I’ve seen professional teams that were considered among the best in the world absolutely give up twice: Bayern vs Barca and Germany vs Brazil. There are a lot of commonalities between those two games namely that Thomas Muller opened the scoring. Also Neuer was in goal in both, Hansi Flick was on the coaching staff in both. Jérôme Boateng was playing in both games. I’m sure there is more that I’ve overlooked.

Not only that but it's so ridiculous how Setien actually thought that a 4-4-2 with vidal as a CAM and Suarez and Messi the only ones on top would beat this fast and young Bayern. Just think about how ridiculous that was and not only that but He had DEMBELE AND RIQUI PUIG! maybe they wouldn't have won us the game but at least saved us from getting slaughtered. Like he should of took out Suarez in the second half for Griezman put in Ansu Fati and Dembele on the wing and played Messi as the CAM. But no he acted like a coward and thats what got him sacked. We have the players already to rebuild we just need a striker. We Aleña, Coutinho, Riqui Puig, and De Jong. We have player like Trincao and Todibo which I don't get why Todibo is on loan when he played a beautiful against Lautaro Martinez the player we are chasing after. I think Lenglet is good but Pique is such a slouch he makes Lenglet look average. And up top we have Dembele and Ansu Fati and Griezman.

RantingBeanie how much money did the spend to replace 1 player? After Neymar left they had 0 Magic no one to help messi no one to take over for messi. Yes bad decisions by the coach and board also took them apart but Neymar was one of the biggest reasons. He provided a spark he took the load off of messi witch allowed him to less and score more. Yes Barca only won the champions league once with Neymar but throughout those 4 years they were one of the best teams in the world after he left they were as good as spurs and there a good and bad team. If Neymar stayed they would be better they would’ve never lost to Roma not to Liverpool they overall would’ve been better. That’s a clear cut fact

RantingBeanie I agree with you I saw it and always pointed it out. After Puyol retired no one commanded the defense or team like he did. Barcelona had and has no one coming through the youth team to replace aging legends/starters. No one has come in to replace any of: Messi, Xavi, Iniesta, alves, alba, Busquets, Suarez, or Puyol. The spine of this once dominant team is aging and no proper plan has been set in place. Madrid struggled but has already made steps for the future with young players coming in.

Although Neymar has a huge impact but it was due primarily to poor board decisions, and managerial skills. Look at Real Madrid, they managed to save and earn millions for only investing on quality youths. Asensio delivers when needed, Vinicius is rising, Valverde and Mendy are monsters, and Rodrygo is showing great potential + we have exciting youths who are still on load like Kubo and Odegaard (coming back).

Müller the "Raumdeuter" is on his level again and that is SO IMPORTANT for Bayern Munich... You can´t cover this man, he is everywhere and nowhere... That´s key! You need more than 1 guy to cover him, so if he goes into different places, a different player needs to cover him, but if you do so, another player is free and you are screwed. Now that he is performing very good again, it´s necessary to cover him even more, but you can´t... You see? It´s very difficult to get the right tactical answer against this and if you add your explanation on top of it, you know why Bayern is so strong right now. Good analysis!

From The Curva that’s not an analysis. I wanted to know how Thiago and gnabry created the chance. Why was Barca improperly spaced. What individual player choices changed the game. Who at Barca was main to blame? Which players were the ones pressing? Why were the substitutes so late? Why would they get in a 4-4-2 for god sakes if they were gonna be under such high pressure. This video barely scraped the surface. The fact that they even talk about coutinho in this video is sensationalization. Coutinho had no impact until the game was already won by gnabry, muller, Thiago and lewondowski.

2:52 This meant that Thiago got a chance to partner with Goretzka. Goretzka and Kimmich would have been in midfield if Parvard wouldn't have been injured. I think main reason Thiago is looking to move is that he knows that he doesn't have a guaranteed starting spot in the first team going forward.

Also it is highlighted by the fact that he was a perfect midfielder for the lisbon tournament with his performance in the final being his best in bayern colour

They attacked in a very similar way to Bielsa's tactics. They had Boateng and Alaba at the back, 2 Wing Backs who played like Auxiliary wingers in Davies and Kimmich, Goretzka coming back as a Defensive Midfielder, Thiago as a Center Mid, Muller as a CAM alongside Gnabry and Perisic out-wide, and Lewandoski up front.

all they saw was Pique whom he didn't cause any errors to those goals.but Lenglet and Semedo failed their team all game long and we got lucky when Alba was clearing the ball from Bayern players the score could have been 10 or 12.Lenglet just stood and the goals went in his side and even Muller first goal he moved out of the way,then Perisic he just watched Perisic score and Ter Stegen failed to hold the shot,then Gnabry left him for dead to score and old man Muller got in front of him to score then some fans say Pique was at fault I think they probably watching the 2013 game.

Pressing high and forcing Barca to play inside their own 18 yards box was the key. You can see what a different that it made, with Bayern's Lewa-Muller-Perisic actively pressing Ter Stegen-Pique-Busquet denying thrm of any passing lane, compared them with Messi-Suarez who just stroll along the park with no sense of urgency. Thiago was literally free to pick his passes, and Goretzka able to bombed forward since Barca's pressing was pathetic. 8-2, such humiliation for a club with Barca stature...

This barca Team is still a top 8 Team. Maybe a Bit weaker than Real Madrid, manchester shity, Liverpool and maybe psg but Not weaker than Juventus Chelsea manu inter or atletico... Bayern is just too good this year. I could only See Paris win against them because of Bayerns high line and Paris speed in front with neymar di Maria and mbappe

They simply gave up after 2-5, their mentality has been destroyed recently. Barca missed 3 goals in the opening 20 btw, while Setien's tactics and selection were a joke. Bartomeu's legacy coming to the fore.

Its kind of sad how Barcelona fans are willing to point the finger at everyone but Messi. When in this game Messi and Suarez were the reason they lost. Yeah they played well when they had the ball. But they left their team for dead when Bayern had the ball. Bayern had everyone involved at every moment. And thats why most of the game was in Barcelona their half. And honestly logically when that happens the forwards should help win the ball back and not let the team get outplayed. Messi and Suarez actually gave Bayern more room to rape the Barcelona midfield and defense to the point where it looked like punishment for the defenders. Eventually the defence will get tired and make mistakes and Ter Stegen will get confused. Against teams that play so aggressively you cant afford to have your forwards just wait for the ball in the hopes that someone will lose the ball so you can counter attack.

Barca have an ego problem. They seem to think they can just drop $100+ million on any player and plug them in and be successful. They also seem to think they are too good for certain players. Their president was approached about Alphonso Davies when he was still in MLS and he said “He’s from Canada? No thank you”. It’s kind of poetic Phonzie embarrassed them so badly after that disrespect. They will eventually have to move on from Messi and from the look of things it won’t be pretty. Dark days ahead for the Catalans.

I watched this because it could be Germany v Brazil all over again. I'm no soothsayer, just listening to what Messi (and Sid Lowe in the papers) has being saying for a while now. He's been papering over the cracks. The Liverpool tie last year is a case in point. Liverpool were the better team in the 1st leg, but Messi was on fire and got them the 3.0 lead. 2nd leg, Liverpool stopped Messi and they scored the 4 goals. With the loss to Roma the previous year, they have been on the decline. There's a reason the guy who scored the own goal had a grin on his face, he knew they were far too good and were going to win the game. Barca were the best team to ever play football, but that's a while ago now, they just have the best player and he's becoming mortal.

The only identity Barcelona have is Messi, they used to be a team, a group of world-class players that tore the opposition apart with passing football. That was what they were before, they've been just Messi, and yes they play with 11 but even the interviews every teammate has always said everything and connected it to Messi. Questions about other players and how they'll intend to block them: "They're good but Messi is something else" What used to be "Barcelona is the best team in the world" to what has been "We have the best player in the world" Messi's pressure at Argentina is now following him to Barcelona, it's been coming but the board and the players never felt like accepting it. No competition on the bench and players having more control than the coach. If Barcelona wants to make a comeback to the top, they first need to let go of Messi. Messi is great and deserves a statue at Camp Nou, but he is weighing the team down as much as he carries it.

The coach had no balls to start wingers and a creative midfielder. Barca aren’t a team that defend and never were. Bayern had so much space at the back and in the middle, that game was to start dembele and Fati to exploit the empty spaces that kimmich and Davies left when they were pressing high. Messi would’ve enjoyed that match playing at a false 9 role, the amount of through balls he would’ve sent that match.

I think the game against Paris will be a completely different one, as Paris now had some games to adjust to Bayern. If the game against Paris had been earlier, they would also lose very heavily.

Barca did not put a single attacking player with pace that could get behind the defence. They put two old slow forwards that don't drop down and press along with a terrible midfield choice.. They should have played a 4-3-3 and given Griezmann the chance in Suarez's position with Dembele out wide on the left. They both defend and give the team much needed speed. Midfield should have been either three out of Dejong/rakitic/vidal/roberto. Not to mention the stupidity of constantly trying to play out the back and otherwise chipping the ball to Bayern players 30 yards out from the goal. That was painful to watch. It could have and should have been a lot closer with the right manager.
