The Holy spirit has given strength through difficult times! He has given the power of self control! He has put in my heart kindness and he has made me conquer so much!! I was raised Catholic and was baptized as a child in my 20s i became saved it took me 20 years to get the holy spirit and it was simply because I asked I began to pray for it and truly I had no idea what it was. .. I was baptized as a baby as a Catholic I chose to be baptized again a week after I was filled with the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit is recieved as the result of the Holy Spirit baptism. The only initial evidence given in scripture of believers recieving the Holy Spirit is speaking in tongues( Acts ch.2,10,and ch.19). The Word says that God gives the Holy Spirit to thise that ask( Luke 11:13). You must begin in prayer to fervently ask the Lord to fill you with the Holy Spirit until He answers your prayer and does so( you will know when it happens). Then you must surrender the one part of your body the Word says we cannot tame and that is our tongue.( I just opened my mouth and started relaxing my tongue). When you have recieved the Spirit He will signify that you have by giving you a spiritual sign which we call speaking in tongues which is one spiritual language.

I thought when I got born again of the Spirit of Christ I received the Holy Spirit then. Now I have to learn how to die to myself and allow the Holy Spirit to rise up and live through me.

The Spirit of God came to life inside you when you believed on Christ. If you really got born again then you've got the Holy Spirit. But that's not the fullness of the Spirit--we must still grow in our trust in God. Dying to self is part of sanctification by the Holy Spirit--God conforming you to the image of Christ. Brother Hinn is talking about receiving the baptism of power to be a powerful witness for the Kingdom of Heaven and an effective worker of the Harvest. And you may have gotten it already. Most pentecostal tradition says it should be evidenced by speaking in tongues, but I experienced the baptism of the Holy Spirit (or at least major, powerful infillings) like 4-5 times before I received tongues. But you can receive again intentionally this time. The Lord knows your heart. He knows if you are sincere in wanting to serve Him out of gratitude and admiration. So ask Him for it and receive in faith. God bless
