I'm from South India & we had a lot of them in our canals. I used to catch them in our childhood just to look at them & throw them back into the water. They are extremely resilient but looks really cute from some angles. I even kept 2 of them as pets when i was a boy. Lol my neighbour's kid downstairs has one now as a pet in a tank. But most people caught them to fry them & eat. Now these South Indian fresh-water fishes' species populations are dwindling due to civil-creep & pollution. It's sad. BTW we call them 'Karuupp'. ( Might be derived from the word Karupp (black) or Kurry (curry-gravy-side-dish).

that fish is the spitting image of a human being, never giving a shit of the impact on earth and not caring if they accidentally (or purposefully) wipe out a whole species. sounds like a human top me, right? lol

I am actually surprised how the fish can destroy ecosystem that what they are doing is just being eating insects, worms, small crustaceans etc. Turns out there are another reasons.

This fish was common in the Philippines during 70's and this is my favorite fishing game fish as a kid but when janitor fish invaded Philippine rivers they disappeared and rarely found, only in some upland stream water areas.

This fish is called koi fish in Bangladesh. I am from Bangladesh and this fish is very popular in Bangladesh and considered a delicate food. Earlier, this fish used to find in every pond, lake, small water path in Bangladesh. And due to overfishing, these fish are almost extinct in their natural habitats. Nowadays this fish is raised on farms. But naturally grown fish is very tasty.

From then on, they would literally tear sheeeeet up! Pecking at anything rubber, windshield wipers, window gasketing, and leave doodoo on it haha! It didn’t matter if he changed vehicles either, they recognized him, which lead me to believe that anything that can retain memory like that must be quite intelligent
