Alright, what's your favourite sleep aid?! This video is a bit different, so thanks for indulging my interests 😴

I use various passive methods of winding down to prepare for sleep. Music quite often, and I have used the start of "Sleep" a few times. I never make it through much more than 15 minutes or so--at least not consciously. But lately my favorite has been you reading the Bedtime Procrastination paper you were the lead on. But I never drift off to your video, despite the mood it sets. Too interesting a topic for this Bedtime "Pro"crastinator. Being able to participate in a live concert of Max's piece would be so cool. This video was the opposite of a sleep aid, for this BrainCrafter. What a great interview and truly enjoyed listening to you both. Most insightful info from you both, on many levels. Glad you were asked and able to do this, Vanessa! (BTW, I used this as a morning eye opener--too excited for the new content to wait until tonight.) Happy Brain, happy Life.

Audiobooks written and read by Douglas Adams(The Radioplay are more energetic but preferred over the newer recordings of the Audiobooks.) Speedruns by Zfg1 and Gymnast86 are also pretty good, they are very chill personalities while the runs are loooong. (I have also fallen asleep to the Game Escape from Tarkov I just doubt that was a good idea at all.)

I deal with daily chronic migraines, so my sleep is not the best. But when I try to sleep, I usually just use the sound of silence in the room. My migraine brain will often pick up on certain subtle sounds among the silence, but I am often able to just ignore it and focus on the silence. Weird, I suppose, but I try to make it work.

@@jamesholland7268 when I get migraines, I shine a bright light into both my eyes, the pain is extraordinary for the short time, but the relief after I turn the light off is bliss. You should try the Ying Yang method. Pain relief, loud silence.

I have my hepa filter on full blast - need that white noise! 100% agree about self-compassion, I tend to beat myself up when I can't sleep and I've noticed it's so helpful to shift my internal dialogue. Can't wait to check out the sleep app 🤗

Thanks so much for the interview. I heard him perform a 90min version of Sleep in person and it was one of the best things I've ever heard. After the concert I felt like I floated all the way home.

I knew about Max Richter for its "Vivaldi Recomposed" work (which I love, by the way!) and I am also a BrainCraft follower. So when KZfaq recommended me this video, I was like ❤❤❤😍😍😍😍😍🤩

I loved Richter's opinion on the how art and science are similar, coming from a scientific background I always dismissed art but the way he went about creating SLEEP has so many parallels with the scientific method it's astonishing and refreshing

To sleep, I listen to "Dark classical music, 10 hours". Basically piano melody. I always found the "dark academia" style very dream-like. But it's just my own subjective feeling. Not too pleasing, not too human-like. But enough to overcome my tinitus. Although I get over my tinitus in a few days without music.

This is awesome. Only listened to this video last night. Listened to Sleep to go to sleep and it was the best night sleep I have had in ages. Top stuff.

I used the music soundtrack of Lord of the Rings, that was so kindly provided online, that ran for enough time for me to fall asleep or simply go over all the events in the movies that happened during that music in order to tell myself a bedtime story or to distract me from restless or negative thoughts. Now I use a different kind of bit of different media but that Lord of the Rings music soundtrack helped me through some difficult times. If I'd wake up feeling bad I'd go back to sleep as I pictured the story occuring the music that was on when I'd wake up.

Fascinating interview. For years, I've been listening to Richter's "Path 5 (delta)" when I want to calm my mood, and I just found it's from "Sleep". Thank you!

No one is gonna mention the incredible amazing work Max Richter did on The Leftovers soundtrack? Ok, I will! xD Been a huge fan since then, love your work Max! I've been listening to parts of it since watching the series years ago, and I don't think I'll ever stop. But those I listen all the time, not while trying to sleep. xD I've also been blessed with being a fast 8hr straight sleeper, no help needed... but very interesting to hear about the project and Vanessa's take on it too. It's always an interesting subject this third of our lives we don't think a whole lot about...

Nice, I also tune up Black Metal (my favourite genra) when trying to sleep, but usually only when I know I'm so tired I'll fall asleep no matter what anyways. Edit: percees de lumiere, happy tears.

I discovered Richter with the album "Three Worlds: Music from Woolf Works" and he's a very good composer. I had no idea that he also had this project. Thanks, Vanessa!

Would his music fall under the “binaural beats”? I remember reading something about a wavelength of music that helps people fall into deep sleep. I search that when I’m trying to fall asleep when I’m alone traveling.
@braincraft
@braincraft Жыл бұрын
"Kind of" is the best answer I have to this! Parts of the composition would fall under the binaural beats category as the rhythmic entrainment is somewhat similar trying to support deep sleep. But overall this piece changes quite a lot over the ~8 hour period.

My sleep sounds like a droning hum at roughly 170hz, with innumerable muttering voices lain overtop. I know this only by its sudden absence when my brain prickles into alertness each morning. It must be very loud, for it to echo in the silence of waking.

No Android version? Being a developer myself, I'm curious about the reasons for not porting the app to Android. Are there any specific difficulties that make porting the app impractical?

1:30 this is not funny, trying to explain music without playing it is an oxymoron! what kind of game is it? are we deaf or something? (my respects to real deaf people) I don't find the joke here, sorry. Shame on UMG.
