Matt Rempe is a beast, he took on Ryan Reaves, Nick Deslauriers, Olivier, and Matt Martin. The New York Rangers vs Toronto Maple Leafs was a great game and Max Domi ended up winning it. Rempe fought Reaves and did quite well. He's bringing back fighting in the NHL, gotta love it!

I love antagonistic hockey. But I don't like winning games by injuring players to weaken a team. Even if it's us doing it. I thought all the pre-game hype about Rempe vs Reaves was just dumb noise, to be honest. Hockey media desperate for a story. But once Rempe range Boosh's bells with that hit and injured him on his first game as a Leaf, there was no scenario where that game wouldn't end with a fight. If no one on the Leafs had acted after that, we would have been having a VERY different conversation regarding the team.

I started buying fight tapes in 1984, and always have been a fan of a good scrap, but the gladiator movement to bigger and less skilled players was not part of the game as I viewed it. Two guys playing a shift and making some play that brings them to fight is pure, and more interesting anyway. But this kid is risking his future life to provide a throwback to the days of death. His teammates need to step in and give him a break. I cant believe he was back so quickly after he got knocked loppy in the Olivier fight. Sorry, not good, IMHO.

The hit was charging, explicitly in the NHL rules what he did was charging. Ilya most likely will go through concussion protocols and subsequent care and precaution. Rempe left the ice, hurt Lybushkin, and had it coming. The thing with Reaves is simple. Last season Gudas and Bennett took liberties, and those included knocking Knies out of the playoffs. With the right grit and a guy like Reaves, any behaviour like that will be challenged. I love old-time hockey, but when you sit back and let your guys get hurt without any response, you set yourselves up as weak, and you lose any respect; I am hoping Reaves changes this.

Rempe can actually play a bit. He's a decent skater, doesn't panic a the puck. He has great respect from his team mates. Arber would probably take hi, Xhekaj is probably the best fighter in the game@crimewatchers1

It seems hockey players grab the jerseys of the person they are fighting to keep them at bay. But, they’d be better off using the hold to pull that person toward them as they’re delivering the punch.

I definitely think Laviolette told Rempe not to fight last night, because Rempe ignored Reaves the whole game, and then before the fight finally happened Rempe stopped and looked at the bench to get approval.
