I have a Belgian Malinois. German Shepherd mix- she is a wonderful dog- very crafty- steals our keys, remote controls knows how to open doors

watched them serve in iraq. Amazing to witness but when i would here of one not making it back I would go off by myself and sob. If they sensed any danger they would not let you pass. Dogs do make us better humans and I still find myself sobbing over those K9 grunts, brothers.

I had a German Shepherd as a teen in the 1980s and he was the best. They are my favorite dog breed. The dog helping the woman fix her car is actually a Belgian Malinois.

I grew up with a German shepherd. She was the most loyal dog I've ever had. Very loving and protective of us kids. We miss Dodie so so much ❤️ Thanks for the cute upload 👍👍

My nephew has a pure all black German Shepherd and I love him so much! I really love it so much when I pet him all day then he doesn't want me to leave him. He follows me everywhere and sleeps on me. I really love it when I talk to him and he tilts his head side to side. It's the cutest thing.

German shepherds are the best. Have had many in the family over the years. One would always rip small trees out of the ground like the first one.

The first dog "i" had as a child, was a german shepherd too. It had police training but i can't remember the circumstances, probably just went through training and didn't make the cut. She was the greatest! Very protective of the family, especially women and kids. She was very sweet, cuddly, child friendly and loyal as heck. If i move to a place where i'm allowed pets, i'm getting a german sheperd for sure.

I had a German Sheperd as a puppy and it did not take long as she grew older to understand why they are police dogs. They are amazing.

As a teenager I was down the shop with our German Shepherd and my skateboard. The way back I got her to tow me all the way back to the house, yeah she knew the plan haha no encouragement needed. Best memory of her

Growing up. My dad brought Max back from the Army. Green baret 82nd Airborne. Max our retired military dog would pull us around our yard by kid red wagon.😂good memories.😊

I knew a couple of guys who were trying to bring back stray dogs when we were in Iraq. I thought it was a lost cause at the time, but apparently there was a charity helping veterans get those dogs back to the US. Shows what I know. Military working dogs didn't have the insane paperwork problems that unvaccinated foreign animals did. I'm sure that your dad didn't even consider any other option but bringing Max home. Nobody with a 31K has that MOS because they DON'T love dogs.

Most police dogs aren't German Shepherds, they're usually Belgian Malinois. Also the name "Alsatian" comes from the name of the area/mountains in Germany they're originally from I think.

I relate most to the girl on the phone: I have to be careful what I say in front of the dogs. A sentence like "hey Girlfriend lets Go Out to the Park" would send them insane. Some of the dogs in the videos are Belgian and not German. Big difference especially if you want to live with a cat.

Love them, but bigger breeds need responsible owners. My sister was attacked riding her bike down the alley to my parent's house. Glad it was her, not my nephew. We have NEVER blamed that dog, she was just "protecting " the small children that live there. Love all breeds but owners need to understand everything about them, not just for their sake, the sake of their furry child.

I have had Belgium Malinois they are even more in tune and more intelligent than the German Shepherd. They also don't suffer the hip displaisia that German Shepherds do.

I love my cats, but if I had been exposed to dogs first, I'd be a dog person. I like them both, but I just went with what I grew up with. I still like to play with friends' and customers' dogs, though. I just couldn't deal with having to walk them so they can take a shit. Use the litter box, my guy!
