even then there was several different ones to begin with so you weren’t guaranteed to hear this unless you switched enough to hear all of the different sets of banter.

@@vahlok1426Even if she’s the real Tifa Sephiroth has planted that seed of doubt in Cloud’s mind. The way she tries to make sure he’s okay and he shrugs it off without looking at her is sad. Their more complicated relationship in Rebirth is excellently done.

Best part about it, is it definitely has multiple meanings as well as accomplishing effing with clouds mind at the same time…. It can be sephiroth directly warning about jenova, it could be jenova warning about jenova appearing as sephiroth or it can be either jenova or sephiroth planting the seeds of doubt in clouds mind about tifa like we saw him do after the nibelheim flashback.

​@@HomeDefender30a lot of FF7 is about or has the theme of hidden or dual meanings. Like how in Japanese "planet" and "star" are the same word, which could be applies to Earth or Meteor. Or Cloud's and Barret's pasts.

what do you mean what will happen to cloud next game???? ffs is this yet another spoiler ive somehow managed to avoid since this project came out. im 30 years old, never played the original ff7 as i was like 3 at the time it released. ive only ever played ff 7 remake, ff14, ff15, and ff16. This is by far my favourite ff ive ever played and its not even close. but please dont tell me cloud dies or something in the final part. ive legit managed to avoid everything so far spoiler wise, until yesterday when i found out aerith dies because of some youtube goons title in his video. if this is yet another comment that just ruined the game for me im going to legit never look up anything on this game ever again. im 80 hours in and only on chapter 9

Yeah. Something I was expecting to see in the remake was how they'd treat less popular characters like Yuffie and Cait. And it seems they nailed it. Can't wait to see what they'll do with the remaining ones. And Yuffie's voice actress absolutely killed it. Well, all of them really, just like the character development in this game.

@@Daniel_Rodrigues_89 I'm not a fan of Cait Sith, his fighting style is just kinda wonky and awkward to me.... Buuuuut I thought the same of Yuffie at first, and now she's a shoe-in for my 3rd team member. Cloud and Tifa are almost always my two go-to's for damage; Tifa absolutely tears through health bars and Cloud is really good at stacking stagger. Maybe I'll find some footing with Cait Sith in my Hard mode playthrough. The Ninjutsu mechanic for Yuffie is honestly so clutch. If you use Doppelganger, she's a magical chaingun, and the Banishment ability does HUGE damage if you stack it up. One thing I did that probably requires too much setup to be practical is: Set up Aerith's Arcane Ward and Yuffie's Doppelganger, then had Yuffie go stand in the Ward and cast Thundara. I'm honestly not sure how many lightning bolts resulted from that, but it looked like a lot. Kinda want to try it again but with Magnify and Comet. Just to go fully apocalyptic.

​@@perrycarters3113I thought so about Cait too, but working on his weapon skills I've grown to like him. Use Moogle, spam abilities/magic is pretty much what I do. Moogle Punch is fun and so is Moogle Bomb (I think it's called)

Yuffies combat is amazing… ranged, elemental, up close, aerial, area of effect…. Top that off with her being able to teleport to her shuriken and she is just god level…. Triangle triangle square square square repeat! Or triangle and hold square…. Those two combos are unreal when used in tandem.

@@perrycarters3113 Oh man I didn't even think of Dopeleganger in Aerith's wards, Dopeleganger lasts for a long time too. Yuffie is insane with her damage ramp up abilities getting elemental jutsu, Dopeleganger and shooting star out before focussing on windstorm or art of war all working up to banishment. Blindside works as a counter attack/cc break that also hits really hard too her kit is so fun.

and then the next day, the same thing happens again :P

What I love the most about it, is it’s definitely taking inspiration from the ninja job class in ffxi… both with her elemental ninjitsu, and the clone ability essentially working like the utsetsemi ability.

Once Wutai was mentioned in chapter 1 of Remake it was clear the devs have a big plan for Yuffie. I really like Yuffie in OG and even I couldn't have imagined how well the devs have treated her and we're not even going to Wutai till PT 3.

Barret is, by far, the most relatable character. He translates best back into a real world, and he's now also closest in age to any OG FF7 players, so I'd guess he's a little higher on popularity rankings than back in the day.

I am only 18 but I find Barrett the most relatable due to our current climate crisis

@@adhirg I think the Devs are well aware people hated the materia theft. I think it'll be the huge materia in part 3 instead so the gameplay isn't negatively affected.

@@rakino4418 I think he will the Devs want to make up for Yuffie and Vincent being optional in OG. There's quite a lot of cut content that could resurface, Yuffie's mother dying when she was really young was meant to be a plot point for her I think we'll get that in pt 3. The setup for Yuffie headed into PT 3 is crazy, Wutai is getting a huge revamp. I feel absolutely spoiled as a big fan of Yuffie with how much they're doing for her.

True, especially since she is the most fun to play in combat.

Her personality in Intermission and Rebirth is more in line with her optional dialogue in OG. Her lines when she's in the party are more light-hearted and funny than some of the mean stuff she says in Corel and Cosmo Canyon. I really like Yuffie and still wince at the line at the campfire as Reds story is one of my favourite parts of og.

Eh...likeable is a bit of a stretch if you ask me. Personally, I absolutely despised her character in the OG game, and she's almost just as annoying in this one. She's better, but still feels like nails on a chalkboard half the time she talks for me (not due to the voice, just due to the dialogue/personality.)

@@kingofbudokai Mostly agreed. She's very much an annoying teenager, but there absolutely is a charm about her that makes her a much better member of the team than in the OG. I honestly don't think I ever used her in the OG voluntarily, but she's by far the easiest to use and most versatile member of the team here and I don't hate her, she's just...an annoying teenager, but we've all been there.

Given that in the original we rescue Aerith when Hojo was trying to forcibly cross-breed Red XIII with her, I'm not shocked.

I’m not a big card game guy myself, at least not as a player, I like collecting them though. But this was still fairly easy to figure out. I was surprised to see him struggle like that.

And especially looking at this from Max's perspective and what I know of where the game goes, it does help to expand deck options and strategies for those players. I did similar strategy arcs of trying to eat up board space to start, then some buffs, started factoring in the destruction type cards, before the final big change came and really changed up my deck.

I just kept forgetting you can win with one lane lmao. I overthink it; thinking I need 2 lanes to win.

I always got the impression that he preferred Tifa. I got Yuffie's date and if that's the quality level then they're all must see.

@@SR-kh6yq Cloud+Tifa is the canon, and so far nothing in this game has shifted that mindset from me. Aerith is the manic pixie dream girl but she certainly has some very interesting backstory/potential changes and fleshed out characterization. My 2nd time through I'll probably go for the Aerith date.

​@@SR-kh6yqtifa and Cloud are 100% cannon and its made clear if you read the books cannon to the remake trilogy. The Tifa date also doubles down on it by referencing this from the books. Also... having beaten the game.... I can tell you that even if you get aerith, there is A possibility it won't play out how you expect unless you do multiple pkaythroughs.

I missed that my instinct is to be nice to her. I went for her date scene and wow it was wonderfully done.

Yeah, I'm like...it's right there, in your face. It'd a bit harder to see at other times with there being other cards on tiles and such, but it being entirely blank tiles makes it fairly easy to see which tiles lol

I think some of the mid-game side quests start lowering a little bit, but that's probably more the new game smell waning a little. They're absolutely not "bad" but I'm not as hyped as I was before. I'm in the same place you are and I skipped ahead a little before figuring I should go back and finish some regions, and still need to go back to finish protorelics in like...half the regions, even though that sidequest clearly has a longer storyline that's likely going to have good payoff.

To be fair the original game’s translation doesn’t really get Red’s changing voice across in the English version-the Japanese had him change how he spoke more noticeably to my knowledge, like using “oira” to refer to himself EDIT: Yes, it is mentioned by Bugenhagen that Red is the equivalent of 15-16 years old, but we don’t really see much of a voice change in the original game’s translation in my opinion (but I also agree knowing Red’s actual mental age should have given Max a huge clue on who is speaking 😅)

I mean can't blame max for being confused when the subtitles say '???' instead of Red XIII. But he should have connected the dot at 2:07:35

@@skyedream75 I think they mention it in the OG that the voice he is using isn't his actual voice, but idr exactly what is said. Maybe I just am remembering outside knowledge gained over the past decades haha. I do remember bugen mentioning he's equivalent to a teenager though.

Well one reason probably for sales lagging behind remake P1 is because of the install base size of the PS4/PS4 Pro vs PS5.

​@@sean8102 That's not really a valid reason anymore considering we are in the mid-life of the PS5's cycle and have sold 50 million units so far and are readily available. It's honestly just downright depressing. Sometimes it makes me think streams like this hurt sales. I mean, why bother playing if you can just watch the whole game be played? Especially in this economy.. I know I've done it to other games. Then again, I've bought games that I've watched streamers play but those were mostly multiplayer games.

It won't affect the final part. They already said something along the line that part 3 is already in development. Not only that part 3 is going to reused about 50-60% of remake and rebirth assets anyway.

Jenova theme is incredibly well done. In a mostly orchestral soundtrack, adding synths and the scale and progression makes it sound so terrifyingly different from anything else. One of my favorite OSTs of all time, up there with Magus’ theme in Chronotrigger.

Nomura said the English localisation team messed up in OG and she didn't come across the way the developers intended. There's a clear effort on the devs part to do a good job with her and I expect they feel the same about Vincent.

@@DayFul That might be the case, but I think the bigger issue is really that Yuffie had so few lines to really be a team member and get her character fleshed out. This probably translated better for native speakers because of how Japanese language works, so localization was an issue to some degree, but I don't know if it was really possible to get her character across well with what they had to work with. Her getting a lot more screentime helps so, so much.

@@Kanriel Fair point Max made a good point on stream yesterday saying how we do a lot of the gap filling ourselves with how we interpret the characters in OG. That's one of the fun parts of these older games where a bit of the character requires some imagination on our part.

It's actually wild watching Max play because from a strategy/tactical sense, Max is pretty ass at the game. But man, he is a GAMER. I don't think I'll ever manage the blocks and aggressiveness by which he pulls off combat, and I didn't even get to rank 2 in pirates rampage before giving up and this guy almost hit rank 1 his first attempt and destroyed it in his 2nd try. It's really neat seeing someone approaching the game from a very different style than I do and it giving us each a solid amount of difficulty.
