Playing 1's is making me realize just how terrible I actually am. I was D3 in 3's 5 years ago and stopped playing. Just started playing again and I dont even think I deserved that rank. Thats why these videos are great.

no, you definitely deserved that rank 5 years ago, the skill ceiling has just significantly increased since then so the skills of a GC 5 years ago would be somewhat equal to that of a diamond today

I stopped playing for a couple years as well. Was peaking diamond in 2s. And even though I was/am a kbm player I felt like mechanically I was better than most people in my rank. Nowadays it's not so much the case 😅 people have gotten better mechanically but oh boy the thinking aspect has stayed the same. And I've found that analyzing and being smarter about the way you play is gonna improve your rank much more than just learning mechanics. That's how I'm able to peak champ 1 in 3s and 2s now.

Ibr about a minute into the video. Squishy was doing stuff my brother can't do, and he's plat 3, but I understand it's hard because of muscle memory. Things like drifting to give your self an competitive advantage and catching the ball in a certain way with your car are things this rank just hasn't picked up yet. However, I don't doubt that these videos aren't useful. There are definitely things you can take from this that will help you rank up.

I was thinking about the same thing. Squishy knows when and when not go to the ball, when to make pressure and when not, and that works for him because he knows how to do it, but his opponents don’t, so he always scores because his enemies can’t defend that shots

I 100% agree. Right near the start of the first match he started bounce dribbling which is something I have seen little to no people at my rank (C1 in 2's, ~P3 in 1's) do deliberately.

you're correct, but I also feel like he's doing a good job of letting them do their own things, giving them a free ball, soft hitting the ball to their goal, etc. As well people are also good at different things, id say plat is where you start to develop a playstyle of any sort, although I guess this video didn't show it too well lol. And in general, the way to get out of diamond is to just play the game more so I think its kinda hard to give tips offensively to players that mostly don't quite get what they're supposed to be doing defenseively

yeah, even if he isn't going for wallshots/air dribbles/etc he is still playing in a way that is simply impossible for normal plat players. Like even hitting every empty net or putting the ball on net for every clear is something that plat players can't do

If that's the problem, the first thing to do is not focus on the ball and just drive around and do wavedashes off the wall for a while. Just take the time to practice. Squishy doesn't account for a lack of commitment or practice, because he knows that this will come with time

In EU ones i startet asking my opponents what rank they were is 2s ... So i am about c3-gc1 in 2s and stuck in dia 2-3 but apparently not even close to the only one because most of the people tell me they are in the same position ... Mostly about c3 to gc1 sometimes gc2 and i think thats so stupid to have to face gcs in dia like how

I have been doing a test experiment by que NA East and playing with 140 ping from Portugal and (at least in Plat) I only get wins in NA. Only a few games into the experiment but last night i ranked from Plat 1 to Plat 3 in 2s with all victories queing NA. Eventually I'll stop because this will not help me improve because you need the challenge, but it was just interesting to see, especially in 1s, that the game was just feels easier because you suddenly score a bunch of kickoff goals and cheap shots just because of their over flipping. So school us Mariano, this content is definitly very useful for ALL of us.

I think you can give tips very well, but you execute them near perfectly. You should try KBM instead where you have to now try use your own advice but you will occasionally miss because of your lack of consistency, this therefore also shows us lower ranks how to recover from our lack of mechanics etc. You also default to muscle memory, you won't on kbm.

Yeah I’m gold in 1s and I’m constantly getting slammed because every opponent just grabs boost and slams the ball no matter what direction they’re hitting it until they get a shot on net. It’s nonstop pressure

One thing youre not mentioning though, is car positioning. You say that its a simple tap on X for 50s, but 80% of winning that 50/50 is car positioning.

Correct but the more you play you begin to learn what 50s in certain positions tend to win for me taking single jump 50s using the hood/side tires of my car tend to me favorable and 50s using the roof of your car there needs to be a split second delay

For sure, I think a lot of newer players underestimate the value of freeplay. Everyone wants to just instantly queue ranked and they get hard stuck because they won’t put hours in freeplay. I would put half your time in freeplay if you feel less mechanical because freeplay gives you 100% time on the ball unlike ranked

I just got RL about a month ago and I play with friends who are in plat in 1s and 2s. I am hard stuck in Gold, my peak was Gold 3 Div 4. I have good mechanics to be in gold aka I do lots of free play and can speed flip, half flip, and decent at dribbling. I can keep up and even beat some of my plat friends..but literally cannot get out of gold. Idek what to do at this point.

my bad for the writing a book but in ones i was hard stuck gold 3 div 4 for the longest after about 6 months i just hit plat 3 i got more consistent (still not the best) with hard touches, shadow defense, defense in general, and learning how to shoot and get better touches and better kickoffs. i still am not the best but i got better. with twos same thing kinda, power touches accurate shooting and the main thing that saved me was back post rotations that skill is a game changer. me and my boy went from plat 3 to peak d2 bc of that. i still need to work on wall reads both ball off the wall and car to ball off the wall and continue getting accurate touches and shots.

The play at 2:00 makes no sense. The opponent bumped Squishy while supersonic and didnt get demoed, then the next play after, they are both supersonic and squishy somehow catches him and gets the demo. How?

2 reasons that i can think of is, 1. Demos dont work at certain angles, 2. The ping and if your asking how he caught up to him, squishy was already supersonic speed way before the other guy

Something a lot of people don’t know is there are different supersonic speeds. A player will get the trail when they reach a certain speed, but you can still accelerate a bit further and go faster
