I mean, to be fair, he was in the right direction. He knew that the card had a dangerous effect, so went ahead and negated its effects with Forbidden Chalice. What he didn't knew is that if an effect is activated in the GY, it doesn't matter if the monster had its effects negated on the field. But hey! That means he actually read the card effects! That's more than what 90% of the YGO community is capable of.

What have we learned, kids? Negates on the field don’t matter when the monster is sent to the GY, because it is therefore no longer on the field and thus can activate its effects.

This is true, however back in February I've used impermanence on a monster that then went to the graveyard to activate its graveyard effect, but it was negated, Idk how, maybe it was in the game's code as an error, but for a couple of weeks it led me to believe that you could effectively block graveyard effects with cards like veiler, impermanence of forbidden chalice

He did definitely read it though, that's the thing. He tried to use Forbidden Chalice to overcome Inti's effect. The real mistake the Prank Kids player made was not knowing that a card doesnt care if it's effect has been negated on the field, if said effect activates later in the graveyard. So yeah, saying he didn't read Inti's effect is obviously false :)

I don't understand how he thought negating on field would work it's activation happens in Grave. Called by the grave would have have worked if they had it hell Apollusa would been good also but since I haven't even tried to add that card in my master duel decks I don't even know if it's in master duel or not

And it happened to me, since chalice doesn't espicify which zone it excepts. So it's stupid, both field and GY should be included until the end of the turn.

There's very few cards that do that the only one I can think of is an ancient gear card and that one negates the effect of cards that it destroys in battle

The sad thing is that Sun Dragon Inti is over a decade old and was even a featured card in the 5D’s anime with its sister card to do it’s iconic revival loop though it’s primary effect is the most dangerous part about it and the easiest of the two to avoid it’s either the opponent didn’t bother to read card, didn’t know that Inti’s effect triggers After destruction by battle not the battle itself or was too hype about temporarily having a stronger card thinking that brute force is how you deal with it.

@@Salvare___000 well yeah..., some of a new ygo player barely know if that kind of effect is still exist and they may also not going to bother to use it thought, so yeah random deck (that i never see), veteran, and creativity almost become a rare sight in most ygo game, what i see now is just another variant for a card or archetype used by a certain deck.

I think he read it cause he use forbidden chalice on sun dragon to negate its effect. He just didnt know that forbidden chalice does not negate effects that activates when the card is destroyed by battle cause it activates in the graveyard

Was playing Skull servant against some guy and he use it to make his attack 0, send it to the grave and probably though I would lose the game, but then I summon him back minus 1000 atk but was able to stop his battle phase and his big number board he have.

That's kind of ironic as by posting this, it means you are among those who are not reading as well. Rewatch the video. The player has read, it is just that he was tricked by K-language: he has negated the card on the field, but what he really needed is "negate the card and other cards of the same name", or only negate the card once it is in GY.

I unironically play Lord Inti. I knew as soon as he attacked it was over. Sure he negated the effect, but once Lord Inti hits the grave, he's back on and the second half of his skill kicks in. I was like "theres no way the other player is actually gonna be THAT stupid...." I was pleasantly surprised. RTFC.

This wasn’t even the third guy who didn’t read Inti’s effect. There was one Dragonmaid player who dealt himself over 8,000 damage because he didn’t read Clear Wing nor Inti. Tried to use House’s targeting effect, then negate CW with Sheou, then next turn attacked Inti. That one was egregious because on the turn he defeated himself, Sheou is a once per turn yet he wasted his first Sheou’s negate on Supply Squad.

How you notice that your opponent is Meta-Player; First: Always use the same Top-Tier Deck Second: Quickly give up, if you or he do something bad with their Ace-Monster (like DPE) And most importantly: Never read the cards effect.

I love card effects that activate in the graveyard. Even if they're negated on the field, they can activate anyway when in the graveyard, and you can even tribute a monster itself to activate it's effect successfully - a good way of working around Skill Drain and the like. There are a few cards that can negate a card when it destroys a card, though, even when they're in the graveyard - I forget what the name is.

Should probably point out that that only works because of how skill drain is worded. Madolche Anjelly's effect will be negated if effect veiler was used on it, for exactly.

when you negate an effect on the field the effect on the field is negated but if the monster activates the effect on the GY it doesn't get affected by the negation on field because it's in the GY

I think the negation of chalice is only while the target is face up on the field unlike forbidden droplet or impermanence.

I remember when prank kids came out I was playin trains. And round two he did a combo leaving a bored I couldn’t finish with Gustav 2000 and Liebe 6000 direct and sat there with this smug smile so I just attacked with Liebe a second time. Guess he didn’t read the card. (Liebe can attack monsters up to the number of attached materials +1) He was not happy.😂

GY effects can still be used, even myself when I target monster with Marincess Wave, it can still use effect in GY but one moment when I get negated at the battle phase against mechaba, I couldn't use Marincess Wonder Heart effect in the GY, it didn't work... So it's kinda weird, I'm still confused how is possible PS : Didn't get banned because I had field spell + crystal heart summon but my effect got negated and I didn't get banned too. I'm soo confused about this situation

Some cards block effect activations during the Battle Phase, which is not a field-only negation effect, its also possible that it occurred during the damage step somehow, and thus was not a step where you could activate it

Yugiboomer here. Back in my day, we had this card called Wicked Breaking Flamberge Baou. _That_ card was a bitch. If your monster got destroyed by a monster equipped with it, its effects were negated. Permanently. Witch of the Black Forest, Sangan, literally any deck that relied on graveyard effects or floating effects got bricked by it. Edit: Yes, returning the negated card to the deck would remove the negate, but remember this was early 2000’s Yugioh. We didn’t really have that many options to do that back then.

I guess they thought, chalice would also negate the floating effect of the dragon. Imagine having ingame tutorials that actually teach you not so intuitive rules like this. But oh well. At least we have kind jank players that teach new players the hard way. Though, this reminds me that I also wanted to build a deck around the Sun and Moon Dragon. Their destruction cycle sounds kinda funny....just like DPE in 100x worse.
